Lovely vid. My daughter has schnaffled a rather nice Rega Planar 2 (wood surround and r200 arm) from me once I found a nice Thorens. She's now "borrowing" much of my Joni, Bob and Leonard collection! Nice to see that when the time comes it can be refurbished. The R200 is still in perfect working order.. possibly the bias belt too... some how. She really does love the deck, so, if I'm still around, I'll offer to refresh it for her as things fial. Love from Wales.

Thanks very much for the video. Just used it to change a R200 tonearm for a ungraded Rb251 tonearm.
    Stay safe ☺

Thanks for doing these videos, just picked up an old planar 3 with the R200. Great videos and very well explained. Fingers crossed I don't need to do to much to get it running.

At the risk of being o.c.d. it might be a good idea to secure the template to the deck with masking tape so it can't move position when drilling the pilot holes? Just a thought! ;0)

i think that R200 was much more better than new RB220.

from a super long distance.... IF I was doing it I'd wish things were different, for a good pile of cash : 1. the base would be better if say 2 cm larger dia wouldn't it - more stable and far easier to attach without dinging up the screws. 2. and Phillips screws are marginal, supply torex type....real good vid thou.

Would you recomend the RB220 as a suitable replacement for a 50yr old Planar3? I have already upgraded the motor to 24v. Or would it be best to scap and buy a new one?

If you modify a Rega with a different tonearm (or other upgrades) do you automatically void any warranty? I have a P2 (bought about 6 months ago).

You could have picked up a very good RB 300 ( as fitted to the p3 ) from eBay at less cost than the new 220 and it would have fitted the hole in the plinth without having to drill more holes or adding screws. just an idea.

Hi; May I enquire if you change many R200 tonearms, and if so what happens to the best of them? Do you by any chance sort out the bias belt, check them over and then offer them in the shop or on eBay? Reason is, I'm looking for a removable headshell tonearm for my P3(2016) , and a good example of an R200 would be an easy slot in replacement. I do realise there are other R200s are for sale, but I would be prepared to pay a extra for a guaranteed refurbished example from a reputable dealer such as yourself.

We did do one, but the deck I used had an incorrect component fitted (still don't know how) so we're going to do another one soon .... we've been closed due to Lockdown and an extra week and a half due to Covid ... so we've not been at the workshop
