    This video made something click for me, that back end developers work on code for the server, and front end developers work on code for the browsers of the end users. I did an internship at a website company mostly doing marketing and there was both front end and back end devs and I never understood that whole server/browser distinction before. The way I imagined it was the back end dev was working in the basement of the website doing all the secret mysterious underneath the bonnet work 😂

    When I want to develop a prototype (MVP) of a website app (let's say, for example, a website where people can buy a product or service), what do I need first: a UX designer or a frontend developer? What type of person do I need to hire first? Thanks for your advice.

    So, in this context, does the word "fullstack" mean the ability to be both front- & back-end OR them two + web design as well?

    • @r3n736
      @r3n736 4 года назад +5

      No, Full Stack is Software Developer they program the backend logic and deal with databases and servers. They do add some basic front end but most Full stack developers are awful at design and average at the front end. Or you got the Node.js Developer who is a person with strong front end skill and average or mediocre back end skills. Basically this is a front end that learned back end later In their career.
      Web design basically use tools like figma or sketch to create a mockup and then use HTML and css. Most web designers have mediocre or have no idea how to work with Javascript or programming.

    Is there a difference between a web developer and a full stack developer??

    Thank you Stef. Really enjoy watching your videos. Recently, most tutorials about fullstack development I see build an API backend usually with Node js with SPA frontend. What are the pros and cons of doing it this way as compared to the conventional way e.g how PHP mixes with HTML, and when is it advisable to do it one way over the other.
    Thank you once again Stef 😊.

      focus on either front end or back end. Don't try to do both or you will feel very lost. Focus on one aspect for at least 1-2 years then start learning the other side.
      Node.js is popular because courses sell well, it doesn't mean it's the dominant player in real world. PHP is not Node.js even through Front end is huge since no matter the backend language you sooner going to use a Javascript framework like react or vie. The pro of Node.js is that once you learn front end well it doesn't take much effort to learn node.js even through PHP with laravel, in my opinion, is easier and code looks more organized.

      @@r3n736 thank you very much for your reply. I have actually been doing front end development for 2+ years now and want to learn backend development so I can become fullstack. I was just wondering when it's better to build an API backend rather than using like an MVC approach.
      Thank you one again.

      @@oluwatobifalola387 Do project with both MVC and API and you will know that answer. With API is usually harder yet since you know front end you would not have many problems. Usually API better for big projects. MVC better for Back end developers that don't dominate front end well yet.

    @Mr.Mischook: If someone is interested in working in the computer field. They like designing and creating things. But they are not really interested in code, except for maybe the basics of Html. And they don't like troubleshooting. So little to no, code and troubleshooting. And more designing, creativity, etc related.
    What job position in the computer field would you suggest?

    • @r3n736

      Custom logic and features that wocommerce or Shopify may not have. As well Performance since you only use code you need for your project. Another added benefit is security. Wordpress have serious issues with security and still have. I would never ever put an e-commerce shop in wocommerce.

    • @gracan.4193
      @gracan.4193 4 года назад +1

      This choice depends on the budget and complexity of the project. If your client does not have lots of money and his project is quite simple you could offer him Shopify, in my country I offer similar alternative. I never offer a custom project, not even a Woocommerce project for people that are so stingy that they do not understand the necessity to pay for later maintenance.

    Hi, I purchased your Complete Web Developer course. It says there that it’s the “fundamentals”.
    Does that course gives enough knowledge to start working once completed or that’s just the basics and I’ll need to study some type of Web Developer level II after that?
    Thank you 👍🏽

    • @r3n736
      @r3n736 4 года назад +1

      The course is just an introduction there is a LOT to learn by a lot I mean thousands of hours, probably going to take you a year or 2, especially if you never coded in your life expect 3+ years. Especially with the current situation where we may fall into an economic depression. Studying not enough you have to create projects and they will take you a LONG time to complete when you are a beginner like 4-6 months per project.

      R3N I’m used to sit in front of the computer, that’s not a problem.
      Our first computer was a CP 300 (or400, can’t remember) when I was like 6 years old.
      Windows didn’t even exist, the operational system was MS-DOS.
      We didn’t even have a monitor, the CPU was connected to a black and white tv.
      So I grew up following the very beginning of home computers, but I stepped away from the industry for years and missed out on a loooot of the new technologies that it was invented.
      So just now I’m slowly stepping back into the game.
