I always thought Dave was a cool guy but since becoming a father his coolness skyrocketed. He clearly has come along way from being a crazy goofy guy in Nirvana.
America has an ageist problem. See, that kind of approach used to work decades ago when it was mostly squares in the 60's. But what used to be seen as youth culture belongs to, and can be viable and bear contributions from, everyone of all ages. The spirit of music is ageless. Anyone who thinks different is the one with the problem.
Whiskey and advil lol. Dave had me laughing and i missed the "oh." I bet he writes down responses for potential questions, like he writes down lyrics for music lol. When the interviewee is more prepared than the interviewer. If I interviewed Dave, i would prepare to laugh at his quick responses and expect them, because that is what he does lol
That being said, bad music has an expiration date: Take That: Dead Spice Girls: Dead Boyzone: Dead Britney Spears: Dead Westlife: Dead Five: Dead S Club 7: Dead Atomic Kitten: Dead Sugababes: Dead Girls Aloud: Dead Black Eyed Pees: Dead JLS: Dead *All the american idol and xfactor one hit wonders: super Dead* The Wanted: Dead Union J: Dead One Direction: Dead when the next boy/girl band comes out Rita Ora: Dead I could go on and on and on. Manufactured commercial music always has an expiration date of 5-10 years after the popstar starts, and less than a year when they quit because it's just terrible where as people are still listening to and discovering bands like Led Zep, Floyd, or Sabbath to bands like The Smiths, U2 or Metallica to bands like Radiohead, Nirvana or _Foo Fighters._ Pop listeners are being fed shit and they don't even know it haha
Age is just a number and doesn't matter if you want to play rock, punk or whatever just do it. There are enough examples of "old" musicians in their 70's etc.
Time passing makes me sad. I vividly remember being 14-15 in 1999 when they were a modern edgy alternative band and Dave was still only in his early 30s. I guess I just can't accept that Gen X and everything associated with it (i.e. rock music) isn't as relevant and cool anymore. It means I'm getting middle-aged too!
Is it because they are Dads, or because their fans are Dads? Either way, is there a problem? People always trying to divide people in to groups and tell other people what they are...that needs to change. Now, excuse me, my son needs his chicken nuggets and I'd better hurry because he might throw his sippy cup.
My guess is the fanbase (or most of it) which shocks and upsets me. I was 14 in 1999 when Learn To Fly was a hit and they were viewed as a cool edgy band very much "for the kids". I feel like 40 shouldn't be middle-aged and daddish now, but I guess it still is:(
Its a decent question, but oof I wouldnt ask it. My grandma once advised never ask a women her age, to that I'd advice I'd never ask a 90s band if they are dad rock. Its just politeness. Also lol @ Dave grohls "Please stop being concerned about how old we are" expressions in the interview. He's such a gentlemen though. I could see he was slightly irritated , but he just kept cool, and treated her with respect.
It is called Big Me. It's about your Dad. Like when you are a young son and you are just like your Dad, you might say he is "Big Me" And your Dad might call you "little me". Scholars believe this is where the "Dad Rock" genre was born in some circles.
I'm guessing this isn't the first video of a female interviewer where you made this comment. Let me guess it's about ethics in music journalism right? You do realize she referenced numerous past comments they've made in other interviews, referenced past songs, brought up the current album. She even brough up previous collaborations (including Rick Astley which most people don't), and the holy grail of all as far as doing a good interview of the foo fighters, she didn't ask them about Kurt Cobain or Nirvana. As far as being interested and getting them interested this was one of the better interviews I've seen with the whole band in it. In fact most of them you see their only good because of Dave Grohl's personality but you can tell they hate the questions. I think your comment says more about you than it does about her.
Millennials making fun of Boomers... because they aren't young and cool any more. Millenials aren't even cool now... what're they going to be like in 30 years?
Mariah Carey? Really? Not a fan. 😐 I can't even imagine what would come out of the relationship. I mean like please stay a rock band, we don't need another rock band turn country or whatnot. (Yes, BonJovi)
theband thing damn! I had never seen that, and I also listen to Seether often, I hardly ever watch the music videos though but you’re right. It’s the same concept. That’s kinda lame from Foo Fighters.
even though it is basically the same exact thing, its not like Seether was the first to come up with that idea either. old people jamming out to rock music is always used in things, like random commercials and shit. Bury Your Dead even has a music video thats kind of the same concept, where they play metal for a bunch of snooty rich people that eventually start getting into it.
“how do you guys get away with screaming every night?”
“whisky and advil!”
“oh..”
Ralphie Barba the look she gave them too, and how they cut away from it so quickly😂 why did she respond so awkwardly
that was hilarious
Ashlyn Robinson i said the same shit my god she probably thought they were serious! 😂
My understanding is Singapore is an extremely conservative country
Foo Fighters is a blessing to this world
anyone else think dave looks better when hes older
It's all in the beard and long hair
Yeah
It's the beard, without one he looks so bad lmao
I actually wonder how Dave looks without beard right now
@@Ty1350 yeah he has a pretty weak chin so the beard structures his face nice
I'm a dad but still rocking it with my toddler son.
That was me 10 years ago bro, enjoy every moment they grow up way too quick
"How do you guys get away with screaming every night?"
"Whiskey and Advil"
"Oh"
I always thought Dave was a cool guy but since becoming a father his coolness skyrocketed. He clearly has come along way from being a crazy goofy guy in Nirvana.

This girl made fun of me for listening to a dad band, but i don't recall good music having an expiration date
Foo Fighters + Dan and Phil and Jack -> marry me
An ex of mine used to take the p*ss out of me for still loving pop punk.............she's an ex!!! I still love pop punk!!!
Kristenisnotonfire "preach"

ooooooooooooooooooooo SHIT
i started listening to this band when i was 15 & that's because of reading and doing research on my own time about 90's music. thank god i did.
Why is Pat wearing a red triangle on his head?
GSK 82 he’s not it’s the logo on the screen 😂😂😂😂
Jeaneettee 15 no kidding
He's "Representin"
i’m dead
That's called "Illogical Closure" lol.
what's funny is my dad doesn't like them and me as a 15 year old girl loves them.
Because you Rock.
That actually makes a lot of sense. I can’t stand listening to them now, but I can see how other people younger and older and women and men can
They are a trip LOL. I would luv to hang out with them all for a day
My daughter is named Harper, too. I fucking love this dad band.
I love Taylor clarifying that it was "members of Led Zeppelin". He did his drummer duty there in honor of Bonzo.
I love how the Foos love Zep 🌟
Dave's hands look 19 years old
“whiskey and advil” ... “oh”
Right lmao
Age is just a number and doesn't matter if you want to play rock, punk or whatever just do it. There are enough examples of "old" musicians in their 70's etc.
Agil-Dogs exactly, for example, Charles Bradley only found his voice later in life and is incredible!
Agil-Dogs it does matter, specially in rock music where you see the biggest number of dads playing it
like Sammy Hagar
False age is a word
“Whiskey and Advil”..... “oh” *cuts camera”
I’m 13 and I’ve loved foo fighters since I was 6
Oh my god same
Prince Loved You. Did Your Cover During The Superbowl. You guys are now legends. :-O
And I think all of you must be comedians... funny as hell!!!!
“They were overjoyed when they were called “dad band” hahahaha the uploader cant seem to understand sarcasm hahahahhas
Just have Dave for the interview if no one else will speak.
Joe Marwil I think it's more of he won't shut it 😉😆
Taylor speaks more than Dave, I think it's the amphetamines.
I didn't know I, a teenage girl, was a dad
Same!!!🤣🤣🤣
Pats the man - he's soooooo f*ing cool...........
My idol band forever
I just want to go hang with Dave and the Foos and drink beer and tell stories.
Gen X never wanted to be cool.
Dave just got a god sign when she started singing dancing queen lol
So this is the journalist Dave said was a jerk for calling them a “dad band” lmao 😂
Didn’t expect Taylor to ever say Father John Misty as an answer
0:01 Oh the 90's :)
Bro they should team with jamiroquai
Is it because they are Dads, or because their fans are Dads? Either way, is there a problem? Mariah & Foo Fighters yyyyyyaaaaayyyyy. These guys are so cool
I would love for them to collaborate with violent soho
Jacob Ruiz oh shit YEAH!!!!

Foo Fighters have collaborated with Nirvana eversince they were born
Since Nirvana formed in 1987 and Dave joined in 1990, no they hadn't.

Chick is absolutely clueless
I cringed so hard when she started singing Dancing Queen haha
But everybody loves ABBA
Why? It only took 3 seconds and didn't ruin your day.
Who’s the long haired with the glasses?
Dave Grohl..
Rami Jaffee, keyboardist
Whats the song at the begining?
Big Me by the Foo Fighters :)
RRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
It is called Big Me. It's about your Dad. Like when you are a young son and you are just like your Dad, you might say he is "Big Me" And your Dad might call you "little me". Scholars believe this is where the "Dad Rock" genre was born in some circles.
Fun fact: Trevor from gta v was based off of Taylor hawking
except hes actually Steven Ogg
Hawkins
Christ....what's that make the Stones or Aerosmith
That lady couldn't care less about these guys.... Why have her interview them?
I'm guessing this isn't the first video of a female interviewer where you made this comment. Let me guess it's about ethics in music journalism right?

How? Knew more about the band then a majority of their interviewers that I've seen. Honestly you say that but with nothing to back it up.
For this comment, you deserve something nice: I'm not sure what it is, but maybe mashed potatoes with onions and bacon bits.
I don't see what you mean. She was very engaged.
Paycheck
Millennials making fun of Boomers... because they aren't young and cool any more. Millenials aren't even cool now... what're they going to be like in 30 years?
You missed Gen X, which is what the Foo Fighters are, minus Pat Smear. 😉
Talking bout my generation.
Love Dave but does he ever let the rest of band talk?😂
Why is always Grohl speaking?
It's not "always" Dave speaking, sometimes Taylor speaks for both of them.
Oooooh, adoro a Dave Grohl!!!!!!!!
Joaquin Phoenix!!
Mariah Carey? Really? Not a fan. 😐 I can't even imagine what would come out of the relationship. I mean like please stay a rock band, we don't need another rock band turn country or whatnot. (Yes, BonJovi)
And look it yourself and "Jesus" hahaha
They got the idea from seether. Not very original
theband thing which idea? I’m honestly wanting to know, I would like to compare :)
Gaby Arvilla the music video for run, it has the same idea as "same damn life" by seether. The video.
theband thing damn! I had never seen that, and I also listen to Seether often, I hardly ever watch the music videos though but you’re right. It’s the same concept. That’s kinda lame from Foo Fighters.
