I really hope they get this right, in my opinion, this could lead to some interesting survival gameplay. For example, you ship is in a bad shape, so you gotta land and survive until your Buddy comes around and pics you up
They are. The team that designs the world is not the same team that works on net code, or game logic, or world generation, or ship animations, or interactions. All different people. You wouldn't get a world designer to fix server bugs. Game dev happens in parallel, it's not just one team working on 1 thing at 1 time.
Naïve. Not even UE5 with a massive amount of optimization and using Nanite on top could handle the dynamic LOD changes that SC would require with a jungle world, and their jury-rigged starengine most definitely can‘t. And if a full planet open world like that does happen within the next decade, it won‘t be in SC. Don‘t get me wrong, i‘d love to see it too, but nu-uh not a chance.
Lord almighty this game will likely be the greatest in our era in terms of detail and world emersion, setting the standard and likely building the foundations for meshing in the future, I’m so sick of starfields loading screens
My guess for cockpit vibration during transit wouldn't be that it varies by start, middle, end but, rather, it would vibrate more the closer you get to the tunnel wall. It would provide visual feedback while you're flying: if you're centered in the tunnel, little/no vibration. The closer you get to a wall, the more vibration there is.
what about weather and geologic activity snow lightning rain in various forms such as molten metal rain acid rain liquid gas rain etc. we need danger from the environments instead of these placid sterile worlds they are immersion breaking the planets feel dead what they got is a good start but they should start adding more interesting planets the planets need to be bigger as well for realistic mountain ranges and majestic canyons for every explored star system they release they should release a unexplored one as well this should help fill out the game more by cutting out all the time spent building and placing landing zones and space stations which could be added later if need be and give people something to explore

If you land on microtech the ground actually looks pretty ugly. Terrain glitches in and out, over laps, layers of rocks hover on hills, the fallen trees looks like a lump of shit, the ground is really pixelated. I hope planet tech v5 will solve this shit
11:07 That is not how radar works. That is not how hiding from radar works. That would work for detecting EM or IR signatures but you cannot hide from radar by turning something off. New planes like F-35 have sensor fusion so weather IR, Radar, or RWR, the target is tracked. So if target turns off their own radar, the RWR signal would be lost but active radar ping and IR would still possibly be tracking the target. I have no idea how targets are found and locked in our current system in SC but at no point should any object ever be able to hide from active radar out in empty space.
Real Life can balance games nicely - Silenced guns don't really have a sufficient penalty I'd say - so imagine if they made silencers overheat guns faster. It's not a 1:1 match to reality, but silencer cans do heat up extremely fast. Have them glow a little, even, so going crazy with it would visually reveal you to players with eagle-eye vision at the very least. It'd be interesting if there was also a slight fire-rate penalty, and then reduce the damage penalty to make up for these.
But none of that happens in real life with suppressed weapons. I have an AR15 with a can on it sitting next to me right now, it has zero velocity penalty on the rifle and isn’t “silent” when fired because physics. All it does is slow the gases leaving the barrel (like a car muffler). There is literally no “balance” feature there. Only downside to a suppressor is added length/weight to the rifle.
I read all the comments and its good to see excitement for these jungles - but what about the ships we bought and dont have? what about pyro? This will never get done while everyones lappin up jungles - good work
When CIG releases SQ42 and rakes in atleast the same amount they have done the last 12 years, we will definitly see a ramp up of Starcitizen, and hopefully several mods like survival planet, maybe a hack n slash game etc. Skyes the limit when they finally release SQ42 where money will be a none issue for the next 5 years.
I've been hearing news that new cdrom tech will hold a petabyte of information. Will Star Citizen use this tech to help with bandwidth and loading times?
Theyre talking all about 4.0, where last year it was basically a mystery. Citizencon is gonna be all completely new 4.1-4.x leading up to 1.0 is my guess. I doubt we'll hear much about what's for 1.0

They are taking the piss with this game now, the amount of money and time they have had is ridiculous, the constant work on new ships to rake in more money seems to be the priority while drip feeding work into the actual game.
I wonder what CIG will completely ruin next! First combat with Master modes by unrealistically handicapping ship performance, a mistake they forbid anyone from talking about, and now cargo is also completely ruined by making the process so tedious and reducing the functionality of large cargo ships. Who wants to spend several hours loading and unloading 600 scu worth of cargo. They had something playable and enjoyable, now it's just playable. What a shame. 😢😢😢
I really don't have an issue with MM. It works fine enough, decently balanced and makes you choose between running or fighting 🤷♂️ and the manual loading was ALWAYS coming. It's really not that bad, especially with friends. But I've also had no issue with wasting time and dragging stuff to ships to sell and doing dumb stuff lol
I like master modes, I do more combat now since there is so much less jousting and more close in fighting. Auto loading for cargo is in the plans and was just talked about during the last SCL.
