It was clever to link Cindy to a brand new family because it instantly places her at the centre of the show, connected to both the classic and current era.
This week has been so good!

They won't because Ian banished her from the family for betraying him and Jane and leaving Bobby that recording of her telling him that he killed Lucy!

Gina and Anna think they have problems. Cindy abandoned Cindy Jr at birth and then went on to have two more kids and stay with them for a few years.

Omg what an incredible and shocking week of Eastenders I’ve loved every ep this week.
And all this time Cindy had REMARRIED & ANOTHER FAMILY while she was in hiding living in Spain (2nd husband: George Knight & 2 daughters: Anna & Gina). Before she eventually ABANDONED them & went away to live in France (with her 1st husband: Ian Beale & their surviving son Peter - her 1st family). Why does Cindy keep on having kids & then eventually abandons them at some point in their lives while they're growing up? She wasn't even at the funerals of her daughter Lucy in 2014 or her eldest on Steven in 2017. Some mum she is! Cindy's got 6 kids with 4 different men. Two of the men were her husbands, another 2 were flings. Cindy had Steven (with Simon). Then twins: Peter & Lucy (with first husband: Ian Beale). Then Cindy Jnr (with a man called Nicky Holland) - a brief fling. Finally Anna & Gina (with husband number 2: George Knight) - while Cindy was living under the name of Rose Knight. Technically it's 4 kids Cindy has got now - as Steven & Lucy are both now deceased.
It's better than having 4 kids with 6 different blokes. 🤷
When you break it down like this I get even more angry with Cindy.
Only Abi attended Steven's funeral not Peter,Simon didn't fly all the way back to the UK from NZ for his son's funeral.
Edit: Or Cindy Jr didn't hear about her oldest brother and sibling death.

This stuff is getting very confusing. Cindy now likes Ian now and Ian knew she was alive all this time? Pat Butcher was the one that told Ian that Cindy died in 1998. I dip in and out of Eastender from time to time. I watch this out of curiosity. This has turned me off from watching this again. Very ridiculous setup for Cindy's comeback. Nearly as bad as Dirty Den comeback.
We were meant to think that she died. Going into witness protection means leaving your old life and starting a new life with a new identity. It’s not hard.

@Guitar-qv6gu Yes, if that was the setup to begin with. However, this is Eastender. Nothing is planned out that way. Pat told Ian that she died in childbirth. So, by that logic, Pat was in on as well. It's just a lazy retcon/bad story setup if you ask me. I wish the writers would stop bringing back dead characters. Who next, Ian's Dad Pete? Sorry, if people like this setup, then fair enough. I just find this very confusing and unbelievable.
Gina is a very troubled girl , bit of a liability aswell , but no wonder , her mum has messed her up .
I feel sorry for her. She was the oldest and knew her mother longer than Anna did so I understand the impact was too much. Anna was younger and only remembered certain aspects of Cindy
