Back when they weren't afraid to race offshore. Not like today making laps around the bay. Sure guys don't die like they used to but back then it was a real mans sport. Today any chode with a bank account can go out and do 150 mph. Guys like Al Copeland , Don Aronow, Mark and Chris Lavin made the sport what it is.

Apache does; Cigarette? Not too sure? Apache & Magnum are the only 2 left, that I know of; making hand made 24° deep v hulls. I never considered step hulls to be true deep v hulls. This Apache 41' is an absolute BEAST!,,,,,,,😎.
@@brendanperry6429 the weight and weight distribution play a huge part. The Apache 41 almost always lands nose first by just a bit cutting any waves you land on top of and preventing crazy nose up up and away issues. Heavy is good in offshore race boats.
