Im generally a spyderco over benchmade guy, but i gotta say man i picked up a super freek after watching your vids and i MUCH prefer it to the pm2, it fits my hand like it was made for me. Fyi..for anyone interested in a super freek gpknives has them for $150, i grabbed mine from there and it came perfect. For the most part i usually dont even consider benchmades, im glad i didnt miss out on this one...i appreciate the content bro!

This was a great comparison and I agree with the consensus. I own a para 3 and I just bought a mini freak, but I gotta say, I like the IDEA of the compression lock more. The simplicity behind the idea is elegant. They both work well, but for me, that feeling really adds to the value of a compression lock Spyderco.

I really like both companies. I have 3 or 4 Benchmades now that being said I bought a para 3 maxamet 4-5 weeks ago my first spyderco, and I now have 8 Spydercos 5 weeks later. Spydercos are awesome knives covering a wide range. Benchmades have been nothing but great for me too though. I have the CF s90v bugout. Full size Adamas and the superfreek, I have the Ritter Hogue, so I have 3 Benchmades. They all are good quality. My opinion is these days anyway if you buy mostly any Spyder co or any Benchmade you are going to get a good knife. I have 2 para 2s S30v and 20cv and the superfreek. I am having a hard time deciding which one id have to choose between the 2.

I have both ( my PM2 had S45V though) and I think it depends on what you want to do with the knife. PM2 is an EDC knife, lower profile, nice blade shape. The Freek can be used in bushcraft scenario ( even batoning), an is more robust.

Have them both great knives can’t go wrong with either I carry the para 2 more but I don’t really have a good reason besides the fact that I carried the Benchmade doug Ritter in s30v which is very similar to the freek in design for over 5 yrs and wanted something different than I was used to. My only issue is that the para 2’s handle which is very comfortable and grippy is a little rough/ aggressive in the pocket and can do some damage to your pockets.

I finally ordered the super freek. I’ve been getting back into Benchmade again. I’ve been disappointed with fit and finish, hit or miss quality out of the box. I quit Benchmade for a few years, but I’m slowly picking them up again. That being said, I don’t like spyderco, including the pm2, of which I have two. To me, they are a little overrated, nothing but a lot of grip area, with little cutting surface. Their customer service really put me off, as well, unlike Benchmade, which has been great. On the other hand, it is super sharp. I love the ergos and especially the jimping at the choil. I dig that. So, maybe I got a lemon with the lock stick, but after doing some searching on line, it seems that others have reported the same. There is one major upside to the pivot being tightened. Up here in canada, we are not allowed to own autos, assisted,or a knife that opens with gravity alone. At the border they basically have free rein to seize it, and you have no recourse. If the action is butter out of the box, they can interpret that as assisted. By tightening the pivot, the knife is can't be "mistaken" for an assisted knife, by a border guard who has no idea.

If I loose/break my super freek, I just go get another as it's a production knife. Just food for thought. And trust me, I've had a ton of shitty benchmades with bad lock rock or centering.

No go on PM2 with factory scales. Ugly and uncomfortable.

For durability, the Greek will smoke the para 2 , that a no brainer… the pro with Spyderco s is their weak tip. They are slicey as hell but have a fragile tip. Just look what the DBK boys did with the freek, the para 2 would of been broken or severely damaged. I think the pm 2 in Magnacut is the ultimate , if it were available!
