Yeah me too, the 80`s was the shittest decade since the 1940`s. Shit music, shit hair, shit clothes, shit politics, but at least things could only get better.
I thought the lady was scary and seemed to be bombastic in the videos. Must've been the mohawk lol. But she wasn't at all. She came off as a nice, Teddy Bear in the interview.
I like them today as much as when I bought Into The Gap on 33 vinyl back when it came out. When I heard You Take Me Up, I knew it would be a hit, and then the video came out and it charted!
I remember seeing this interview when I was a teenager and becoming infatuated (read: in love with) Mark Heyward-Chaplin. I had this videotaped and watched him over and over and over. Then a year later my sister taped an episode of ALF over it, but as I was in the closet still, I could not tell her I was upset (she's the one that taped theTT in the first place)
I believe Lou Reed's "bad phase" with journalists pretty much was his entire career. He was a rough interview. But still, you'd think he could go easy on a lovely lass like Allanah Currie.
@@paulbradley4445 He was in Andy Warhol's band Velvet Underground. Now you may ask who is Andy Warhol...Nico had some choice words for Lou Reed as did nearly everyone else who ever worked with him. @@paulbradley4445 A tuneless twat that nobody gave a fuck about until ironic hipsters decided he was great. 99% of the general public couldn't name a Lou Reed song, for good reason.
You're kidding ,right ? This interview along with all of his other ones are painful to watch. Dick is so awkward no matter who he's interviewing, it's embarrassing.
My mother has the red jacket Alana's wearing, and she also has the yellow one that the black guy sometimes wore. When Alana was living in NZ, my mother bought the jackets from a second hand clothing store within the town Alana was living in.
Loved this band, they had 3 incredible years but by 85 it was over. Happened to many groups in the early 80's. I guess they didn't have a army of song writers like they do today.
Everyone applauded and screamed but US fans failed the Thompson Twins by not buying their music. Definitely deserved better. I bought everything I could get my hands on growing up in the 80s.
Tom and Alannah have been married for quite some time I believe...or maybe they got divorced? I can't remember. Anyway, I think I saw an interview from no more than 10 years ago I think, were they expressed that they didn't see any reforming of the group ever happening....
tall32guy...yes it's true...Tom and Alannah got divorced and have 2 children and live in New Zealand. No, they, unfortunately will not tour again!😞😰😰 John Keating
I know this comment is old.. but was he on drugs?! I saw an interview with Tom and Alana and she said some not very nice things about Joe.. it mad me dislike her.. but.. if there's been drug problems in their past.. I understand now..
I was in my teens and twenties in the 80's and I hated the music, the fashion and the vibe. You can't go from The Who, Zepplin,The Stones and Neil Young to the Thompson Twins and Till Tuesday.
You can. I was into Led Zep, Black Sabbath, The Who etc when I was a teen through the 70s but then I got into bands like The Cure, The Smiths and The Thomson Twins in the 80s. It's a pity you threw your toys out of the baby buggy and got stuck in the past, as you missed some great music.
The Thompson Twins may be the most underrated and under-appreciated New Wave/synth-pop band from the 80s.
One of my favorite groups from the 80s. Very innovative and impeccable recording quality.
I'm so glad I was a teenager in the 80s.
Amen😁
ditto
Same! ❤️😎

Agreed!
So humble and so talented! God bless them.
I love how much the crowd love them!
Agreed. Lovely vibe.
what's amazing is Tom Bailey just released a new album a few days ago called 'Science Fiction' how quickly 33 years goes by
the Thompson twins were my favourite band when I was a teenager in the awesome 80s & still remain one of my favourite bands until this day
Mike Price, so who’s your favourite band NOW ?

A nice fun interview. Shame it was not longer - the Twins were in an entertaining mood !
Great group
Was a teen in the 70s and miss this era of Saturday morning 🌅 TV 📺
The ageless Dick Clark. A true Icon.
I love the Thompson twins
It just hit me that today's youngsters may think these folks looked odd. We didn't think so back then!😉
I thought the lady was scary and seemed to be bombastic in the videos. Must've been the mohawk lol. But she wasn't at all. She came off as a nice, Teddy Bear in the interview.
dude have you seen the “youngsters” you speak of? Unless they are chained up sheltered living in an attic this is quite tame
@@slowlynow9 LOL! I like the way you expressed that!
So cool. Timeless songs!
I love her. What a great band

A Long Goodbye 🎶 is a timeless song...

@MrRibby88 Perhaps Mark is on fb?
An ALF episode! Oh no! This story is sad! But it’s also one of the most 80s things ever. Takes me back as intensely as this video did!
Uma das bandas mais incríveis que fez muito sucesso nos anos 80
I danced on this episode !!
You still have it.
LOVE THE SONG!
best group ever......get back together guys.

I'd have popped him one in his smug nose for what he did to her.
I know thompson twins but who is lou reed ?

Dick Clark was the best at Interviewing NO doubt about it
you are right, about the big NO. That interview was terrible!
You're kidding ,right ? This interview along with all of his other ones are painful to watch. Dick is so awkward no matter who he's interviewing, it's embarrassing.
Agreed, very chill and relaxed. No patronising rubbish.
My mother has the red jacket Alana's wearing, and she also has the yellow one that the black guy sometimes wore. When Alana was living in NZ, my mother bought the jackets from a second hand clothing store within the town Alana was living in.
es un gran grupo muy buena musica
Saw them in Boston in 85. Awesome concert!

Alana looks/sounds like Princess Diana, but with spiked hair and bold makeup!
Why didn't you show the song as well??????????

Last I heard Alannah is a furniture maker in New Zealand. 😊
Dick Clark had class
Ah, my old crush on Alannah Currie has reawakened! I love her laugh in this!
Dick had such serious questions ....
Joe Leeway was "tweeking!"

Suspect TT exploring other avenues.
I never noticed that Dick Clark was kinda 'Shady' with the comments!
🤣😂🤣🤣

2:03 HOLD ME NOW!
Thanks for destroying my eardrums in these airpods with that intro
I fell in love with Alannah, but she was the only thing about the 1980s that I liked. Oh, swoon, swoon!
Pete Davidson from SNL at 1:14
Nice suit. He looks like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas.
I think this is "Til tuesday"
No, its the Thompson Twins. Til Tuesday has Aimee Mann!
Brits rule baby
No doubt about it!
New wave/goth musicians on AB LOL
The 80's had a style all of its own exemplified here by The Thompson Twins incidentally being interviewed by a man in a beige suit.
Better than that gawd awful and awkward interview Dick Clark did with them in 1983 (it’s also on RUclips…look it up).
Currie looked always so scary
Rad
joe is funny
Risky move, letting Mark David Chapman into the band.....
Unfortunate coincidence in name or a bad joke on her part?
I had no ideal that Amiee Mann was part of this group
Yet another story of Lou Reed being terrible. Heard great things about The Thompson Twins as decent people!
usa...no AMERICA.
ugh, how cringe worthy from the yanks. would love this guy to have dared interview Johnny Rotten AAHAHAHAHA

It's a pity you threw your toys out of the baby buggy and got stuck in the past, as you missed some great music.
Why is Dick Clark holding Allanah's dildo?
and here is you....always a jerk with a stupid comment.....so are you trying to be funny?
