As a former lm1 owner the sound is near on identical but the timing seems missing 'something' , i had serial 91 with engraved buttons and with factory sync input bus
Luma-1 runs the same exact schematics for the tempo clock. The nuances in timing (or other word "feeling") are the same as it would be between LM-1 and another LM-1.
I can only suggest a blind test. Program the pattern on your LM1, dump it to cassette and sent it to us. We will play it back. We keep repeating, Luma-1 runs the original hardware, including 40 y.o. DACs, Z80, clocking scheme and Roger Linn's software. It's not any different. The difference comes from extended features, where additional modern CPU can reload sounds, support MIDI and USB, dump EPROM, create banks, supports drum layering, retrigger, playback offset etc etc.
Overpriced sampler... I own a lm1 and the timing is not right... Too clean. No life, no swing, no random stuff happening.. it can never sound like an original u less you use the original 1 to 1 old stuff...
This is the original 1:1 "stuff" for sound generation and timing control on everything including unmodified LM-1 code. Plus the modern addition to control the sound loading etc. Make a beat on your LM-1, record it via analog and save a cassette dump. I'll replay on Luma-1.
So cool.
i have the LM-1 and i am very impressed !!!!
This is simply WONDERFUL !!! what an amazing project, and incredible news in the updates.. good stuff man !
Sounds FANTASTIC! 👏👏
Fantastic, sounds so crisp!
Amazing, just amazing!!!
4:44 when doves cry
As others have stated, pattern 06-09 is certainly When Doves Cry. Just add a little flange to the toms and you got it.
Sweet 👌
No David Garibaldi pattern that Prince used for The Time’s ‘777-9311’ ? That was one of the factory patterns.
David has said it wasn’t him, but agreed. Someone needs to dial up 777 on this thing. GIVE THE PEOPLE WGST THEY WANT!
Sounds excellent. Is there any chance of a comparison video with Joe’s original LM-1 out of curiosity? Keep up the great work!
Of course!
@@DeftAudio amazing!!
#20 🔥
Human League - Love and Dancing? If it is that would be incredible! Some very simular patterns in that.
Maybe this is missing a few patterns. I thought the pattern to 777-9311 was part of the factory presets.
Exactly. I think these are user patterns.
I have it on good authority they are. They are excellent, but yes user. @@r0nes
Patterns 06-09 we’re definitely Prince; specifically “Little Red Corvette.”
Agreed, it sounds very inspired by Prince. Could be that somebody just imitated them, not a copy from Prince LM1.
❤
00 sounds like Kiss (Prince).

@@DeftAudiolol sorry but just one little change changed everything
@@synthland4526 It's the same difference as between one LM-1 and another one.
14 sounds like Human League ‘Do or Die’
Hmmm … versus hi-res samples?! 🤔🤔🤔
Can you pitch the sounds like the original ?
Of course, it's in video.
Definitely *not* the factory patterns..
True
So cool Deft. I want one but refuse to use IG. Hopefully someone can send me a contact. Thanks!

As an owner of a real LM-1 I can say this does not sound the same. It’s close but definitely not the same.

That was awesome!!
