I did this on my 2006. It worked. Except then my LED fog lights were half as bright when my (single bulb) LED headlights went front low to high beams???? Anyone know how to do this while keeping the fogs full powered? Or did I do something wrong?
Important question: Do I re-install the relay over top of the jumper wire? What were you talking about when you said you would add (???) when you got home....
You do not reinstall the relay. Just use the jumper wire. I'm not sure exactly which moment you're talking about in my video, I'm assuming I was going to add blade connectors to the ends jumper wire instead of just leaving the ends loose in the replay socket.
Oh ok, got it!!! Thanks a bunch for this I am doing it tomorrow!! I h always hated how the fogs cut out w high beams!!! Gotta be a Chrysler decision lol!
With my 99 D when I turn on the fog lights the high beams automatically come on and when I hit the high beam switch the high beams stay on and the fog lights turn off?? Might be because I run LEDs and the fog lights probably send a small amount of noise on the high beam rail that the led controller senses to switch the highs on but idk 99s are a one year only and have a lot of weird wiring crap.
It's the way the circuit is designed. I plan on modifying my durango to solve this exact problem. I figured out what to do, just haven't put it into practice yet.
@@bigben0777 I figured out that LED fog lights require the "highbeam fog" mod for most dodge vehicles of this time, if you don't do this mod before installing LEDs in the fog lights it kills the multiswitch in the steering column fairly quickly, for some reason due to the way they wired the vehicle it basically activates every switch in the column and headlight switch except for the blinkers but eventually as the multiswitch dies it'll start to activate the blinkers too. I think if you have the parking light option from factory this isn't a issue though because it changes the way the fog light relay is wired, the fog light relay is basically the source of the entire issue.
I do not plan on removing/jumping any relay components. All that needs to be done is the gound for the control side of the relay needs to be relocated. The factory has the ground ran thru the high beam filaments and use the bulb ground. That wire simply needs to be cut and relocated to a chassis ground. Easy fix really, and safer than what was done in this video.
I re-located the ground for the relay. It wasn't hard at all. Now I can freely switch between highs and lows. My fogs stay on as long as the switch is. They go off when the car is shut off. Everything works great.
Thank you for making this video cause the way everyone was telling me to do it was making the fogs stay on even if the vehicle was off
One thing you failed to mention in the video is that the two lugs you're jumpering are different sizes.
This doe work if you follow his directions.
Running with a relay bypassed can cause wires to melt... look up why a relay is used if you don't believe me.

After I put the jumper wire in to modify the fog lights do u reinstall the relay in the fuse block?
nice
Could you put the relay back in to make the jumper wire tight so it doesn't come out of the relay insert?
Just put two male blade connectors on the jumper wire.. I didn't have any with me when I made the video, but I added them later.
Can you post how to do it for the Dakota. I also have an 01
Titan97 warrior yes, here's the link to my other video on how to do it on an 01 Dakota.

@@bigben0777 actually it's not a Chrysler decision, It's a government mandate for all auto manufacturers.

You most likely have a bad Headlight switch....it is very easy to change and not expensive either!

Do u reinstall the relay after u insert the jumper wire?
Nope, you can leave the relay out.
@@darylpalmer3014 Could you reinstall the relay without any problems with the jumper wire?
he ment 86 to 87
Oh no! not the Optima battery..
