Not sure if it's just the writing but has anyone else noticed Matt's really stepping up his game for this album? Like he's always been incredible, but this is just pure beast mode.
He said in the documentary that this album pushed him the most. I'd say the songs aren't as hard to get to grips with rhythmically but the drum parts themselves are just insane!
Kind of, I guess. I mean physically speaking the parts are more difficult than a lot of the earlier songs, but as a drummer, this is actually the first Periphery album where I can totally wrap my head around all of the drum parts and figure out how to play all of them. So...harder parts, but less complex parts, I guess is what I'm saying. In my opinion anyway.

I actually preordered the producers pack but there was an error when I tried to download the stems. It only let me download one song, then every attempt to download the rest would finish the download after like 150 kb and then it locked me out. Tried to contact the website, but no response. Same thing happened to one of my friends that preordered too. But then we were bummed to find out that "stems" in this case meant a stereo drum track, stereo guitar track, etc. We thought it was going to be all of that tracks so there wasn't really much for us to do with it anyways. :p
I just can't speak enough about how much I love this (polyrhythmic possibly?) kick-snare pattern in the chorus. Fak! Love it! What an extreme satisfaction!

Man i'd love to be in a recording session with Nolly to see how he works. Are those still Saturn V toms, with a Saturn iv kick like in Juggernaut? Also, Weird mic picks with a 57 on the floor tom and whats looks to be a Beta 98 on hats? And the spacing of the overheads seems to be even from the snare from what i saw in the making of video, which in my opinion is hurting the cut of the left crashes in this video. But that's probably my lack of good studio monitors there. Man it's all so friggin interesting to me.
Pay attention carefully at the left channel. It´s hard to hear but the crash hit is there!. The china have a lot of sustain and attack and mask the crash very hard, but in definitive is there
1:16, he hits the China 3 times, but the sound is of a crash in the recording, then he remembers and switches back to the crash. It's like Conor said =)

I love, among other things, the fact that Matt doesn't rely on double kicks - that's fuckin' rare in metal music
