This happens because driving in ice creates a wave under the ice and if you’re going fast the wave eventually overtakes you if you slow down the ice cracks and down you go. Also because they scripted it and there was always a hole with water under the snow

The moments you experience with the car regardless of whether it works or breaks down. Clarksons quote at the end was poetic about the Audi. A Quattro isn't just for Christmas. A Quattro is for life! So happy to see these 3 back at it again doing what they do best. Thank you all for a life time of memories. Its sad to see them burn by the fire of time but i guess we all have to age one day. It looks like the water is only like 3-4ft deep + like 10-14in of ice on top. I didn't see the car "floating" per say when it went in. Looked more like it touched the bottom.

I assume there was no attachment point to pull it out from the front, if they needed to keep the engine out of the water? The back end was already in the water so pulling it from the back was always going to sink the engine.

Because they don't know how thick the ice is in front of the car. They know it will hold behind it because he drove it from that direction. In front of the car it could be thinner and by going infront of it could cause all the cars to go through
