Absolutely brilliant breakdown between the two. So much clarity from this 12minutes video than all the medium articles that are littered out there. Thank you as always Mizko!
Loved this video man. I’m both a UX Designer and a freelance web designer and you hit on a lot of the differences. I’ll be honest, the real difference is the drive to run your own business as a web designer vs the teamwork and coziness of working in house with Product design. The roof is much higher with web design if you want to be en entrepreneur. Just higher risk but you can also argue that product design is growing and the value is apparent to more and more businesses so it’s becoming more strategic and less pixel pushing
I believe both type of designers still have their values especially in the new web3 space. Web3 companies still need web designers for their web presence and even more opportunities for product designers as the web3 concept is fairly new and complex to the world.
I've been thinking the difference between product designers and web designers. Static vs. interaction is the big difference. I'd like to learn both of them as a junior designer to see what I like the most and have more opportunities. Thank you.
Still a student looking for directions for my UX/UI Design Career. And this video helped a lot because now I know that I am more into web design, agencies and freelancing. Currently an Apprentice Product Designer for a neo bank but hope to get a 2 year apprenticeship contract next year in an agency for my Master's Degree in Digital Art Direction. 🙏🏾 Hoping from you to have some videos covering up specific tips for webdesign.
I’d like to think that websites/web design lean a bit more into marketing, while web apps/product design is all about the business itself. (This take is an oversimplification, of course 😅)
Great video! I’ve been trying to find my strengths as a designer. I’ve shadowed product design meetings and there are a lot of big picture considerations and use cases I’m amazed that the designers need to think of. I think I excel better at the artistic parts of graphic/visual design, and applying branding to the UI, but still want to enjoy UX related challenges that come with good info architecture and navigation I’ve definitely been thinking more about static web designs or design for marketing
Yep! If you sit in more senior product design meetings and workshops, you'd be surprised by all the business strategies they also need to consider as well. Each to their own. Both paths have a bright future. It's difficult to say which one will stay relevant for longer. My gut feeling is the product designer, however no one will ever know. Just continue doing what you love doing and all else will follow!
The video helped me clearly understand the differences between the two roles. So now I know which path I wanna follow. Many thanks Mizko. I want and believe that we need a new era of Designer for the Web 3.0. New variety of skillset and competencies. Can't wait to see that video.🤭
In my opinion, web 3.0 need a product designer who has business acumen. Also basic front-end technologies will be an added advantage over and above product design skills
Really nice video (they are all great) but I can tell you put a lot of thought and research into this! *thumbs up* indeed. Small Tip: Maybe you could put a darker background overlay into effect when you have white text displayed? It was just a little bit hard to read at times because of the sunlight, but still an awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it! A lot has been based on my experience so it was fun to reflect on the two paths. Thank you for the feedback. I was meant to add an overlay but I totally forgot to add the final polish :) I'll be sure to add the final polish for upcoming videos!
Love your vid 3.0 i would think it would be a product designer due to complexity and skill set needs to be broader. Can’t wait to see your vid on 3.0, how will our jobs transition into 3.0. So interesting!
I’m a Web3 designer and we think in very decentralized design patterns. Our products eliminate the middleman. So for instance we almost never would use Google or Facebook login for example.
Definitely both. Since whole organizations getting decentralized like DAOs, things like co-working, having a shared design system, task based work is much more valuable and brings up some problems that need to be solved. Web3 is a new, innovative and fast moving field with big potential and a lot of experimentation, but if the groundwork is laid, it will be the future of work on the internet.
Thanks Chris! Glad you noticed :) Means a lot. The last few weeks have been really busy. Finalising the new course and moving into the new studio has been taking up a lot of my time. I will be back soon!
I have a question it doesn't relate to this particular video but here's the question you can make a text box responsive so it will shrink or grow with the width of the browser but how do you keep it from getting to why you wouldn't want your text to be 1400 pixels wide? Thanks

Thank you Benjamin! Really appreciate it.

Hey Justin, how much importance would you say UX has for Web design?
A really really great video Mizko!!
You covered all aspects and made it simple to understand using easy to follow examples!
Perfect, it’s easy to understand what’s different between Websites and web app through your video. Thanks
Thank you!

I like the over simplication. It works :)
Thanks for clearing this up!
To answer your question, i think a Product Designer is needed for 3.0
Interesting :)

Love the positivity! Pumped to create a video on this :)
When are we getting the web3 video @mizko :)
Hello Mizko, we haven't seen you for a while
Thanks Chris! Glad you noticed :) Means a lot.
The last few weeks have been really busy. Finalising the new course and moving into the new studio has been taking up a lot of my time. I will be back soon!
Like everyone else on the comments, I believe Product Designer will be needed more for Web 3.0
Interesting!
Can I do both?
Can you make Principle Tutorials ?

a Designer for web 3.0 will require web design, product design, visual coding and 3D skills.
Interesting!
can you please do a video about web3?
How about Creative Director Vs Art Director Vs Sr. Designer?
damn... that's a good explanation.
Loving the constantly improving quality and value of your videos Mizko!
Thanks Prip! Means a lot :)
Ohhhhhhhhhhh yeahh I get it now Thamks bro
I’m glad it helped John!
You my crush ❤️
Aw!
Blockchain is just a database, there is no web 3.0.
VR AR web is decades away... If ever, because no one needs it.
Product Designer!
