    Just wanted to say thanks, I never would have considered the Head Core 93 as a telemark ski, but I picked up a pair this spring based on your reviews and they have greatly exceeded my expectations. Generally skis either work as soft snow or carvers for telemark, but these are the best all-rounder I've tried for telemark in the last 25 seasons. Thanks.

    I completely agree! I spent 2 years demoing true all mountain options .I have carving skis, pow skis, but I just couldn’t decide on my all mountain ski. I always felt lacking in the carving department with all the demos. I stayed away from kore skis because some people didn’t like how stiff they were for a light weight ski without metal.
    I finally tried them a few weeks ago and I was blown away with how strong the carving is. I made them my Christmas gift to myself 😊 I can see these being a bit much if someone doesn’t load a ski well when carving, but I loved how strong they were carving. And you get all the other all mountain attributes, and a fun turn radius! Probably my favorite ski currently!

    I have 2020 kore 93s. My twin brother has atomic vantage 90s (which I think have maverick DNA). I've always liked atomic because they're versatile yet gritty & strong. I told My bro that the kores are butter smooth. Not quite the full speed precision of atomic, but almost telekinetic with smoothness. My brother 100% agreed that for skiing with the kiddos, it was just so flexible. The Kore can be turned up to volume 10, but doesn't handicap you at volume 5

    Great videos, you're probably the only trusted source of honest ski info. I just switched over to used pair of 99 kores from 2020 (paid $320 with marker bindings, happy with price, good condition, hard to find in my area). Holy cow so much better than my 20-year-old k2s that are so heavy and clunky lol. Skied 3 days straight for about 20 hours total on the kores. I feel like I went from the Stone age to modern times. The kores are so light and maneuverable in the mogels and slush of the Pacific Northwest. I'm such an idiot skiing on old technology but I am on a budget.

    Nice! Glad you got to ski on these, everything I watched on them was good almost to good. But what sold me on mine was Bob had picked this out as his own personal ski and we are similar build and weight.
    I love mine they are great addition to my two ski quiver as my other ski is stiff carving ski. The Kores do so much better on the soft slush or even harder when it’s lumpy. Also Wanted something to branch into all mountain and something I can take with out west when I go.
    Couldn’t be happier.
    I will admit they aren’t the most durable ski but I haven’t seen any problems with mine yet.
    I also put phantom waxless glide system on mine, will be testing that out soon.

    I bought a pair of discounted demo 180 cm Kore 93's back in AUG 2019 along with a set of pre-installed fully adjustable Tyrolia Attack 13 bindings. I'm 6'2, 260 lbs and ski everything from green groomers to double black trees/glades. I don't ski parks, jumps, and cliffs. I've beat the crap out of these skis over the past 5 seasons (~180 days of skiing) across Colorado, Utah, California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Switzerland, France, & Italy. I LOVE these skis. Very stiff, a bit chattery on chunk, and don't float well in deep powder. They are decent enough if you lean back and chill in deep pow though. They are great on groomers, up to 5" of powder, ice (if sharpened), and trees. These skis are VERY snappy, agile in turns, and fast, especially on blue & black groomers (I've gotten up to 68 mph). I'll definitely be replacing my worn out ones with a new pair for next season. He's definitely on target about the top layer delamination. The top layer on my skis did seem to chip along the edges fairly easily, which was dissapointing, but I've found this to be strictly a cosmetic issue and did not affect the performance at all. Highly recommended for intermediate and advanced skiers, but not for beginners or people who need "pretty" skis.

    Finally got a chance to test all these skis you like on demo day at the local mountain. My quick take after a few runs on each ski on scraped up icy groomers.
    QST92: Very soft flexing, even my gf found it soft and she likes skis like nordica santa ana unlimited and Atomic Maven 86. I liked the ski a lot in soft snow but wasn't too much of that around.
    Atomic Maverick 95 ti. I didn't love it in 180 but like it a lot in 188. Could see this as my daily. Wish they made it in 184.
    Head Core 93. Liked it and wish I had more time on it. They had it aggressively tuned I think because it felt hooky, but it felt light on the feet and fun and had surprisingly good edge grip.
    Biggest surprise was Nordica steadfast 85. Super easy to ski and quiet also held up good on the icy groomers.
    Also tried Heads new racing ski in 163 which was a hoot but I'm too old for those. Legs got pretty shot.
    I like skis with a lot of metal so was a treat to be able to demo so many new (lighter) skis. I think I need to adapt my skiing style and to trust the skis more.
    On the flip side I found it easier on the legs and it was actually fun to jib around and take small pops off of features again.
    Really wish I lived somewhere they have a lot of fresh snow.

    The reason you like these is because they're very similar shape profile to Atomic Mavs. If you compare Kor 87's to the Mav 86C's (which come out of the same mold as 88Ti's despite the name but without the titanol sheet of course), they're basically the same ski. The titanol sheet in the Mav Ti's just make them more torsionally rigid.

    Very interesting review and glad you like the skis. Seems your ski style prefers light weight, responsive carving, and lots of rebound. The length seemed short for you, but they are known to be stiff and you can size down, it seems to have worked for you. As you get on more skis it will be interesting to see if similar skis get similar reviews. Sounds like an Elan Ripstick is another ski you will like.
    Have you gotten on any FIS SL skis lately? Not light and probably not good off piste, but they have the responsive carve down pat.

  • @michaelaronson9447
    @michaelaronson9447 4 месяца назад

    Head Kore are amazing skis and have technology unlike many other mainstream ski manufacturers. Hence you get light weight, damp, stable and quick edge to edge. I think the only other manufacturer with almost similar build and feel are the DPS Pagoda Piste C2. You simply can’t go wrong on any of the Head Kore offerings. I think more skiers could be on these skis over the other offerings from Volkl, Nordica, Blizzard and Stockli!

    I too was v.impressed by the Kore 93, from a few years ago, on piste. They carved so easily it was like cheating. But, when taking them off piste, I was left with the impression they were a bit one dimensional, not pivoting or floating as well as I'd expected, and too easily deflected by icy crud. I expect the 99s would be the sweet spot of the range.

    Hey! So glad to hear you like the Head Kore! If you liked the 93, you gotta try the 105. I've had my 105s for five years now and I love 'em. They do chip and nick easily as they don't have the heavy top sheet - saves on weight (but keep in mind, it IS only cosmetic, the ski’s integrity does hold up). The 105s also don't do great in the crud or chop, they're not very damp. and they are a bargain when you shop off-season.
    You also used the exact word I used when I first bought 'em..."Snappy". They are. They do exactly what you ask them to and they do it ..SNAPPY!!! I can even rock slalom like turns on my 105s! Great review.

    I wanted new powder skis for the 2023-24 season anyways, but something clinched me turning my 2018 Head Kore 99s into my rock skis. I noticed about a yr ago the back tips had started delaminating. Used some tools to fix this to a degree, but this clinched them in becoming Rock Skis. I'll keep this delamination in my when discussing Head Kore skis on the lift, etc. BTW I found the Head 99 absolutely useless in hardpack, and didn't particularly like it on groomers. Powder & Potatoes are it's home!

    I have the Kore 87 and I had exactly the same impressions as you when I tried them before buying. The turns you can do on those are so much fun! And since I ski in the East, the 87 give me more maneuverability and are easier to flex for my 155 pound weight. By the way, I think their stiffness is why the 93 and wider don't sell as much. Lighter skiers can have a hard time flexing them. But overall, I think my Kore are the closest all mountains I've tried to a race skis, while being the lightest in the category and easiest to maneuver. And your 100% right about cosmetic durability ;)

      Hi @BabTheBabs, curious that how tall you are and what's length of your Kore 87? I'm a lightweight skier (175cm, 132lb) who is considering Head Kore at the moment but not sure what's the best length for me. (based on it's stiffness)

    • @BabTheBabs
      @BabTheBabs 4 месяца назад +1

      @@alexanderlin2022 Hi! So I'm 183 cm but also pretty light at 155lbs. I chose the 183 for the stability and I'm very happy with them. On the other side, they lose some maneuverability, especially in bad conditions such as icy moguls. Considering their stiffness, you should take either 177 or even go smaller if you are used to small lenghts.

      You could check out the review from Ski Essentials.. Bob really likes these skis.. I think he skis them at a longer length-not sure.. I didn't ski these but I skied the 99s x 177 and they were great on the groomers but very reactive.. I got stuck with them in the crud and they bounced around in the crud.. I have talked to people who have a wider width and they say those are more damp.. I do see people skiing on the 93 so they must like them.. It seams like you and I have different styles and I think the difference between me and Bob is that his height dampens a lot of the reaction from the ski...
      BRECK opened up PEAK 10.. That is for experts only so I let my skis run and my Stockli flew.. It was rock hard groomer/ice that did get shaved off and it was bumpy in a groomer sort of way.. This was the first day of this season that I let my skis go.. Up until this point I let the other skiers do as they will and this time I did as I willed...

If you are a west coast, mostly soft snow skier these would be definitely good all-rounder that would be fine in all but the deepest/heaviest days. Hi brother!! Nice review, as always!! I never thought about a 90+ width as a groomer capable tool. But after following you for a while, you convinced me to jump into the “wider range” of carving skis. I’ve been thinking between the Atomic Maverick 88ti and the Elan Wingman 86Ti. What do you think about the Elans? Any thing to have in mind? Are they good skis for advance skiers? Or will they be a bit soft?? Thanks for the work!!

    • @alltoone
      @alltoone 6 месяцев назад +2

      What you should take in count about Elans is that they use the Amphibio profile, meaning there will be a ski for the left and right leg. The Elan Wingman series although marketed as an all mountain ski is more of a on-piste ski. An equivalent of Head Kore from Elan is the Ripstick series, that is what you should be looking at for a fair comparison.

    • @keith2076

      I bought a pair of Wingmans...and I wasn't impressed. they had a speed limit and didn't perform as well as I was hoping they would. my Head V-10s were better!
      I replaced them w/a pair of Volkl Kendos....and I love them...no speed limit...at least none that I have found yet and I got them to 57 MPH.

      Thanks for the quick review. I, like your sister, don't like high speeds. I'm a technical skier but not a fast one...by any means. At lower speeds, how do they track? are they stable on edge when driving them around the apex of the turn? I put a lot of pressure on the front of the skis, but never at high speeds.@@keith2076

      getting them on-edge...the feel is "meh". They're just OK skis, not great, not bad. You should demo them first and let me know what you think. They can be had at a good price, and Ski Magazine used to rate them quite highly....but I was only luke warm on them. Would you believe I bought the 2021-22 Kore 93 (184 length) new for the 2022-23 season. I was absolutely LOVING this ski, until I dove into the powder & trees and lost 1. My 1st day out 12-9-22. I was a retard who didn't properly tighten my bindings 1st. I'm not as retarded now LOL! Searched over an hr no dice. Wasn't in lost & found in December 2023 either. A real bummer. I did however land my 2022-23 Stance 96s (182s) in Feb 2023 w/bindings for less than $550, Skiessentials Presidents day sale. I honestly don't know how I got them so cheap, for I've never seen them cheaper since, W/O bindings. I LOVE this ski, awesome crude cutter. Love your reviews!

    I owned the Kore 99's a couple years ago and they were very good on groomers and good on crud but were too stiff for bumps. To be considered a great all mountain ski the ski should be reasonable on bumps. I'm usually not a groomed run skier and I ended up deciding that there were better options. Unless Head has softened their KORE skis, I'm still not interested.

      @RicketySkiReviews  2 месяца назад

      That's a tough one, they both have great features. I would pick the Maverick, bc I value its precision and off trail diversity, but I think the turning diversity and on trail performance leans a little bit in the Kore 93s favor.

      @@RicketySkiReviews Cool. Thanks for the perspective.
      Follow up question: Are the QST line of skis covering the off-piste emphasis about as much as the Maverick and Kore are covering the on-piste emphasis? In my view, both these categories are a bit of a double-duty. Make sense? Or disagree?

I hope my “Speed Dating” concept gave you some ideas. The Kore 93 looked solid while carving… no chatter or bouncing. Head core 93 way out performed the QST.. the shovel of the QST is just weird .. great review

    I’m a little surprised you said they crush poor off piste conditions. This may just be a skier skill issue, but I found they were easily deflected when skiing in poor spring conditions. I attributed it to the lightness and my opinion was that they were light stiff skis that were fun when conditions were “good” (ie corn, groomers, etc.), but as soon as there were little chunks of variable conditions, like ice chunks in otherwise sun softened snow or heavier slop, they felt significantly worse than heavier skis that share the same stiffness profiles. Literally have never been less happy on a pair of skis when I ended up in refrozen crud on a demo day.
    I know ski preference is insanely subjective, but just need a bit of a sanity check: in poor conditions, you find that the kore performs as well or better than its heavier alternatives?
    For context, I ride on on3p woodsman 96 most days like that, and I demoed the kore 93 next to an enforcer, m pro 91 and bonafides.

    • @imoldandyoureinmyway
      @imoldandyoureinmyway 3 месяца назад

      I've got both this ski and the Bonafides. The Heads will always come second in comparison to the Bonafides in crap conditions, or frankly any ski with as much metal and weight. Bonafides will just crush everything in their way. I think you have to take it in context, for such a light, carveable ski, the Heads do pretty well in the cut up stuff.

      My biggest complaint on them is usually on icy bumps. They feel a bit light and pingy in those areas but Im really heavy. The shape keeps them compliant enough, but they chatter. That said, my Kore 105 might be my best floating ski. I'm not sure there is a better ski for making airborne turns in a couple inches of fresh. (Topsheet) durability is bad and they keep trying to change it a bit to make it better.

      I'm on the East Coast and have 2023 Stormrider 95s - they are OK, but I need to use my race boots with them as the stiff tips throw you about in the chopped up sugar we have now. Also, the earlier Stormriders had a wider tip - the 2023 ones are only 123mm for a 184 and I prefer the older ones I tried - they were 132mm
