I'm kind of confused how he has a higher intelligence than a professor but still plays him off as a dumb street kid. Magic of story telling I guess.
The whole bit with the fake robbery played out like an actual comedy show, it was one of those rare moments where everyone's wit was in the same place at the same time and i love it

This is a mix of a classic duo the grizwalds and the new duo the grovellos and the dynamic is perfect
Three episodes in, and I'm in love with this series. Every Yogsquest (I don't care they're not calling this a Yogsquest; it is one, and nobody can tell me otherwise) sets the bar a little higher, and the next has thus far always met it. This one is no exception.
The stream was called yogsquest. I think it's not called that because there is a subset of people who love specifically the call of Cthulhu ones even if they don't like all yogsquests

Depending on what "the bar" and "higher"are. Critical Role are fun in their own way. Yogsquests is equally as fun, in a different way.
@@corwinschuerch6691 I'm comparing each Yogsquest to the rest, as a new series would have to meet or exceed the previous in order to be seen as a worthy successor, which I feel each one has.
I'm not comparing Yogsquests to Critical Role, as they are *very* different series, and there is no direct comparison based on the styles. If we were to compare High Rollers to Critical Role, that would be another story, but that's not why we're here.
The escape from the professor's office was another of those solid gold Yogs RP moments. I was in tears.

I’m glad they are doing missed dues, one of my favorite experiences with Cthulhu
Hoping for Cold Warning next year, if they repeat it. Would fit the time of year also a lot of character focus in that one for Tom to do voices for and people's trash talking
@@NoFlu I think a good one would be Dead Light. It's very system based so it'll have a great dynamic of everyone trying to figure out the best way to survive the night. Plus the mystery of Doctor Webb and what the dead light was used for is really nice for players to discover (especially if they go the route of using the dead light to dispose of unwanted pregnancies like some Keepers do).

@@nathanielhonaker5748 That is a possibility, ye, but because it is all system based I think that it can have some really interesting things happen.
When I ran it, I told the players that they had to go to an event in the next town over, and when they were travelling that's when they see Emilia in the middle of the road. They take her to the diner where the scenario mostly takes place, however she's mostly delirious. At this point I was hinting they should go and speak to some of the other NPCs to get some information, then I'd let Emilia sober up and she'd tell them to take her home. However, they completely ignored the NPCs and decided "she might have been attacked, and we need to get to our event. So let's just take her to the nearest police station on our way to the event and we'll check in with her the next morning." They drive away from the diner (after passing an extreme drive auto roll to get through the storm) and make it to the even they were supposed to go to.
Next morning, they picked Emilia up from the police station. They claim she didn't remember what happened that night and they were planning on taking her home. The PCs offer to do it since they worried for her, so they drove her to the diner. When they arrived, they found the diner empty except for the day shift waitress was speaking to a patrol officer. Apparently when the waitress arrived for work that morning to cover after the night shift, everyone - from the staff at the diner to general customers - were gone, and the place was filthy, covered in a strange fine ash.
The players realise that their inaction lead to something terrible happening during the night, and then went on to take Emilia home, discovered the bodies of Doctor Webb and the gunmen, and found the ritual needed to seal the Dead Light back in the lead box. They waited until nightfall to try and trap and got into a really tense confrontation with it (policemen who arrived at the scene to help with the search started going missing, until finally the dead light sprung on them and forced them to fight).
It was a great scenario but can be difficult to run depending on what the players decide to do. Trying to redirect the players back to the scenario after they decided to leave was hard, and required a lot of improv.
@@jacobmould1576 in ours I failed the driving roll and killed the lady with my car, we dumped her body in the Forrest and we're chased by the light to the diner. Then we went to the doctors house after he had already been killed (presumably by the light) so we went into the basement and the upstairs was lit up so we hid in a secret room all night. Then went to the diner in the morning and the light started to kill people who were in dark isolated places and burned the diner down. We ended driving away erratically and were pulled over by the police and all sent to an asylum.
I forgot how much I missed the Yogscast Call of Cthulhu! There's never an episode where I don't bust out laughing.
I always hate the new people, until they win me over. This fresh young Tom only took 3 days. That beat the old Tom's record.

Same. I didn’t like Tom in the first two. He felt over-confident and narcissistic. Now he fits perfectly
@@CharlieQuartz I actually interpreted his over-confidence as 'anxiety to fit in', being pretty familiar with that concept myself. not fit in with his friends, but to fit in with US, to justify his being there rather than anybody else we may have wanted. he was eager and enthusiastic to prove himself, and that actually is what won me over. i can relate.
jamie kendall That attitude kind of annoys me because it betrays that they aren’t experienced with the situation/material and want over-involve themselves to try to fit in. I’m an introvert, so I appreciate much more people who are quiet until they’ve learned the rules and relevant information, respecting the wisdom of the others as well as their own ignorance, then chiming in when they are really ready.
No matter how many times I watch this the "I might be dead by then!" line hurts.

@@jmlkhan5153 Yet there entire channel is now dedicated to in real life videos, and only there second channel uploads gaming stuff and stream cut downs. As of recently I'd say there main channel is one of the few yogscast channels you won't find stream content, then again suit your self. Streams makes more money in the end most people are going to move towards it. HatFilms are at least making a dedicated effort to having presence in both places and keep the divide of what makes good youtube content, and what makes good stream content.

@jamie kendall But they’re still putting non stream-related videos on their main channel. They’re just only gonna be coming out once every 1-2 weeks instead of daily. I’m not sure why you’d want to “cut them loose” entirely just because the content you’re interested in is going to be coming out less often. That doesn’t make any sense to me, but you do you I guess...
