Who else gasped out loud when the ice collapsed? 😳 ✋
I yawned.
Does that help?
I know that Top Gear was somewhat scripted as well. But The Grand Tour is just too much scripted.
Or maybe it's just more obvious.
It was sooo fake. Perfect car shaped hole in the ice??? Why didn't you race the cars?
No it is not funny because it is another episode awhile ago❤❤
I did
This happens because driving in ice creates a wave under the ice and if you’re going fast the wave eventually overtakes you if you slow down the ice cracks and down you go. Also because they scripted it and there was always a hole with water under the snow
The amount of times James crashed on this, honestly made me wonder if Hammond gave him a bit of his own luck
To quote Jeremy Clarkson after he flipped his own car:
“Now I know what it’s like to be Richard Hammond.”
Quite frankly, it thought they'd switched bodies at one point. Like some twisted Freaky Friday stuff.
Same thought mate. 😂😂😂
@@arynheath2381 Hammond would love that though. He'd finally be tall!
More than a bit. Likely the entire unlucky horse and shoes😅
This has to be one of the best bits of ingenuity from the team I've ever seen. When something serious goes wrong they always come together to help solve it
Indeed. Congratulations to the scriptwriters, the storyboard team and the production crew who all helped bring this skit to life.
@@AtheistOrphan yes obviously they have a crew and medics etc on site following them, do you think people don't know that so you have to point it out? Doesn't matter whether its their idea of if the crew helped them, fact is, is that the car genuinely went into the lake and they got it out, who gives a shit other than you whether it's staged, partly staged or real? The answer is no one. You must be fun at parties
@@anotherhappylanding4746 Santa Claus is fictitious.
@@anotherhappylanding4746 sorry to break it to you, but this bit was planned roughly a year ahead of shooting.
@@quir0 yes it was expected the car would go through the lake but the producers knew the lake wasn't deep at all you monkey
I love how handy Hammond is with these survival stuff, very helpful, I was impressed when I saw the solution he implemented in saving the EVO
The Agri Yob
@@kwanlinus6999 sorry, what's that mean?
Top gear thing
@@mohamedsalahdimessi1721 yob/yobbo is a UK term for a sort of hooligan/rowdy youth, Jeremy calls Richard the angry yob in top gear, particularly in the Africa special
@@hanilockley8074 I looked it up, basically from what I've understood is Kaleb
The way James is shaking the moment he realized he crashed through the ice.. even my anxiety kicked in 😂
Ever saw ice road truckers?. Imagine going through the ice with a truck.and trailer. Ever saw once it was not allowed to wear ur seatbelt while driving on a frozen lake. Because, if it did happen, that the truck fell through ... they could jump out the truck, and not be strained, or blocked from the seatbelt that could take a few seconds to save urself before the truck is sinking, no?
The fact that James still believes in the Evo and it still kept going makes me speechless and in shock, now that’s respect
It actually started after that??
@@roymcdre9180 Yep, totally, and just before that, it survived a big crash against a rock wall in a tunnel ^^'
Yup......Evos were a Monster back then, it's a shame Mitsubi don't make em anymore@@roymcdre9180
They always make fun of Hammond but when they get in trouble they always go to him he’s like the smart one out of the group.
Jeremy is the best driver, James has the most knowledge and Richard is the most practical!
@@astradiesel Richard is the best driver. They said Richard is the best racer of the 3 and best driver.
Err it's TV. It's scripted. Do you honestly think that Hammond knew what to do?.
I work in Tv, yes its brilliant entertainment but don't be fooled.
If you have ever seen any of his other shows, he is very practical, he picks things up very quickly
when did they say this?
Another example of Hammond's knowledge and genius.
Yeah. But does it generate gravity? 🤨
Is Hammond stealing Clarkson's title of "Genius"? 😮 ruclips.net/video/jJ3Tdb0969A/видео.html
Agreed. His scriptwriters and director are very skilled indeed.
@@AtheistOrphan Oh shut the hell up. But what can I aspect from someone who puts "atheist" in their user name and uses a "No religion" profile picture? We get it, you have a tiny peen and try to be an edge lord to make up for it.
@@AtheistOrphan I think it's more because of how much experience Hammond has with crashing. Especially back in around 2008 when the Vampire Dragster almost killed him.
You guys broke character for a second when the ice broke through lol. It’s all fun and games until there’s a bit of actual concern when it happened. This is why everyone loves you guys.
I was personally more scared with this crash than when James crashed in the tunnel. We knew about the tunnel, but not this one.
The tunnel crash was genuine but this is SOOO fake!
this was so setup...a single hole in the middle of a frozen lake?? come on!
You can't really set up a crash like this
@@Jtmissile Come on man. A car falls through the ice, but miraculously doesn't go all the way through thanks to the splitter resting on a rock or something. Also do you really think the production team would trust RH and JC to save May, by going off to chop down trees, meanwhile not one medic or emergency crew checks on May. I'm sorry, it's completely made up
Definitely not a set up if you look at James' immediate reaction. The whole rescue process was a bit protracted and scripted but he definitely broke the ice and beached it for real.
Sometimes Hammond's genius generates more gravity than Clarkson's .
But if you listen very carefully, can you hear his genius as well? 🧠 ruclips.net/user/shorts7EcPuCwkiCc
Who knew Hammond had genius?
I am genuinely impressed at how these three handled the situation on this occasion.
As big a Subaru guy as I am, I have a new-found respect for the Evo thanks to this special. It crashed twice, the second time in icy water, and it was resurrected both times for James to finish the challenge.
Those Evos were absolutely incredible engineering. Shame Mitsubishi has never done anything like it since.
@@lopey5035@lopey5035 That they were; one of them is now part of my dream garage.
Honestly that evo has been through hell and back and still made it to the end
If there's one thing I love about these guys, it's their unique resourcefulness. Especially at their ages. Ass kicking grandpas, all of them.
Jeremy was too happy to use his Audi to save the Evo.
I'm sure he felt sssooo useful 😅
Crazy to imagine what would of happened, if he got pulled under. Insanely lucky
I don’t reckon he can swim
That's not the problem, water sends a ton more cold temperature into you than air does, so freezing water, even brief, can be lethal
(would have or would've, but never would of)
I have never taken my car on the local lake because I am always paranoid about this. Not for my safety, but because I don't want to lose the car.
That plan by Hammond to get the car out was utter genius
Poor James being soaked with freezing cold water as he struggles to get out with all the pain of s cracked rib. And he ignores all that discomfort to worry about the Evo. :)
Someone cover that man in bubble wrap already!
The moment he went through you can hear how properly serious Jeremy and Richard took it. When they established James was going to be okay then they went back to joking about.
I feel bad for james having to clime out of the car on a broken rib, that had to hurt a lot.
I could watch these three, in an elder care home, racing wheelchairs. All day long.
That will be called The Grand Tour (Old Petrolheads Home) 2045
@@carlh429 🤣 👍
@@carlh429 The Last Tour
The incredible ingenuity of the manual winch absolutely amazed me.
Hammond's camping experience really shines through in moments like these. The improvisation is impeccable!
I am pleasantly surprised, and amazed, that these three are still alive and well.
This segment was Final Destination times for James. Death was gunning for him for sure this time round.
It's amazing how the car mechanics saved this vehicle.
James May has my deepest respect after watching this episode.
Hammond may be the one always in trouble, but that also means he knows best how to get out of trouble
He's learnt from experience 👀 ruclips.net/video/6yjNQ_9NL90/видео.html
There will never be a trio like the boys who worked together for so many years and entertained us. These shows both TG(before the trios exit) and GT will forever remain the greatest car show EVER.
And nothing is even close to it
Honestly my favorite episode.
What was your favourite moment from The Grand Tour: A Scandi Flick?
@@thegrandtour james crashing into the wall for me 100%
The only moment in history when James wasn’t slow.
Yep james smashing into the wall
I love how handy Hammond is with these survival stuff, very helpful😀
They did a teamwork!
And this is why you can never ever replace these 3
This part really impressed me, Hammond with the RUclips survival techniques was just brilliant
I like how the sign at the start says "No entry"
Its funny how Richard fell in love with Oliver which was a yellow color car and james clearly developed a connection with the Evo which is also yellow. 😅 IMO that's what makes cars special. The moments you experience with the car regardless of whether it works or breaks down. Clarksons quote at the end was poetic about the Audi. A Quattro isn't just for Christmas. A Quattro is for life! So happy to see these 3 back at it again doing what they do best. Thank you all for a life time of memories. Its sad to see them burn by the fire of time but i guess we all have to age one day. Not 1 adventure where they haven't ever made it entertaining to watch.
Hammonds watching rescue videos payed off and the Evo is made out of steel it indestructible
amazom you keep everyone warm this winter
-don't go anywhere, James
-oh no, i was just about to go for a coffee
"Float, float FLOAT!... EVOOOOOO!!!"
😂
"You should try driving over here, it's all flat"
Famous Last Words
The ski lift and sledge was the best part 😂
Using the towball as a recovery point is insanely dangerous. Standing that close you’ll lose your head if it comes off.
No choice
"pääsy kieletty" = "access denied" ... If only someone told them that 😂
it's so satisfying to watch this that winch was so clever
Absolutely brilliant well done getting that car out of that ice like that good thinking
dire situation but complete harmony in the team! excellent solution!
Pretty impressive that they got it out
That is why us here in Canada 🇨🇦. When going out ice fishing, in any vehicle. Roll your windows down, seat belts uncliped. Just incase you need to make an emergency exit. Comman sentence for most people.
TBH, that work amazingly well. Much better then a would have thought.
when may went through the ice I found that a bit funny but then with hammonds solution I was staggerd and the fact that actrually worked should remember that could come in handy
As an Canadian who battles mountains of snow nearly every winter in a pickup truck, I highly recommend this. 😂
luxx ur first nice
also keep on powering through grand tour team 😁
Nice work Hammond
It's clear that May was never in real danger but still it was impressive how they save the car
Brilliant!
that was actually so impressive
Sometimes Hammond’s genius… is almost frightening!
i pay Prime Video only for your show! saludos desde tlaquepaque jalisco mexico
In the Scandi Flick, James is Hammond crashing all the time and Hammond is no doubt, captain slow.
This will probably go down as their finest moment as a team.
"I like driving all the way over here it's all flat." Gee James I wonder why it's so flat 😂😂
That first tree didn't fall the way it was cut to fall and the second one didn't look it was going to either lol. Was an ingenious solution though
james and that evo really went through a lot in this series
First time I've seen jermey helpful (in some way at least) xD
Clarkson's genius of being objective: V8
All 3 cars are so cool.
Wow what a great plan Hamond has
Damn, Hamster really came through on this one. I couldn't believe it worked.
what's up with James may and crushing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
They'll never admit to it. But there had been some genuine moments where they care, when something like this happens. Clarkson may act like he doesn't care, but we all know he does
Like the Atacama desert
Im impressed
Protocol dictates that in a situation like this the two remaining lads abandon him and continue with the challenge. The fact they all worked together to not only save their friend but the car also is astonishing. These guys are getting soft.
The fact they saved the evo, is crazy without a truck and crane😮
Hammond's plan was brilliant
Brilliant plan 😲😳
This was James's lucky episode for sure.
AUDI SAVES THE DAY AGAIN.WHAT A CAR❤️💪.Quattro at its best use👀🤝😎
Awesome video. 👌👌.
It looks like the water is only like 3-4ft deep + like 10-14in of ice on top. I didn't see the car "floating" per say when it went in. Looked more like it touched the bottom.
I gasped big time at this
F***ing hell I love this show
That 2008 RS4 was admittedly a pretty good...For not being a rally car.
lOVE jAMES jACKET
It could only be James!
In MN US there is a speed limit on ice, 55MPH or about 85KPH.
Living up to the nickname Captain Slow, even when the car is taking on water.
I'm just happy that James escaped.
and they even taught jeremy about torque inadvertantly
That sheer panic from James demn scary...
Hammond: saw this on the net and i figured how
4th presenter: im scared to know but okay *gets to work*
That is the beauty of the internet
Can please upload full video
Awesome
For all the laughs and the foolishness the boys get up too, this was genuinely smart and executed very well.
I assume there was no attachment point to pull it out from the front, if they needed to keep the engine out of the water? The back end was already in the water so pulling it from the back was always going to sink the engine.
Because they don't know how thick the ice is in front of the car. They know it will hold behind it because he drove it from that direction. In front of the car it could be thinner and by going infront of it could cause all the cars to go through
Mitsubishi nunca muere en éste capítulo, saludos desde Chile.
I pulled my brothers 4x4 blazer out of some deep snow with my audi 90 quattro.......what a car!!!! QUATTRO!!!!!!!
when the evo got stuck and almost drowned, half of my soul is leaving my body
