I recommend using colored tape and clear heat shrink around the tape/cable to mark the different lengths of cable. That way there won't be that annoying label tab getting in your way every time you try to use the cable flush (for example for lighting and on a mic/snake box/whatever).
good idea on the small bag for ceremonies, I will defenetaly will add that tip to my wedding gigs especially when a wedding coming up. thanks for the tip.
I need a label maker lol. I actually started using small suitcases to carry cables. As it is more effortless and less heavier. Than to be struggling with carrying a bag of cables. But yes. I have them organized in separate small gym bags inside of the suitcase. So that I know to which go where
I organize my cables in a small 19" stage box that I keep under my DJ table. The color coded cables are already plugged into the stage box using a custom rack panel. The cables are neatly tucked into the box. At the gig I just open the stage box, roll out the cables for each speaker and the mixer, then I connect the power and I'm ready to go. When the gig is over, I just unplug the cables and put them back into the stage box - nice and fast. I keep a bag with extra cables in the car for backup.
Barr, I like this Vid because it is such a pet peeve of mine to have organized wired management! Can't stress enough how much time that saves at a function! Great vid and a Label Maker is definitely on my list!!
Fun video, to help with my cables management I use my black velcro straps that I use to wrap and store my cable. I then use them instead of tape around my speaker poles to hide my cables and wires.
Thanks for Sharing. Hosa cables are beast Loved them! And in regards to cable labeling i found out Color coding would tell me faster what cable I want to grab first. I taped a cable color chart to the inside of my cases just in case I have some one helping me they know what to get.
Get some gravity clips and ditch the electrical tape...for my gas shock poles I also use truss hooks on the handles for cable management. But I use the duel power/xlr cables
Do you strictly use dmx cables for dmx use and xlr cables for xlr use? I heard signals can get mixed up but have you ever noticed a major difference when using the wrong cable if you ever have?
Yo, you are crazy organized... I'm getting that label maker asap! Gotta get a cable bag too.... Can't keep carrying every cable I own to every gig hahah ... Keep the dope videos coming Dj Barr !, #BMWTHEDJ
or just get a color code instead of the label or use a more proper cable label. and keep it low profile. when I see those long labels I think of the tassels on a girls handlebars meh
Just an honest recommendation from one video maker to another, the black and white dramatic cuts were kind of excessive and i personally did not enjoy them. If that's your thing it's fine, just something that came to my mind and thought i should share it. Great video regardless.
+Daniel Romeu no worries man, I saw a video when I first started my channel and it said that to keep your viewers engaged it's good to make them fast paced and flashy... 😂 I took that a little too far I guess but, i do think it's given my videos a unique look and feel.

Exactly what I thought
Definitely can't go wrong with Hosa products!
That cable bag is a great piece. I use a four drawer road case for most gigs, but also carry a milk crate for miscellaneous items.
Organization is the key to a near flawless production. Great informative video.
good idea on the small bag for ceremonies, I will defenetaly will add that tip to my wedding gigs especially when a wedding coming up. thanks for the tip.
You should try using Velcro instead of taping the cables to tripods. Don't need to waste tape and worry about the sticky residue 👍🏼

Thx dj barr you helped me so much with the label maker
Just a heads up .. you'll need a boaster for the hdmi cables
Do you strictly use dmx cables for dmx use and xlr cables for xlr use? I heard signals can get mixed up but have you ever noticed a major difference when using the wrong cable if you ever have?

Yeah thats just my thing... lots of jump cuts and black and white cut scenes - all my vlogs are like that. Guess its not for everyone 😅
Bayardo A Rugama it's fine, just not what I'm used to seeing but if that's what works for you them go for it!
+Daniel Romeu no worries man, I saw a video when I first started my channel and it said that to keep your viewers engaged it's good to make them fast paced and flashy... 😂 I took that a little too far I guess but, i do think it's given my videos a unique look and feel.
