Such a shame to have lost this railway, hard to believe that in the 1950s the train took 15 mins from comber to queens quay, now the bus schedule time is 55 minutes in rush hour, that's progress!

Fascinating video, unless I'm mistaken the bridge over the track at the Millisle Road halt is still standing.
Newtownards is by far the largest town in NI without a rail connection, but given how rural most of the route is, it's probably not a surprise it got the axe, while the Bangor line survived.

I found this really interesting, thanks! Wish they still had this line, what scenery they must have had - and still would !

Very interesting. Some places I hadn't realised had been on a railway route.

I discovered the history of this myself a few years ago, but only seeing this video now. The old route in Donaghadee goes right past my house! Less than a stone's throw from my garden. Saw myself in this video, many thanks for sharing the heritage.

Brilliant video would have loved to have taken that rail journey but nothing stays the same 😢

Fascinating. Shame all that railway infrastructure was taken away. Belfast to Comber route looks as if it would suitable to run something like the Dublin LUAS. Just needs straightened a bit at some parts. Would certainly help with all the traffic congestion coming into bottle necks on King's Road and Upper Newtownards Roads, especially with all the new developments in Comber.
