On this week's episode of RYGTBKM, a car buyer gets $17,750 OFF a 2023 Toyota bZ4X (but also gets almost $2k of dealer add-ons...); Tesla's online prices may be a bit misleading; and a man who is upside-down on his Tesla Model 3 seeks advice from Ray and Zach. - Развлечения
The guy with the 2022 Tesla 3 LR just needs to keep the car. I know he "wants" something a little bigger, but if it's just him and his son, the car should be plenty big enough. Taking out a personal loan for $15k to cover depreciation on a vehicle is INSANE.
Living within your means what a shocker
Agree. I wonder if there is a leadership failure for not advising their Juniors properly or a bad personal decision? Looking at this show for the past couple years, you knew this situation was likely.
prople love the new car smell. it is addictive.
@@Sayonkiller you have no idea what his income is, the extra payment may be trivial to him, we just don't know. He wants something bigger and wants help if smart or dumb to just pay the depreciation to get what he wants. I personally wouldn't do it but if made 100K a year then maybe I would.
I live in central WA State and am very familiar with the town of Klamath Falls, OR. The key here is the name Lithia, and when I see any dealership that is owned by Lithia I run away as fast as I can. I will NEVER buy a car from any of these big chain dealerships. It is getting harder to find a small family owned new car dealer and that is why I now buy only a used car. This may be why people are not buying new cars and are opting to buy only used cars
That reminds of dealers who deduct college student, military, and employee discounts from the price, knowing most people will not qualify for them.
I bought my 23 Model 3 right before the prices were reduced. It is now worth a lot less than what is loaned on it, I plan to drive that car until the wheels fall off. Best way to get the most out of the bad decision.
Telsa is still way more transparent than a traditional dealership. They show both ways to look at the car's price. You can toggle the price, make a descision and never, ever have the pressure of a traditional salesperson. 100% better experience than any dealership I have ever dealt with in my life.
Ray is a retired salesman for a car dealer. Of course he won’t like Tesla. 😂
So basically pay the asking price and be upside down thousands in a year or two. So transparent.
@@Raza-isack dumb dumb. The reason he is upside down is teslas lowered the price significantly after he bought the car.
@@Raza-isack you haven’t been paying attention, have you?
@@Raza-isack if you're racking up 15k miles a year you'll be upside down thousands in any new car.
I agree with Ray that Dealers need better transparency. My old Honda Odyssey was totaled. I made a huge mistake of accepting the insurance companies payoff offer which was based off local area advertised prices. If I have a lesson to learn is that dealers will want to charge 15% - 25% upcharge from advertised prices. Had I been smart, I would have negotiated my insurance to also include these upcharge amounts.
I just walked out of a deal over 699 for road pro I don’t want and they wouldn’t budge on, I had put a deposit down and was ready to make the sale but they wouldn’t move so I left. Another dealer said they have to charge me for a block heater for the Mazda 3 GX because it’s what they do. They had one inbound and I said just don’t put it in then when it gets here, they said OH no we can’t do that, well then bye and left that dealership too!
Just hit the toggle button, it’s not that big of a deal. It’s not buried in paperwork or some kind of trick. To me, they’re just showing what’s possible. Love the videos and keep up the great work!
Exactly this. They fail to mention the toggle cause it takes away from their dramatics.
Including the potential savings is a way to get through to shortsighted customers who tend to only look at the purchase price, and disregard the lower operating cost. Regarding Ray's indignant demands to know how the savings could be relevant to a particular shopper's local fuel and electricity markets, the web page shown prominently offers a "customize" feature where those parameters can be adjusted.
Reminds me of the one that Chevy Dude had a few weeks ago where he found a Mustang Mach E GT that the buyer was being charged $1000 for VIN etching on the catalytic converter. They charged that on all cars they sold.
Now,
1.) VIN etching is an absolute scam.
2.) VIN etching a catalytic converter is stupid. Do you really think anyone is going to look at them if they recover a stolen cat?
3.) THERE IS NO CATALYTIC CONVERTER ON AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE!!!
Throwing good money after bad is never a good idea. Live with it is good advice. Also, Live and learn.
8:07 live with it. I bought a bolt in 22, more than 35k including taxes and fees. now I'm crying with the used Hertz value of my car
I bought a new 2021 bolt (in 2022) for $26k after GM sent me a$5k check because they discounted the 2022 bolts by $5k.
I think it needs to be mentioned that the "Lifetime Oils" is something that Lithia owned Toyota dealers often throw in for "free" via deducting the cost of the service off the price of the car. They did this for my family at Lithia Toyota of Medford in Oregon, a few hours from Klamath Falls. With that said, it's unbelievably goofy they added it to an EV deal regardless of if it's free or not.
Dealerships really love to charge that thousand dollars for oil changes. A few years ago they were giving that out as an incentive to buy the car.
And if you never plan too, or can't return to the same dealership after you purchase the vehicle? Can you get this removed? (Ha, I joke)
Yeah. Toyota had that on there. I told them to drop it or I'm walking. $1k on oil changes is insane when I can change it myself or get it changed for $50 down the road from my place.
@@georgejones5019 Yeah, they had about 8k of addons on mine including that. I told them I didn't want any of it. The guy got mad and demanded to know why I didn't see the value in it.
@@perryelyod4870 just tell them you don't want it.
I don't know about after the purchase.
thank y'all for all you do
Screw "opinion". Ray is spitting facts.
Saving fuel cost? Pay me now or pay me later. What is the replacement battery cost and cost of charging. I suspect gas comes out ahead in the end.
Used EV purchasing - is kind of like buying an empty flashlight and then finding your old flashlight - taking the batteries out of it to install in the new one...
Got recommended this channel just in time for me looking for a car
My car lease was up in Jan with GMC. I talked to 4 of the top dealer in my area and it took 3 months of all the nonsense talking and negot. I got the car msrp 46k for 38k and a waved doc fee that they had at $695 It took too long these dealers dont want to budge too much. When I went to pick up my car the dealer said we had to talk for 3months so i can make my money on other people to get you your price. You can watch all the video you want but if the dealer doesnt wanna part with the car at your price and you need a car then your gonna pay or wait for a better month. Excellent credit matters anything over 750 gets your top tier. Happy Buying
I have a Subaru Solterra (twin vehicle) I got huge discounts too but nothing extra tagged on, this is insane. Our maintenance is focused on brakes, we don't need to change the EV Motor lubricant for years and Coolant for 5-7 years depending on driving habits, I am so glad we don't allow markups these in Canada.
I asked to test-drive a car yesterday but the sales manager told the salesman I couldn’t without crunching numbers first. (They already copied my license & the vehicle was used.) I walked away in disgust. This a common practice nowadays?
READ YOUR DOCUMENTS BEFORE YOU SIGN!!! Its NOT that hard of a concept
Missing the point. We talking Why dealers misleading people
Dealers shouldn't be using smoke and mirrors and misleading anyways.
Why do folks have a kid and think they have to buy a giant vehicle to cope? Bet he won't consider a minivan.
We had a Chevy Chevette and a '72 Impala station wagon while I was growing up. That was for 3 kids and a country-later-suburban existence. Those two vehicles covered all needs of 3 kids and those country and suburban houses (as an aside - no pickup truck needed because the wagon was hilariously awesome). It blows my mind when people buy a Suburban to handle their 2 elementary school kids. Huh? The Chevette handled 90% of our getting around needs with 3 kids.
I'm moving from my Q50 to a RAV4 Hybrid because I had a kid. It's just better all around.
A friend of mine purchased a Jeep for his daughter. Brand new, with soft-top and the trimmings. She didn't like it.
Off he goes to buy a new truck. He trades in the new jeep (depreciated from $40K down to $32K in one month). Guess what? She doesn't want the new truck.
He sells it to me, but I tell him, I'm not paying what he paid, nor am I paying for his other debt. I got a great deal from him but he still owed over $14K from his previous purchases after he bought her a Civic, which he is also paying for. So the Civic now cost him near $50K because he just kept rolling over the debt. First rule I have: make sure of what you're buying first. second rule, live with it. Rolling over debt just makes everything worse.
I love in Southern OR. It's hard to avoid Lithia around here if you want certain models.
great job guys!
You guys need to do a video featuring a dealer that is HONEST from which YOU WOULD ACTUALLY BUY A CAR!
No such dealership exists 😂
None are honest
Due to my circumstances I pay very low taxes. I take it as affront that a dealer seems to think they know my financial situation.
Tesla site allows to simply change “how it estimates” gas savings. Can input the mpg of your car and electricity cost in your area… is actually surprisingly upfront. I’d buy up a 22 Long range model 3 for $18k in a heart beat. Sell it to me for $21k using the 3rd party sales app and I’d get another $4k off via used ev tax incentive too ($17k is a screaming deal).
On KBB "2023 Bz4x Maintenance Schedules Q&A" says you should: "The most important call is to replace the engine oil and oil filter."
So the IRS state levy my payroll checks. For not paying taxes in 2022. Can I still purchase a car even with the garnishment ?? Please help !!
Or should I wait to pay the full balance. ‼️
In Oregon, dealer doc fees are capped at $150 by law.
Average $599 in S.C.
$1000 in fl
false, Ron Tokin Kia in Portland quoted a Seltos for my wife (have the printout and everything) has a $200 doc fee, unless there's a violation there.
@@official_commanderhale965 That dealer is in violation of state law. State law caps the doc fee at $150.
Looking at used used EV cars is a minefield of sellers who either include the $4k tax rebate, don’t, or even worse are the ones ignorant about it and don’t want to deal with it. Hard to price shop when the advertised prices don’t mean anything. One outfit here in Portland tries to tack on a Corporate Activity Tax, which is a them tax, not a me tax. Until there is a bounty program for turning int these schmucks it will be as it always has. The promise of honest up front pricing is why a lot of folks will pay extra to go to the Carmax’s and Carvana’s of the world, as people are often more worried about getting scammed than overpaying a little.
Funny!! I live in Klamath Falls and am familiar with Lithia Toyota dealership. They definitely are a dealership that tries to get as much money out of potential customers! A lot of us take our business to Medford or Bend, Oregon due to the fact their new and used big dealerships vehicles are priced for a lot less and the salespeople are better to work with.
heres my questions for you guys (and any in the comments who have had the experience).
if i go in with my OTD price do i really care what they put on the price-breakdown lines? i feel like i can say "hey, heres my OTD price and I don't care what you do with the numbers, make em up, fudge em, add whatever you want.....you just better make my OTD price (this)" and if they give me my price all is well.
i don't want to sit down and examen the price sheet if the only thing i care about is the OTD price and they hit it.
I'm pretty sure that 'lifetime oils' is a credit.
They're trying to say you'll save 1000 bucks on oil changes. Building 'savings' into a stated price is often still illegal, mind you.
I’m with ya Ray , in OUR OPINION! ! !
@CarEdge. will you ever do a video about dealer holdback?
I have a 2021 nissan titan platinum reserve with 28k miles. I just paid my last payment for the lease, and the residual is 35k. With taxes to buy it out I will be at 37k out the door on 7% high interest. Which would be better? return it or finance since new leases are extremely high now. Thank you
I went and test drove GX550. They charge 15k over MSRP So crazy.
How would you guys handle negociating in Toyota Dealership with the new electronic system they use?
I'll continue to drive my 1993 Volvo 240. It has no book value. It costs pennies to insure. It has 560,300 miles and it's hardly broken in. It's heavy, solid, and safe as a tank. No plastic or fiberglass here.
@caredge. Question, why does every single lease advertisement include cash down (approx $4,000) in order to get the number when you always harp on no money down on leases?
Yeah I fell for that when I was looking at model 3 performance.😂
But, with Federal credit, Washington State incentive, and no sales tax in Washington State.
The 53,000 dollar model 3 performance went all the way down to 40,000 dollars+destination fee+processing fee. 😊 It's mine in August 2024. 😊
Ummmm, there’s sales tax in Washington State… what are you talking about?
@@aarongettys5146
No sales tax for EV.
In oregon the doc fee is capped at 150, how are they charging 250?
Model Y as in Y would you buy it?
wait till shoppers realize the cash price is not available to the cash buyer - you must finance the cash price which results in you spending more than that amount as cash to get the title from the new owner- the bank
Hey Carredge, every car I've purchased, the "sales person" always told me what loan company and interest rate I have to pay. However, your videos always talk about negotiating these things with the "finance manager". Or do I only i only discuss OTD pricing with salesperson AND then tell them ill discuss loans and rates with the finance mngr?
For the military guy - I'm with you - keep the Tesla (live and learn) and for much less than $16K, get an older crossover or wagon that's solid, insurance included. It won't be pretty, but it'll start every morning, fulfill your need for more room, and if you choose right, it will just keep running and running with basic maintenance. And you'll have something tangible, of actual value, for your 2nd loan instead of another monthly payment for nothing.
Ray needs his own segment called 'Frosty Cookies'. Also it appears Tesla sales executives came from your local Ford dealer.
Looking at a CPO 2022 Lexus NX350h with 11k miles. MSRP was little over $47k new and they want $43.8k.
Unfortunately it was smoked in. They would only give me a $400 discount even after me asking. Good deal?
No. Bad deal.
I'm with Ray. Default toggle should be selling price and a toggle for potential savings. Stop mislead people!!!
We need a cheat sheet to keep up with all of the unscrupulous and unethical practices of some dealerships. A list of do’s and don’ts. A beware of the following list. In PDF.
This I need some kind of paper or note I can rely on.
dealers lke this should be fined 10 x the amount they are charging for bogus fees, not only from the state but the manufacturers, for fraud to customers. and the customer that this dealer is trying to fraudulently fees, and price the dealer should have to give that car to the customer for free of the customer or should be receiving the price of they are fraud to the he customer that amount back. this is where the manufactures need to step in and take the francizes back and that owner of the francizes lose this dealers ship
they aren't saying what the net 'fuel' cost is, its just the gas savings and not counting any electric. very disappointing
Klamath falls Toyota. Lmao I used to work at this dealership. Key words “used to”
8:04 or don’t take loans out for cars… pay cash.
The real question about EVs is how many manufacturers will the EV craze bring down when the dust settles. I read an article this morning showing how much Ford lost on every EV it sold. (over $100k per vehicle) What a bargain! No one should be surprised that manufacturers are dishonest in their advertising since they tolerate it by their dealers. If they believed in honesty they would clean up the dealer crap that goes on. I believe the term to describe them is "Birds of a feather." PS: Contrary to mistaken beliefs, Florida actually has waterfalls. There are several nice ones, including in a couple of state parks. Most are in North Florida, particularly over in the Panhandle.
When EVs can go 500, 700 and 1000 miles on 1 charge then I'll get one.....maybe 😆
@@PsiPhir That is certainly one issue and one that might be resolved in a few years with solid state batteries. To me, the big thing with lithium based batteries like they use today is the fire hazard. I don't think a lot of people realize just how dangerous large lithium based batteries can be.
scammer repoted.
I bought a 20 model LR for 33k in August of last year and Tesla 9 months later offered me 22,500 for it lol
Electricity cost and availability to recharge is never discussed on EV’s.
Exactly. It's a huge value loss when you consider that you can't drive an electric car long distance at your own pace. You're always limited by recharge times and EV stations. Absolutely negates the "6k gas savings".
at least EVs can go more than 350 miles on 1 charge....o wait they cannot! 😆
I mean you know whether or not you have a home charger.
And what it takes to make a battery and how the electricity is made. Carbon neutral is a horrible dream. Idiots
@@rangerryda8218 6K "savings" because of the limited travel area and the directly related 'range anxiety'
lithia is in oregon. sadly the schools did not teach mathh soo goud
Are there any good dealers? None in my area of SoCal.
I disagree with the rant about manufacturers being as bad as dealers. I've purchased about a dozen or so vehicles in my life. We purchased a model 3 end of last year. It was the absolute easiest and most upfront vehicle purchase I've ever made. Actually purchased in the tesla app after a test drive. We went to a couple Toyota dealerships the week before to maybe trade our 2020 highlander in. They were all terrible with BS add-ons and high pressure sales tactics. This coming from someone who has purchased 5 new Toyota's in the past. I also had terrible experience with a few chevy dealerships while trying to purchase my 2024 2500. Most dealerships are just trying to screw over their customers with dishonest sales tactics. You guys literally have a business based on explaining how to not get screwed over by dealerships. That sorta speaks volumes about dealerships
$750 sounds like the lease extended warranty - it could be construed as excessive wear.
Reading some of these comments make you realize who the target audience is for these dishonest ads.
Some parts use mineral oil.
The way I see 42k for a tesla is I'll keep my $$ because that'll buy a lot fuel for my 14 year old chevy Silverado 4x4😉
Last night I saw a tesla cybertruck pulling a trailer and it made me laugh.
My cookies are so gosh darn frosted!!!!
This Frosts my cookies too😂
Tesla logic - my car depreciated by $15,000 last year, but hey, I saved $1,500 on gas and $200 on oil changes.
And...? I fail to see the connection. Tesla is talking the cost, and you are talking about the worth. They are not the same.
@@superturtle61177 Depreciation is part of overall ownership cost. EV depreciated quite a lot post pendemic, as fast as a maserati.
@@superturtle61177 Context clues, my guy, the OP is obviously talking about the "tesla owner logic".
They have always done this and tesla fans compare the tesla price after all discounts VS other EVs without. Unfortunately it works for them
Will it back fire with a Tesla on the thumbnail is both right and wrong at the same time....
Why make it so complicated. You look at the last line to see what you are have agreed to pay for the car. If the quoted price on the bill is higher than agreed then just dont sign the sales contract.
The value of these sweet cars is not measured by dollars. Its measured in virtue and the smell of their owners own gas. I hear the sound quality and acoustics coupled with the plastic luxury seats really makes the acoustic levels just as choice as the air you have been waiting 30 minutes to inhale. After that vegan meal you enjoyed from that one very upscale restaurant.
Aren't they deducting the 999.00?
Gloves are OFF
getting upset over a toggle switch, seems a little off putting.
If no one wants to buy something the 'value' is zero.
NOT surprised it's a Toyota dealership. What is really dumb is the person who bought the EV didn't catch that? Or did they?

Anyone upside down should keep it and ride it out and be smarter next time.
4:40 Ray mad because Tesla has proved the dealership mafia model is outdated.
"Frost in his cookie" just doesn't sound good.........
Stealerships am I right?
Manufacturers are no better than the dealers. Carvana is a prime example of that. They claim you save thousands are on their cars cutting out the dealer but their car prices are at or above the price of the dealer cars. They aren't taking away a single penny on any kind of saving on any of their cars. It's a false statement and they should be sued for it.

People really don’t understand the downside of financing too long. They roll old loans into new loans like the bubble isn’t ever going to burst.
You guys ever heard of a Vitu fee???
I really hope the straight to manufacturer thing dies down. Dealers employ tons of people and make tons of money for communities. If you just give that money to the manufacturers and shareholders, a lot of people will lose jobs, prices will go up, and service will go down.
