its a little disappointing as a former console player I switched to pc for better experience and i feel bad for my friends who are stuck on console and cant enjoy the full potential of this game that us pc players have access to
the post crea-ture made about stats on the session playerbase said 90% of players were on console, i imagine the numbers aren't that different for skater xl. just goes to show how much of the audience they're alienating for their "vision" lol
Yeah they are really alienating players but giving away the dlc for free and they aren't putting community made maps on the console because they would have to pay the creators of the maps and easy day didn't make a fortune like everyone thinks they did, the game was 25 bucks and the maps are free. What else do you want from easy day? Do you think you've earned an easy day hand job Ffs. And while you all cry about what you didn't get for free from easy day, you are all still playing the game. Be grateful for what you have
@@aaronmiller7954 they're alienating players by consistently refusing to consider the most requested feature by a long shot. also, i've played xl once in the last two years lol i switched to session.
Man trust me as a PC gamer who plays Session over XL, Session is still a much better game than XL even when you mod XL, it never really feels quite as good.
Really hard to get excited about something like this. As the years go by, while I love XL's control scheme and modded physics, I feel like the community has just been mistreated as an afterthought by EasyDay. Community morale is low and THAT is what keeps me coming back to games. Right now I'm just using Session as a Skate 4 waiting room.
people wouldn't be so fucking pissed about this if easy day had actual communication with the community and were working on improving and expanding the core gameplay. they also lost a LOT of goodwill with the community when they refused to add a statsmenu and banned dawgvinci that they won't ever get back unless they completely change their approach to development.
My deciding factor between Session and XL was getting on and off the board, didn't even consider the street maps. After 60hrs in Session I couldn't imagine being locked on anything other than street maps, big oof
I believe Session & SkaterXL have made enough money to being doing better with these games. Ive personally spent over $200 for both games on different consoles and pc. Exactly like you said, the people want street maps so we can make unique content and promote the game.
I mean its a free map, but I agree they seem to only cater to this contest park theme lately, like the constant tampa pro maps. but It would have been better for a new city map. thank goodness for the mod community.
The fact that they’re still releasing maps and not addressing any of the actual mechanics of the game is insane. Stats menu, better graphics, literally anything to improve gameplay.. but here’s a mid map.
I wanna find something positive to say but man, the current state of skateboarding games is very unfortunate as a whole. The most solid release we've had in years is a THPS remake of all things. SXL and Session are stuck in development purgatory, slapped with the "potential" label. Both had years to build themselves into untouchable giants, and they're gonna let themselves get dusted by EA's f2p thing. Really a damn shame.
sad to hear its not going great for skater xl... i only play session, but competition drives the market and i'd like all of us to have great skating games
I agree with most thing stated. If I had to guess thou, EasyDay probably ran out of money to pay their coders/developers. My guess is they're cobbling what little they can manage with sponsorships to try and get enough to pay to get the 2023 update finished. They COULD push for more community maps but I'm assuming paying people to comb through the maps to remove all branding, finalize lighting, etc. is more than they're steadily making. It's not like anyone is willing to buy the game after this whole "abandoning" situation. So I'm sure their income has basically stalled out.
That would also explain why the current map releases aren't backwards compatible. If they're contracting the maps out it would add the cost of making 4 different versions (5 if you count Nintendo switch) of the exact same map. I have as much info as anyone else but it would make sense why they're basically dug their heads into the sand. If partnering companies knew how broke they were (as a studio) they wouldn't pay for sponsorships and the game truly would entirely run out of income. Cuz we all know the paid clothing DLC they tried absolutely flopped. Modders converted it for XLGM within 48 hours and the community loudly complained. I honestly can't see anyway for the studio to have consistent income to keep paying their coders/developers. I think Session learned that lesson early on where EDS got scared. Again, this is just my speculation.
@@doftpunk101 all proceeds from that DLC went to charity though. but even if you get your hands on the baggy pants without the DLC, it's not gonna show up in replay editor. ALSO the custom made meshes that modders make are better even.
Honestly Easy Day should either just give us a stats menu, or shut the whole gaming studio down. Cause at this point it seems like they're heading that direction. All of the original developers of the game have left and I believe thats why Easy Day has lost all of its passion for SXL. Its very sad. The game literally had the potential do be the best skateboarding game out there and they really boofed up.
I could be wrong but aren't all the original creators of skater xl not working for easy day anymore? If that is the case, then I'm sure that's where the project lost its passion.
I've got both versions running on my machine, mainly because the updated version has the better transition skating, but yeah.. mod support for that version fell off entirely. Dawg did enough to get the game playable at least, but it's not a great experience overall
After just over 4 years of playing this game, and taking, at the most, 1 month breaks, I am burned out. I'm tired of waiting for the update, and tired of waiting for communication from them, whether it be to the community or a friendly email I sent them. It just sucks because I want the devs to understand so badly that this game rekindled my interest for skateboarding. This game got me to watch skate videos on RUclips, something I hadn't done at all throughout RUclips's existence. I'm ready for a long period of not playing this game, because it just depresses me now.
Your definitely not wrong man your just stating facts thank god for the modding community or else skater would be shit !!! So shout out to everyone who puts in the time to make the game what it is today
Even though I prefer skatepark maps... this doesn't even work for me because who in their right minds plays public branch on pc? map doesn't work for alpha apparently because of object dropper objects in the map
Yeah not worth it to go through all that to play this map on the right version…. When you’ll be able to just shred it on True Skate anyways 😈. And it won’t be scaled up
I think the tampa is dope. It's pretty accurate to the tampa pro am competition park for this year, so i don't know what everyone expected or why they are so disappointed. For one, this whole game was revolutionary as far as skate games, it's the best skate sim ever, it was super cheap, maps are free. Easy day is a small studio. They aren't trying to slap players in the face. They aren't going for a money grab. If they were, they would charge for all the dlc like literally every other game i think everyone should stop bitching and crying like little cucks and enjoy the game and be glad you're not playing an ea akate game and effortlessly grinding a thousand feet. I'm sure easy day does have ad contracts . Those companies that sponsored some maps, probably already put their money up during the original development of the game so easy day was obligated to put their logos in some parks . Def not a money grab. And they def made this game for the players and not just for themselves.
They don’t need to charge for maps because every map is part of a deal with a company, never mind the fact nobody would pay for these maps because the players have been actively asking for street maps and less low effort skatepark/course maps. Easy Day has not provided any of the promised updates for this game, have gone against players wishes and requests for content that would only benefit the game because it goes against their “vision” for the game. Feel free to enjoy the game but to defend a studio that has openly ignored their games player base, stopped updating their game and only provide contractually obliged low effort skatepark/course maps because it lines their pockets is just downright ignorant.
This game would be completely dead if it wasn’t for mods this game sucks on console horribly bad mods is the only thing that’s keeping this game alive easy day needs to wake up before they lose all of their business for this game
They dont need to update the game anymore the modding community took it too far pcs are the future anyways idk anyone who plays console anymore lmao its worth it to save up for one
So pigeon doesn't like Easy day lol got it That map you're skating though does look really nice. I only stopped playing cause i spent days making clothes and had to report everything when they update everytime. gave up >_
So... what you guy's thinking about all of this?
There's nothing to think about. Same old easy day bs
its a little disappointing as a former console player I switched to pc for better experience and i feel bad for my friends who are stuck on console and cant enjoy the full potential of this game that us pc players have access to
its their loss
Playing XL? its better to go walk the dog or buy some eggs xD
Serious question - are Easy Day masochist’s? It feels like they almost enjoy the hate for some reason.
xl held their own funeral at the last tampa map release
We aren't even realising how dead would Skater XL be without modding community💀
We are though. :P
Very much like DayZ 😂
It's dead regardless, mods or not. It's pathetic.
