    Great video - you say keeping the tank at 75 degrees - yet also mention an outdoor pond. Will these little guys cope with a british winter or would you have to protect them from the coldest temperatures?

    • @AquaViva1
      @AquaViva1  Год назад

      Yeah they have overwintered twice in my outdoor pond! Very strong little guys :)

    • @GG-mu4wg
      @GG-mu4wg 4 месяца назад

      Just a heads up that keeping ricefish outdoors has been banned in the UK, the concern being that they survive the winter and could become an invasive species if carried by birds.

    • @miniscenesgb

      @@GG-mu4wg yes :) I was asking re temperatures, not being exposed to birds and such. was thinking outside in my conservatory :)

    Hi, I just found your channel, I really enjoy your videos. Can you have too many snails? Also, what do the shrimp bring to the party? Do they contribute to the ecosystem?

    • @Scouse.raver1
      @Scouse.raver1 Год назад +1

      Hi I think u can have to many snails most people will keep them in check when there numbers grow, shrimp will eat any uneaten food help keep the tank cleaner, and sometimes some shrimp will even clean fish eggs but not eat the eggs so can help ur success rate a little, yes they do they help keep the whole tank clean for you eating leftovers and biofilm\ algae off the serfaces in the tank

    • @justinl6074
      @justinl6074 Год назад

      I have snails and a ton of shrimp in my rice fish tank. It’s the cleanest tank I have with little to no visible algae. Granted it is planted. The snails will be a good indicator if you’re feeding too much since they eat left overs/algae.

    Hi, new sub from Australia. I’m thinking of making a little rice fish pot pond on my back deck. Being in Australia, our temp can get pretty hot in summer. Where I am, up to about 40 deg Celsius. Will that be too hot for them? Great channel BTW❤️🇦🇺

    • @AquaViva1
      @AquaViva1  2 года назад +1

      That should be fine, if you’re worried about the temperature on a really hot day maybe move it to the shade but these fish really love sunshine and heat
