Driving for pleasure doesn’t necessarily mean driving in a sporty way. I drive for pleasure in a relaxed and comfortable manner, and Lexus, judging from my experience with RX450h, is perfect for that. There is plenty of performance for any sensible overtake. F-sport in this and other SUV models is more of a styling preference rather anything else.
Lexus make the best Luxury cars. They are very reliable, give good customer service and are very well engineered. The so called "luxury" German brands may be better to drive (in some cases) but don't come close when it comes to overall luxury, reliability and customer service. Mercedes and BMW used to build the best luxury cars up until approx.1995. Audi have never built a good luxury car (just a posh VW ) and Jaguar used to build great British luxury cars apart from reliability issues. Lexus come top in reliability surveys and if I was spending my own hard earned cash, that's good enough for me.
This is carfection video, thanks for listening community after last Range Rover ..thing...
What a pleasant difference. Thank you
tbh. SUVs are gross 🤮🤮🤮🤮
When that door shut I messed myself.
Just the right amount of thudd and dampening.
Its damn satisfying, but its no German.
@@kadooment95 yeah german has this kind of tank sound.
@@kadooment95 Good thing it isn't. I like my cars working.
@@kadooment95 i drove over 20 years our german brands....since i´m with Lexus i know what reliability is meant to be and the quietness and and dampening is the best i ever had !
Well, not everyone is a car enthusiasts like us carfection subscribers. It is a good everyday luxury commute for people who don't want sportiness
The reliability of this engine is going to be phenomenal
Cars like this are not designed for the young sporty driver who's going to be throwing the car around. It's for the middle aged & older people or mums with kids who want a car for getting around in stylishly, luxuriously and efficiently.
Good to see a Carfection review where the good is highlighted - as well as the awful. Too many Carfection videos feel like rebadged adverts....
@swansea007791 Too true. JLR vehicles having poor reliability.
Lexus are amazing, I’ve owned an RC 300h f sport Lexus cohoe for 3 years & the E-CVT does not cause any bother, in fact it’s more smooth, had a merc coupe before & you could feel gear changes, this is a smooth box
Should say coupe 😛
Its not a box its a planitary gear set and an electric motor. Its very clever. Other manufacturers have tried to make a hybrid but its not as good as this.
Why are all journalists mindsets so fixed on the CVT gearbox? I’ve driven an IS300h for nearly 3 years and it’s an excellent gearbox, the smoothest, most serene drivetrain you can get, drive it at 8/10 and the gearbox just does not bother you. It does need you to adapt your right foot ever-so-slightly so that you learnt he best way for it to deliver and when you do, it really is a five star box. The problem as I see is that Journalists don’t actually live with a car long enough to bother for its real strengths to come out
If the Prius looked anything like this Lexus people wouldn't talk smack about the Prius so much.
Steven Manning tbh this looks boring in some ways, I actually prefer the Prius. Interior is fine.
This is much more like it Carfection and Rory. Well executed. Beautifully shot as usual.
Your Production Quality is absolutely perfect but the views are soooo low.... why soo underrated I don’t understand
this review is so beautifully executed it feels melancholic and sad in some way :D
Great review!
What a fantastic review! Love the background music.
Wow he has an amazing voice
They could easily fix the sound issues with delivering LFA to your house. Just couple of letters in difference.
I had two RX 450h and both had CVT transmission. I find that to work very well, at least there's no jerkiness of changing gears. Very smooth
Rory was in carfection. What a surprise
The best sounding doors ever were those from the E39 BMW 5series!
Rory I am considering a Lexus UX The real concern for me is the CVT gearbox moving from a BMW Have to say your presentation of the Lexus UX is beautiful.
You'll never go back
I know its an older comment but as a UX owner I have to say you won't even feel the CVT. It's extremely smooth and feels almost like driving an electric car, no gear shifts nothing. Also, because it's not a standard belt and pulley design it has no rubber band effect like most CVT's do. The only slight downside is the noise when you floor the car, but the UX has very good sound insulation so even that isn't that big of a deal imo.
Perfect little car!!!
I just got one of 2020 version, love it.
Me too 🥰 I got It yesterday 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
@@cristinaguray5543 Enjoy 😊
I did notice Rory had his phone on the dashboard with Google Maps in full effect. I’m guessing the inbuilt system isn’t up to par with others?
Great Review and beautiful views really well executed!
I love this guy
Carfection♥️
UX300e (fully electric)is availble in europe and asia in 2020 !
I like it!
which camera do you use for this videos
Excellent review 👏🏾
1:45 The built-in GPS must be sucks if you have to use your phone to cover it
RORY!!!
A hybrid is the only way to get 181 BHP and 54 MPG. Its fast, smooth and quiet.
Road tax is £170. 0-60 more like 7 seconds. The eCVT is great. Its not a push belt drive!
It does not drone. The reviewer is not reporting on the car he is driving.
Thank you. You send it straight and you send it thoughtfully. There's no artifice. Really enjoyable viewing.
People who say ecvt is bad or noisy or otherwise have no plan it should be clear to everyone this is not a gtr but a SUV for the city super quiet and efficient he should be and yet enough power people who say otherwise have it probably only for Test drive and do not drive it daily. I also thought so until I bought my Gs450h F-Sport and every day move and it is the best I drove.
I’m one of those weird people who enjoys the sound of car doors closing. I don’t think they nailed it but it actually does sound good and matches the image of the car. I really like a door closing sound with more of a click; think Porsche 993.
The best dressed car reviewer
Finally, a review on the UX without hating on it every second of the video. Very enjoyable!
Jonathan Chen if most reviews “hate” on it and this is “finally” a review that doesn’t, then shouldn’t that tell you something about the car?
Really good return to form after the unfortunate Evoque episode. Well done and thanks for responding to the feedback.
The point, for me, that this film missed is that the UX doesn't move anything forwards. Should be a range-extender plug-in EV, not a mild hybrid.
Good review.
My opinion is Lexus has made this car only to appeal to those who want a reliable, economical efficient, comfortable mode of transportation with a good resale value.
If you want driving pleasure in a small high riding car. Buy a Mecan Turbo.
If you want real driving pleasure don’t buy any high riding car.
Much better video!
Nickel Metal battery? What year is it?
@swansea007791 Absolutely cheaper yes, but I thought the whole issue with NM batteries was that they lose a lot of capacity with charging over time. Could be wrong though
Did you forget to upload the Episode 2 of "How to Become a Racing Driver"
RORY! Come on mate, 1:44 “it’s also really clever inside” while you use your phones sat-nav 😂not that smart then 😂😂😂
😂
People always going on about the f*ing sports. Why can’t a car be quiet and smooth and economical and that’s it?
It’s not so sporty but reviewers still talk all about the sports instead of ride comfort, quiet, seats and other things.
you need to look for a RollRoy to have comfort ride, quiet (You can hear your heart beat), seats, and other things. Even Tesla Model X has not match your requirement yet.
e-CVT gearboxes are the most reliable gearbox ever made, they rarely go wrong. CVT used by Nissan are the worst ones
There are some serious hot hatches for this kind of money that would leave the UX in their dust. However, I believe this isn't what the Lexus is chasing - excuse the pun. This entry level series is aimed at being a prestige city car with great fuel economy, a quiet and comfortable ride that Lexus are most famous for and a car that would make any long journey an absolute breeze. Just my opinion.
What a beautiful car!
where was this filmed?
Near Barcelona
Terramar, Sitges, Spain...I think.
@@DevoteeCT yeah I think you're right
Gorgeous
Incorrect. It's actually a gussied up version of the Toyota Corolla Sport (JDM) hatchback, but it has an optional hybrid drivetrain.
That door sounded average to me 2:35. 😆
You might need better audio system with bass. I was soo skeptical of that starting statement, until i heard the low end damped thudd over subwoofers. Very nice.
You need better headphones. Seriously, they're worth the investment. And cheaper than a Lexus.
My nissan x-trail’s doors sound the same, lol
it's not a fancy Prius, it's a re-bodied Toyota CH-R
Nothing wrong with the gearbox, i love mine.
Talking of CVTs boringness. I would like to ask why is not everyone talking about very short clutch life of DCTs and their replacement cost in all cases regardless of brand. Clutch set replacement cost on my Honda fit hybrid's DCT is 3 times more than the whole transmission replacement on my 2013 toyota premio and the clutch set is more likely to wear out faster even with regular maintainance... I bought DCT because im an enthusiast, and i dont enjoy it now.
Great review. I'll never understand why people would pay good money for a car with artificial sound.
BMW M5 you mean.
@@Zerofightervi Well yes, at least in this Lexus you can turn it off. I was talking in general. Maybe I'm just old school, but fake sounds (and fake exhausts) seems a silly idea.
It’s there if you want it. You have the option. One day it’ll sound as good as the real thing. I prefer electric motors for daily driving though
This is just a beautiful car
I will just keep soldiering on in my 98 Toyota minivan. 4 speed slush box where you feel acceleration and revs. You can drive on the edge of traction and that 20 year old vehicle looks better than all of these new crossovers. Not that I want to be driving a minivan but I definitely won’t buy a new car that looks like every new car
I really dont get why people hate on such good looking reliable suv, the color of interior sucks though!!!
I've always found the styling of Lexus cars a bit busy. They're beautiful, no doubt. But something about their styling just doesn't work for me.
Raj Kumar Goswami it works for the LFA
It's the grill. It always is. Many angles look really good, until you get a head on view of that grill. Just doesn't work for suvs
Not Catchpole? I'm off
A fancy Prius really.lmfao
Lexus needs to come out with a full electric UX. Quiet, efficient, low maintenance, and with the superior acceleration that EVs have.
"Sporty stance"?? Sorry are we looking at the same car?
Sporty stance? There is a whole foot of wheel gap!!! I mean just compare it to the video about the manual GT3! Carfection is about more, it should be!
I think it's not fair to judge it based on "sportyness" it's like complaining about maclaren boot space or fuel efficiency. If u want sport and practical buy a golf R or something like that.
Good review - Well shoot. This Lexus looks pretty interesting and the interior looks very good and solid in its own way - Sad that Lexus has not managed to make it more enjoyable as a slightly more driver-focused car - because that is how it looks - like an on the sporty side Crossover. I was always of the impression that nothing is worse than having a sporty looking car that is not very sporty at all - Then better a "sleeper". Why would one want a sporty looking car, slightly down on practicality due to its looks and not gain that sporty experience?.
But perhaps it is adjusted to the main markets and their drivers - Let´s hope they can make a better update soon.
Now Lexus please make a 2+2 cabrio with a manual gearbox and I’ll listen
This video is almost Top Gear good.
Great presenter.
Why can’t they just add a nice 2.0 turbo 240-255hp engine even Volvo has one in there xc40 come Lexus...it should at least be an option
No Henry though
I really enjoy your reviews, even when you have to review a tarted-up home appliance. I am in 100% agreement with you that CVT's are just nothing short of awful. Definitely not the type of car I would be caught dead in.
Song starting 2:44?
Yes, would also like to know!
Beautifully made video and review! Sadly was wasted on a glorified Prius!!
".. .like a badly dubbed movie...". There can be no worse insult for a car, surely? Well done, Rory... the car, not so much.
Lexus needs to get rid of the CVT gearbox, it just gives a disappointment drive performance that it needs. Lexus is just a beautiful car to drive. It is such a shame that its lack of key performance drive due to the CVT gearbox. CVT gearbox could give the Lexus downfall.
Calling a huge heavy SUV eco friendly 👌👍💪
Can't beat an old Merc's door sound imo .
+ isn't this just a fancy Toyota CHR?
We don't hate the Prius. We cannot stand the Prius driver.
Rational Lion I hate both
Tesla owners are the worst. Many of them seem to have broomstick stuck up their arse.
Lexus should be ashamed for disgracing the Fsport badge by placing on/in this vehicle, it's beautiful but by no means is it sporty
Only if the car was as good as the film
Commendable production :)
Why would enthusiasts hate this? Why would enthusiasts care about a small crossover in the first place?
I'd love to buy a more eco and/or environmetal friendly car if someone would come out with one I could afford. Yes, the combustion engine is in its final days but electic cars are not that eco friendly as everyone is trying to make us believe.
Finally a journalist said it.
Lexus is a Toyota
Keyfrace "enforced to buy"
Forget about it, I rather keep my 1987 Supra
This is coming from a man who drives a mustang 😂😂😂
You mean the best selling sports car in the world?
@@frankmazzur5674 The best selling sports in world Is MX-5 or Miata
@@richardhammond9757 the MX5 is the best selling 2 seater. Mustang has been the top selling sports coupe in the world for four years running.
www.motorauthority.com/news/1122694_ford-mustang-is-the-best-selling-sport-coupe-globally-again
Too many Suv's too many! really we need more sports and sedan cars!
I hope the industry will soon move away from these hatchbacks pretending to be crossovers. This car must be the peak of the fad.
So top gear isn’t working out for you Rory?
I think I might have seen a trailer of the new season with new presenters. So i suppose it isn't.
I see small crossover and my mind says... Urgh
@Joshua Jacob I like the Z4 yes
why is Wolverine not doing any reviews now?
Rory ,I have heard through a friend who teaches in Japan that it is poorly received in Japan. Lexus buyers there are highly disappointed with this car ,especially with performance and the CVT, toyota does not do good cvts, they build great automatic transmissions and engines. My friend said the price forecasted in Japan when it comes out was said to be too highs they say buy a Prius
LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS
Not sure why you are mentioning it but hey, liked it anyway.
Best door closing sound: MB Gelandewagen
getting tired of the wether you like argument, no i dont have to accept or embrace anything
Lol Neanderthals
ITS ABOUT TIME GO 100% ELECTRIC AND BRESTHE O2, INSTEAD OF CO2.
It's a well done video. As for the car...it's replacement of the CT200h, which was also a fancy Prius, but it looked sexy and handled well. This UX seems like a downgrade, trading dynamics for the appearance of an SUV without the utility.
