Thank god! A tutorial which actually shows you how to do it without trying to sell books, patterns, products women 100 years ago certainly didnt have, just a tutorial done by hand. Not on a £600 sewing machine. So thanks!
I'm just starting my first quilt with appliqué and was struggling with stitching points. I found your videos and am so pleased with them. They are so clear and precise with very good close up shots, I will be watching more of them. I'm in the UK and just starting our 2nd pandemic lock down and it was very comforting to listen to your tone, almost like having a friend sewing here with me
Hello Jan, just found you recently. I feel that ì am right there with you. You are so relaxed and easy to listen to. I am here in åustralian am 82 years old. I mostly quilt but love needleturn applique. You probably know of the thimble lady here in åustralia. I look forward to seeing more of your work and have subscribed.
Jan, I love watching your tutorials I sew and have dabbled in machine applique, but never needle turn. You always make it look doable! Love your designs!
And I forgot to say that I learned this technique at a workshop years ago taught by a lady called JoAnn Diggs who did beautiful applique. We all thank you JoAnn.
Thanks for the tips on making points. Trying to figure out how to applique some star pieces I inherited from my grandma and aunt. I have had the stars stored in a box for a long time. Now that I am retired I might be able to do something with them. The stars have a circle (sun with petals) in the middle. Don't know what the pattern is called. Grandma and my aunt Maggie put a lot of work into piecing the stars together. It would be a shame to let their work go to waste.
Great explanation-thanks so much-but it was really difficult to follow visually since the camera kept zooming out and back in so many times. Sure wish it could’ve stayed put over your hands. :)
I love Jan Patek.
So do I. She is the best.
Jan, your videos on applique are the BEST.
