I couldn't have said it better. Even though it is a home recording, I feel this is a clear upgrade to the Rhiana version. It is one of my favorite of her covers during this period.

Angelina pours in melancholy & sadness and changes the story: she is asking the other to stay but already knows it's hopeless. So just by changing the tone of voice she changes the story of the song. I don't mind covers being far away from the original or staying closer. I prefer covers being original in some fashion and not just a bland copy. Angelina doesn't just copy and sometimes really changes the song around and sometimes stays closer, but always puts in bunches of herself.
Another outstanding performance by our barefoot princess. She totally sounds better than the original. If you watch her "Diamonds Are Forever" performance, you'll see the three horn players behind her are just as interesting to watch as they get totally into the song.
This is another one of AJs 1 take wonders ,, The guitarist comes over , they start scrolling threw a list of songs,, they decide one one, and the guitarist will learn the cords for 10 or 15 minutes and then says he I'd ready ,, she looks up the lyrics and turns the recorder on and he hears this just like we hear it for the first time,,, when it's done that's It!! They move on to the next song!!

Now, examine the fact that this is an 'at home' jam session where Angelina and her guitar playing friend Ivan aren't totally familiar with the song but decided to do it anyway. Ivan follows Angelina's lead as best he can, which she has to refer to a tablet at her side for the lyrics. While she's doing this 'on the fly' in 'one take', she rearranges the song as she's singing it and comes forth with a rendition that has more emotion laden penetration than Rhianna. You do know that Rhianna has sold over 100 million records, don't you? This girl is insanely gifted and proves it right here.
The way she ends this (the two runs on "Staaaaaaaaay") might be the most beautiful ending of any song, ever. And I always feel for poor Ivan, trying to concentrate and keep it together while obviously being deeply affected (and possibly slightly distracted) by the incredible performance Angelina is casually delivering in the seat next to him.
