Wow. This weapon has a lot more depth than I originally thought! Really excited to try these combos out. The combos u were doing at the end were VERY impressive, and cool! One thing I wanted to say though, (and u might have mentioned this in the video, but I may have missed it) is in another of your videos, u noted that jump canceling (and I think u also said evading, getting hit, or switching weapons) during top or overtop gear resets Cavalier to low gear.. Alan Conqvist That's really good to know! I was JC'ing way more than I should've been before u mentioned it resets the gears, and since then, my damage output has been much better, especially in BP were time to kill and being quick over being Stylish matters more. Thanks for another awesone guide, Alan. I'd recommend you over other guides for sure. 10/10!
2 years later and I still can't get over the fact that they gave Dante an actual motorcycle weapon. I remember watching the cutscene in DMC 3 where Dante uses Lady's bike to murder a handful of demons and thinking "Wouldn't it be cool if they made a weapon like that in future games" Needless to say, I love this game lmao
I always thought Slipstream was Dante running while dual wielding like an anime protag; I never realized the wheels were actually moving him forward and he was doing a powerslide with his feet!
In case people are confused about the invincibility demos, Cavaliere Angelo’s lightning AoE hits twice. He ignores the first one, and the second one is the one that gets him
I think that Eurobeat music you used sounds nice too. (I know very well that it came from Yakuza 5. Forgot the title of the music, but it always plays when you play as the super taxi guy Suzuki/Kiryu)
You actually missed the biggest disadvantage about Cavaliere R: You lose the hyper armor and stagger resistance Cavaliere has. If you get hit during the long, and wide open combos - you will get staggered/knockback - and that will break your combo and ruin your Style Rank too. With Cavaliere you can take a few hits, suffer damage - but keep the attack/combo running and keep your Style Rank! This is very important hidden property.
Perhaps, but Cavaliere R is better if you don't rely on super armor as much as it has one extra move and I believe it reaches overtop gear faster but I'm not sure.
Indeed, I'll typically pop DT if I'm about to get hit while doing a combo to help with that, and do recommend it, it's not like Dante has trouble getting DT ^^
I bought DMC5 the other night, and I forgot Cavaliere existed until I got it. Holy Christ this thing’s a blast; I thought I’d never get into swapping weapons during combos, but Cavaliere’s so fun and useful I couldn’t help learning. Finding out it has so many hidden functions is icing on the cake. Looking forward to replaying and replaying. Thanks for the tutorial.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC I read somewhere that the difference between normal Cavaliere and Cavaliere R is that while the latter has redline it doesn't have hyper armor.
2 things you missed/ forgot -You can choose the direction Full throttle and Red Line go, even when you cancel F.T. into Red Line -You can use another weapon in between Overgeard combos and still keep the charge, for example if you do Combo A1>A2>Cerberus' Crystal>Wheelie Jump, Cavaliere will still be in Overtop Gear or in Top Gear when you attack again with it, you can even do Cerberus full combo C and not lose the charge Great video as always btw
"The way Cavaliere works is a bit unique compared to the rest of Dante's weapons." [Has Caina suspended in the air with infinite donuts.] I dunno if that was really supposed to be comedic, but.... Hell, I laughed.
Favourite weapon by far. Gotta love initiating with Dr. Faust's pull, first two hits of Combo A, switch to Dante to High Time into unfinished Aerial Rave them, 2 more hits with Cavaliere and then Braking them into ground into another Cavaliere Combo. Antenonas realising they're not enraging any time soon: Wait that's illegal. And if they do flip has invincibility frames.
Watched you recent tutorial on Balrog which was amazing. Seeing this video on Cavalier as well - you've earned yourself a sub. Your channel is extremely useful, thanks!
So basically Cavalieres "Chaining" gimmick is the pause combos mechanic of the reboot, where every pause combo can be started with one weapon and followed/finished with another.
Nice guide!! I thought for the longest time I wasn't hitting Overtop and that it must be way too hard, but I've been doing it right this whole time (wheel glows orange). I really appreciate the detail you put for each move 🙂
Those invisibility frames, looks like those moments of DMC3 and 4, when I try to learn the Perfect Royal Guard or trying to parry an attack with another. Or the flying guard for some combos in dmc4. Thanks man. You're the best.
Mind blowing! I had no idea about how many things there were with Cavaliere. Hadn't even imagined it would have different "gears". I only thought that this weapon had insane stun but didn't know about damage potential. Imma try these in void and seriously try to incorporate Cavaliere R in my gameplay. Awesome video once again Alan.
I fucking love you for this one mate! I didn't know any of the things in the first part. Just that the attacks change if you attack with it for a while.
Would you be up for making a video on taunts and their properties, how best to utilize them, how to get certain taunts to come out, etc? That would be a helpful one for sure
That is from Yakuza 5 btw lol. That song plays when you're racing against some streets racers you met in the game. As a taxi driver. The most ridicilous yet probably one of the best side activities for Kiryu in any Yakuza games.
Full Throttle and Red Line can also be directed with no lock on (undoing lock on just as you inputted the attack). Also, the chaining is kinda like that of DmC:Devil May Cry’s playstyle then. It had lots of that with different weapons syncing together (except no speed increase etc etc pretty sure). Good vid though. Learned a lot.
You’re trying to change its direction- so all of it has to be done before any direction initiates. In simple terms... Lock on+Sequence for attack+unlock and look in whichever direction you want = the attack goes in that direction.
I’m on playstation so for me it would be... Lock on+foward circle(full throttle) OR back foward circle(red line)+Lock off and face the direction you’re trying to aim it in before the attack takes a direction.
no guide says it but cavaliere also charges devil trigger energy much more than any other weapon, i tryed a cavaliere+royal guard only run in blood palace, best weapon to use with RG easily
Great guide as ever, m8. I have a quite complicated feeling with Cavaliere and didn't use it pretty much. Despite it being really good to deal with some annoying trash. it needs you to time its moves for smooth combo and covers its long animations that lock you up sometime.(Now, I know I'm just suck at using it) When I saw its trailer for the first time. I hope we can ride it freely(like Nero's punchline) and do sick roadkill with a bunch of demons. I'm pretty sad when I know we can't, hahaha.
Between the design, the mix n match combos, the super armor, the impact of Gear Wheel attacks, and the fact that it's a fucking *motorcycle*, this has quickly become my favorite weapon for Dante.
Also a little detail that I noticed. When using Cavalier Dante has goggles around his neck. But the change is subtle because they are really only visible from the front. Just something interesting I noticed.
