  • SpaceX is targeting Wednesday, January 20 for its seventeenth Starlink mission, which will launch 60 Starlink satellites from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center. The instantaneous window is at 8:02 a.m. EST, or 13:02 UTC.
The Falcon 9 first stage rocket booster supporting this mission previously flew on seven other missions: the SXM-7 mission in December 2020, launch of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission in June 2019, launch of Crew Dragon’s first demonstration mission in March 2019, and four Starlink missions. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Just Read the Instructions” droneship, which will be located in the Atlantic Ocean. One half of Falcon 9’s fairing previously supported a Starlink mission and the other previously supported two.

I'm sure there are still carrier landings that have happened in worse weather but the weather here was certainly not 'absolutely perfect'. This rocket CAN land in not only a slight breeze, but a significant one.

    This is insane.
The booster has landed for the eighth time, which is an incredible achievement. But it did that in raging winds. If you've ever driven on a highway with strong winds, you know how "little" surface area is needed for wind to show you who the boss is. Now that's just your car, or yes, your truck. But that's a flying vehicle with an incredibly high surface area, coming from space.

Man I wish we got to see the booster telemetry. I’m really curious about how slow it needs to make itself for safe atmospheric reentry

Watch NROL 108 mission they had live landing telemetry, I think it was due to the landing zone they used. That was the first time I saw that.

@@seandeken2269 yea I seen this apparently, but never took notice back then.
I found it interesting how they reduced the speed to about 250m/s. I’m not too sure what speed starts excessive heating, but I’m sure they ensured the speed was well away from it.
I also found it interesting during descent when it enters 20km in altitude how the thick air slows the booster down dramatically, as expected.

Thank you guys for always striving to move humanity forward. I'm really tired of people constantly trying to drag us back to the past. There's no going back. Progress can only be stalled. Prosperity comes through innovation and adaption.

*THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY*
With internet, companies can expand into undeveloped areas. That will bring money and work to a community! Africa have been suffering, high degress educated leaves the country for job somewhere else. this is a game changer, INTERNET and ELECTRICITY are the key to fight poverty!

No, the fight against poverty could literally end tomorrow if the rich, including Musk of course, paid their fair share of taxes.

    • @Repz98
      @Repz98 3 года назад

@@theflaggeddragon9472 That's actually pretty stupid to say. if rich people was taxed to hell, they wouldnt be able to invent things. Just like old China (during communism) never was able to create anything. There economic was terrible until they become state capitalism.
To fight poverty you need infrastructure, not cash. When you have access to internet and electricity, compaines will come and make people stay instead of leave to another 1st world country.
Elon Musk's wealth, and the top 1% are just paper wealth, they own things in shares and property. What doesnt really matter, you can have a billion or more, and still live an average american citizens life style. What matters are how they spend the money.
Anyway, wealth are created, you turn a tree into a book and it will be more valuable for the humans.. if someone owns a lot of value, that doesn't impact the other people value. What effects other people are if rich elites capitalist doing government contracts that drains the public tax money, where the government run dry on money and have to print money that indirectly reduce your physical or digitally savings.
Trump understood it right, when he said the only way to fix Syria after the war is to invest 50B into infrastructure, so it can attract businesses. from there people choose to stay, and value are created into the community, which reduce poverty.
