Starlink Launch Visible Over Downtown Los Angeles

  • DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8 (KNN) - Another Starlink launch graced the skies over Downtown Los Angeles shortly after 12 a.m. Friday.
    Per information via SpaceX, SpaceX is targeting Friday, December 8 for a Falcon 9 launch of 22 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. Liftoff is targeted for 12:03 a.m. PT, with backup opportunities available until 2:15 a.m. PT on Friday, December 8. If needed, additional opportunities are also available on Saturday, December 9 starting at 12:06 a.m. PT.
    According to SpaceX, this is the 13th flight for the first stage booster supporting this mission, which previously launched NROL-87, NROL-85, SARah-1, SWOT, Transporter-8, Transporter-9, and six Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the "Of Course I Still Love You" droneship, which will be stationed in the Pacific Ocean.

    I've seen starlink twice... it's looks like a train of stars smh

      They only do that for a short while after they ente orbit. They eventually spread out and dim. There are actually plenty passing by all the time above wherever you live as that's required for the constant Internet connection. But you won't see most of them now.
      Can sometimes catch them if it's just after sunset or just before sunrise though.

    Startrash, in 15 years technology will evolve and render all that trash obsolete.

      "...implement an operations plan for the orderly de-orbit of satellites nearing the end of their useful lives (roughly five to seven years) at a rate far faster than is required under international standards. [Satellites] will de-orbit by propulsively moving to a disposal orbit from which they will re-enter the Earth's atmosphere within approximately one year after completion of their mission."

      And how's technology is supposed to evolve if we don't use and develop technology we currently have, like starling, which is, btw the first time that you can have reliable Internet even if you live way outside a city
