Watching this now in 2024 I am suddenly transported back to that magical decade of the 80s when I was a young man in my 20s and the world was a better place, and the Thompson Twins were my favorite band. Ohh how I wish that there was a time machine because I'd go back there in a hurry and never return!! ❤ 🎸 👍
@@bradthurkle7217 I never stopped liking new music, the 80s were good, but get in to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, then modern life isn't so rubbish. I find lots of good new music now, just don't hear it on the radio.

Thank you Mr. Bailey and associates.
As soon as I hear the piano at the intro it always makes me think back to those incredible times, first love, being young and healthy, really magical to be honest, miss those days..
One of the best parts of my life was the music of the 80s and i am so very lucky to have been in my late teens and twenties in that era- it will forever bring me happiness remembering.
Under rated band back in the day. I had lots of good times with this song playing in the background. They are in my top 10 bands in my lifetime. Thank you for the memories!
Underrated .....THE most over and miss used word on TY with regard to old bands. I what way are they possibly underrated? What next....ahead of their time?
@@CalifaJohn1 That's a bit harsh. I'm 59 and don't sing as well as I did years ago either. Andy Kim sounded good up until he was about 60, but he still performs occasionally. It happens, unfortunately.
@@Logan_Woods-zd2zi It's okay. I loved their songs back in the 80s. Maybe hold me now refers to the original recordings. I was a dancer in my youth. I decided to leave the stage before anyone asked me to. 😆 It was a good policy.
Saw the Thompson Twins in April 1984 in a small theater, great show! They were the first band I saw that used wireless headphones. Met Thomas Dolby in the audience, as he was performing there that week.
Wow. Military base next door my older sister is living. It's 1981 and She blinded me with Science first video I saw. 1984 Hold Me Now & Prince take your summer. The future is one of holding onto someone or something. (unknown) Thanks Mr. Bailey for your work for the Northwest US. From a kid starting there.
Absolutely love this. Takes me back to the 80's. Pity te rest of the band were not there. Tom still sounds as brilliant as ever. Came to my town yesterday.
23 years old in '83...loved this song and all the British New Romantic sounds of the early 80's - Spandau Ballet, ABC, Duran Duran, Thompson Twins, Kajagoogoo, Culture Club, Human League - Loved em all !!!! miss that whole time period
Wow!!! Where did all this GREAT MUSIC OF MY TEEN YEARS GO?!!! I LOVED Thompson Twins!!! Great to see Tom Bailey. Greatly miss the other two original members though!!!❤❤
My dad worked security at that concert. I was so jealous of him, getting to see them! (I was at a summer camp of some sort...) And of course, for him it was just a job. I did eventually get to see them in concert, at the SIU-C arena, in 1986 I think.
A song lesson to our 20 some things listen to how the start builds and adds interest, the piano then the drums come in, then the synth perfect 80s style truly timeless.
It's fantastic to see bands from my mis-spent teenage years still out there doing it , keeping the memories alive .they are a class act , and thank you for sharing this .

Fascinating when you have sung a song so many hundreds of times after 40 years you don't have the energy to sing it properly any more. Still after all this time the song is still worth listening to. This version is like a defalted balloon.
Was there also Paul. My brother did odd jobs for a promoter and we got free tickets. You got your value for money back then. Said brother had time to get a 38 bus home to make sandwiches and get back in time for Bowie. Legend!
We need Joe and Allanah to come along one day and complete the trio. Tom left the band way too early, but we understand why he did so. One week a year working together would be fun! Hey Tom, I always thought Quickstep and Sidekick would make a great idea for a film.

Good times every day. Open your heart.
@Mark Johanson OH STFU. Always blaming and not accepting your own faults. Presidents barely have an effect day to day.
It's all subjective; the good times that is.
Down the drain my friend

No shit!
The Thompsons best song in my opinion...
let's not forget Lay your hands on me....🌺
Without a doubt tbh couldn’t get into the rest of there songs
I disagree. My fave is Lies Lies Lies…

God I love your music Tom and all the Thompson Twins. Pity more of the band weren't present, but this is still good enough for me.
THE OTHER TWO, MADE THE SONG AWESOME!
Saw the Thompson Twins in 84 at concerts on the common in Boston, Mass. Awesome show!

To say that Tom Bailey phoned this one in would unfairly cast the telephone in a negative light.
Esta canciosn es magica. Me transporta a mi adolescencia.
I used to work with Tom in the super save in chesterfield , then went on to play bass with Tom and Stuart .
Music play forever.....
That is a special one right there .. it made it all much more live perfect is no good live is the real deal!
At one point this song dominated all the charts. Have some respect.
A big hit back then.
Part of the soundtrack of my youth.....😁👍👏
Great song! Takes me back in time!
Reminds me of the wonderful times I had with my girlfriend way back when!
With a guest appearance by Les Dawson with the keyboard introduction.
In all seriousness, this is genuine pop magic!
His keyboard playing is out of time, and ouch, hitting the wrong notes. I would have thoughts he would have cracked it by now, 40 years later!!
Haha!
Beautiful finale'
