It is important to note that the planar two since the end of 2020 has come with an adjustable bias slider. The old model featured the RB220 arm which much like the planar one that you have here and are demonstrating had the fixed bias or anti-skating as standard. At the end of 2020 the RB220 arm that comes on the planar two was upgraded to include the adjustable anti-skate.
I know this because I just bought one and I owned one back in 2018 and I ended up selling that and upgrading to a planar 6 that I use currently as my main deck. I decided to get a second turntable and decided to go with the planar 2 because I'd had such a good experience with it prior. Lo and behold when I opened it up and took it out of the box I noticed that in the instructions as well as on the tone arm itself it had the adjustable anti-skating. I contacted Rega about this and they told me what I just told you, that at the end of 2020 they decided to upgrade the arm to act as a better differentiator between the entry level P1 and the step up P2, so they made the decision to include the anti-skate adjustment.
It actually came as quite a surprise and a welcome one at that because on my planar two that I had in 2018 it had the non-adjustable anti-skate, so I was thrilled to learn that they're including it now on the revised model. It opens up so many more possibilities for cartridges and of course adjustment.
It is important to note however that the planar one or P1, like you are showing here, still comes with the automatic or non-adjustable anti- skate.
Sorry to be long-winded I just felt I had to be clear, and thanks for the demonstration I know other people who have done similar videos and it is very informative.
It's a shame you didn't wait a few years you could have got one with a adjustable anti-skate.

Well, like I stated in my video I couldn't afford the Planar 3 that I really wanted. I wish I had waited and bit the bullet, but at the time I was dealing with a crappy Audio-Tecnica AT -LP120 that had really bad anti-skate and a noisy motor that was driving me crazy!! I've done several mods on my P2 and I really enjoy spinning my LPs on it. Now, if Rega would just send me a new RB220 replacement with the new adjustable BIAS I'd be thrilled 😜😜!! I won't hold my breath on that one. I wasn't sure as to when Rega upgraded the RB220, but they should have NEVER put that crappy fixed magnet BIAS on any turntable, period! It has made it hard to use some carts on it, but now it's workable except for my Pickering (that's an odd grounding issue??). Now, if I really had the money I'd really love to have the P6. Thanks for stopping by! 😁😁

I wasn't able to keep the Pickering cart on this turntable. I tried it, but there is something odd and the Pickering doesn't sound right. I have to do a ground wrap using a single strand of copper wire on the Green and Blue pins on the cart. I did end up modifying the bolt/screw that's stuck to the magnet by using several layers of heat shrink tubing to better adjust the magnet in and out of the tonearm base. I covered enough of the magnet and bolt with heat shrink to keep them together. I mounted my Sumiko Pearl cart on this Rega and it sounds great! 🎸🎸
UPDATE: I made a follow-up part 2 video showing how to put the bolt and magnet together with epoxy and several layers of heat shrink, which turned out much better than this first attempt: ruclips.net/video/XEStfH_zouc/видео.html

I just bought a Planar 2 with the new tone arm, I think I will stay away of modfying it. I don´t have the time and the will to do all those things

Mods are a preference only. It was still much better than the POS Audio-Technica TT I had. I probably wouldn't have done some of that more if I had splurged and just bought the Planar 3.

@@VinylRescue Thanks bro, the planar 2 is already above what I was expecting to spend in a turn table. The 3 is way way out of my budget. Just want to be able to hear my dad's records in his memories

That tonearm is going way to fast! It should almost be stationary or just creep towards the middle!

It's actually doing better now after some fiddling with it. It doesn't help that it's a stupid magnetic system they used. I'd buy the newer tonearm with the new regular anti-skate, but it cost about 3/4 the cost of a new turntable. Right now it stays stationary in the middle of the record like it should.
