Starlink Mission

- Опубликовано: 2 ноя 2024
- SpaceX is targeting Wednesday, January 20 for its seventeenth Starlink mission, which will launch 60 Starlink satellites from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center. The instantaneous window is at 8:02 a.m. EST, or 13:02 UTC.
The Falcon 9 first stage rocket booster supporting this mission previously flew on seven other missions: the SXM-7 mission in December 2020, launch of the RADARSAT Constellation Mission in June 2019, launch of Crew Dragon’s first demonstration mission in March 2019, and four Starlink missions. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the “Just Read the Instructions” droneship, which will be located in the Atlantic Ocean. One half of Falcon 9’s fairing previously supported a Starlink mission and the other previously supported two.

It seems like they can land a rocket more precise than pilots can land their plane. It´s meter precision!
Not to mention on a platform bobbing up and down in the ocean and most certainly drifting somewhat.
Self driving cars are just around the corner for public use. They will be controlled by computers, a lot safer and faster and efficient than a human being. Think of no more accidents. Cruise control in steroids.
@@DrSardonicus Personally I have great respect for carrier pilots, however this landing WAS done in high wind conditions - The commentators say as much (Maybe you missed it). I'm sure there are still carrier landings that have happened in worse weather but the weather here was certainly not 'absolutely perfect'. This rocket CAN land in not only a slight breeze, but a significant one.
Just like people shouldn't trivialize the skill that goes into performing a carrier landing, you shouldn't trivialize the amount of coding and fine-tuning that went into making this booster as accurate and weather resistant as it is.
@@DrSardonicus they literally just landed in unfavorable conditions. Maybe not the 'unfavorable' your looking for, but in terms of rocket landings, this was the choppiest I've ever seen it out there. Plus we forget they've only been doing this for a few years!

I dunno, BO had to have been better than the coverage for the SLS green run. They were positive it was going to be successful that they didn't bother to have a script for when it failed. They just went on like it passed and that they were shipping it off to Florida when they gotta do it again.

That was a very windy landing! I love that they are testing in less than ideal circumstances as things will not always be ideal when traveling to and from Mars. GG's SpaceX!!
One of things that will he important with making spaceflight more like traditional airlines is the ability to fly in unfavorable weather.
Can't wait for them to be like "Yeah, there's a blizzard goin on but let's fly that thing!"
@@WasatchWind Falcon 9 has to fit under standard overpasses so that limited the diameter to 3.7 m and so they stretched it to gain performance. This made Falcon a very skinny rocket and more susceptible to wind changes at altitude. Starship by both having a much larger diameter (9m) compared to it's height and due to it's larger size and mass will be less susceptible to bad weather. At some point they did mention the ability to launch inside a storm, as that may be necessary in the future. Soyuz enjoys launching in the middle of blizzards too.

Wait, that's weird. I thought this stream was uploaded hours ago but it was uploaded just a few minutes ago!
The droneships needs Starlink communication, so the feed is not lost on landing xD
It has to do with the vibrations of the booster landing. The vibrations disrupt the signal
It's not an internet problem. The boosters vibrate the ship so much that we experience signal loss.
I'm sure it will once they get sat coverage in those lattitudes.
@@adam6806 it’s not a coverage issue with the landing feed. It has to do with the vibrations disrupting it’s signal to the satellite in space. It’s a direct signal rather than a broad wave of signals
@@austinverlinden2236 it's a coverage issue to use starlink. Starlink says can beam steer digitally. Is it beyond their capability to counteract vibrations?
The drone ship needs a Starlink satellite because it always looses connection while landing
no i think falcon 9 just blast the living shit out of the lens
It’s really hard to fix that tbh, no matter your internet connection it’s always gonna go out because the rocket blasts the absolute shit out of everything nearby, including the internet, so the only real solution would be wired internet but those boats are a few miles off the coast so it’s just kinda not possible
Stralink wouldnt chane anything
It won’t change it. The signals get disrupted due to the vibration of the booster landing
@@austinverlinden2236 I guess the feed for the public is not important because they could fix that with a 5 second buffer. delay that feed to the public by 5 sec (the time it takes to recover) and shop that jumbled part off. no body would care about the 5 sec delay on this.
Love the pre launch audio from the rocket , reminds of a submarine all the loud value opening and closing noises it makes...

Today's fact: Restaurants can sing 'Happy Birthday' now because the copyrights claims are now invalid. Judge George H. King ruled that a copyright filed in 1935, granted only the rights to specific piano arrangements of the music, not the song itself.
Well guess what I'm not gonna do today because restaurants are closed.
Why would anyone down vote this?
Must be Bezos supporters.
I think some people just like to be different. I don't think they actually dislike it.
Some people will always believe the earth is flat + Antarctica is a giant ice wall that the U.S. government and NASA prohibit visitation to (because it's totally not a colossal waste of resources to do so + there are no international treaties that prohibit such a thing) + this is all CGI. Incidentally, these same people only superficially know the mechanics of Computer Generated Imagery. These individuals reliably downvote such amazing online broadcasts.
Everyone so attacks Blue Origin... the thing is, they aren't detrimental to SpaceX's vision - They are also seeking to do reusable spaceflight, albeit much slower than SpaceX.
No, what we are looking at is supporters of the old guard space companies like Boeing, who refuse to change. Then of course, you have the flat earthers... yuck

*THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY*
With internet, companies can expand into undeveloped areas. That will bring money and work to a community! Africa have been suffering, high degress educated leaves the country for job somewhere else. this is a game changer, INTERNET and ELECTRICITY are the key to fight poverty!
I mean they ain't gonna provide that internet for free either ^^
@@Schlimpiwe No, but the State of a 1st world country will. Instead of my nations spending billions on stuff projects to fight poverty, like making Volleyball fields in Bolivia, they could rather consider make internet access points in multiple undeveloped areas.
@@Repz98 I don't disagree but I doubt it's going to happen.
No, the fight against poverty could literally end tomorrow if the rich, including Musk of course, paid their fair share of taxes.
@@theflaggeddragon9472 That's actually pretty stupid to say. if rich people was taxed to hell, they wouldnt be able to invent things. Just like old China (during communism) never was able to create anything. There economic was terrible until they become state capitalism.
To fight poverty you need infrastructure, not cash. When you have access to internet and electricity, compaines will come and make people stay instead of leave to another 1st world country.
Elon Musk's wealth, and the top 1% are just paper wealth, they own things in shares and property. What doesnt really matter, you can have a billion or more, and still live an average american citizens life style. What matters are how they spend the money.
Anyway, wealth are created, you turn a tree into a book and it will be more valuable for the humans.. if someone owns a lot of value, that doesn't impact the other people value. What effects other people are if rich elites capitalist doing government contracts that drains the public tax money, where the government run dry on money and have to print money that indirectly reduce your physical or digitally savings.
Trump understood it right, when he said the only way to fix Syria after the war is to invest 50B into infrastructure, so it can attract businesses. from there people choose to stay, and value are created into the community, which reduce poverty.
I'm a shallow minded guy, but this narrator is a friggin knockout! Love SpaceX, too!
