I really love to see how you've managed to be professional and very close and familiar with the customers at the same time. You sir, are one of the best vendors that i've seen in my 38 years of life. Too bad that i live in Europe and can't be a customer, i would buy products from you on weekly basis.
Thanks so much for being here. Although.....you CAN be a customer. We ship to Europe and elswhere in the world every day! Many great customers from Europe and we'd love to have you as one!
In my opinion, you do an excellent job of recommending affordable options in all aspects of fly fishing equipment. You have nothing to apologize for or be defensive about. No other channel has done as much for new fly fishing enthusiasts as you have. Thank you.
Thanks a ton. He just wants folks to realize that Mad River Outfitters isn't an uppity shop and we welcome all to the sport. No matter what your budget.
This is a great topic. The Sunrise Silver Mirror lens is the one Costa recommends for sight fishing. It is high transmission for low light conditions. I love mine, got a really good discount, and they are prescription. People really need to check out the frame material, because some cheaper plastic frames will crack when they get hot - I always went with Costa or Maui Jim because their frames are made of nylon, that won’t crack - and I have had some cheaper ones crack on me. I do have a darker pair made by Smith and they have held up very well too, so maybe these will also be good. So, it’s not just the lens material that’s important, it’s the frame durability too.
bought a pair of SunCloud aviators off you guys awhile ago and they are my favorite for beach fishing snook here in SW FL excellent glasses and glad you are highlighting them as an option…. polarized sunglasses are a necessity for beach fishing and SunCloud are top notch
I have been wearing Suncloud glasses for a dozen years. Thumbs up. Only complaint: As people discover them, the price keeps going up. The old supply and demand, I guess.
Bought a pair of random glasses this spring in the tackle shop because i lost mine and just noticed they're sunclouds. They've held up and don't have to worry if they break
I have a few pair of Suncloud over the last 8 yesrs and there great !! Only thing is the coting on the fram might peel off after some years, but for about 80$ CAN, I dont have any problem whit it.
No such thing really. All about bright light or low light. Some charts on our website. Feel free to call the folks at the shop to discuss further as well. They are always happy to help. Thanks for watching.
funny cause I discovered suncloud a few years ago. The thing with them is they fit me. I have a wider face and these just fit me and feel so comfy, never get the feeling they are going to fall off. I wish I could get non polorized ones as looking at a cell phone is terrible experience. Love them for fishing and just sun glasses. if they added bifocal for fishing they would be the best option
I use the same glasses for fishing and skiing. I use lightweight plastic framed plastic lens. I’m keen to know the technical details of why id should opt for more expensive glasses if there are available breakdowns?
Thanks for watching. Feel free to contact the folks at the shop with any questions about selecting the right type or brand of glasses. They are there to help!
Thanks for the review. I think it's important to add that Suncloud is owned by Smith Optic! I've been selling them for years in my kite store and they get rave customer reviews. I kinda disagree with the "decent" description, they're better than that, and on par with brands twice as expensive. My take anyway.
I have 4 pairs of sunglasses in my travel bag, two pairs of Costas, 1 Smith and 1 Kele…which cost me $9.99 one day at a marina gift shop. Look I love Costa, they’ve been a great brand to me over the last 30 years or so that I’ve fished and the new King Tide 8s are fantastic. But the Keles are excellent out on the water and no question I’d buy from them again.
OK this may be a silly question but what about those of us that use prescription sunglasses? I wear classic Ray Bans that are polarized. But perhaps there is a better option?
I just ordered a pair of prescription Costas from their website. They also have a dealer locator that shows dealers in your area and whether they can sell prescription glasses or not (need to be an optometrist to do so). If you buy direct from their website, they currently have a prescription lens sales going on - 50% off! Which meant that they were cheaper than my regular glasses with the same prescription.

I have two pair of prescription Costa glasses….be aware if you need to change your prescription Costa does not offer a good option to do so…they won’t replace just the lenses & don’t offer a reasonable option for optometrist to do so…putting new prescription lenses in my existing Costa frames would cost more than purchasing new frames & lenses….i now have $1,000 worth of Costa Sun glasses that are useless due to not having an option to update the prescription…like the Costas but will never buy another pair after having this issue…just thought you should be aware prior to purchase
Nicely done video I went with Costas due to the fact they have bi-focal lenses..needed for a guy who is blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other😂
I bought a pair of Costas ... had them for 2 months ... gone ... bought some Suncloud's have had them for 3 years ... go figure .. been happy with them and they seem to stick with me like glue
You'd have to read all of the comments on our last Costa video for full context. You'd think that Costa was eating babies raw for the money that they charge for GREAT glasses. We just wanted to let folks know that Mad River Outfitters offers options for those on a budget. Regardless, thanks for watching.

I bought a pair of Sun Clouds when I was in the shop one day, so far I love them and I haven’t lost them yet, which is a miracle.
Discovered them at a watersports store when I lost my fave.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the support. Really excellent value in good polarized fishing glasses.
Thanks for recognizing that not everyone has or wants to spend big money on everything. Not every shop does that.
Mad River Outfitters is KNOWN for being inclusive! Thanks for noticing.

Thanks for watching. Polarized lenses are a necessity for ANY type of fishing!
I have been wearing Suncloud glasses for a dozen years. Thumbs up.
Only complaint: As people discover them, the price keeps going up. The old supply and demand, I guess.
Thanks for watching. They went up about $4.00 a few years ago but other than that, have been the same great value for years.
I had Smith Sun Cloud Rose 30 years ago. They were triple gradient glass with French frames. These aren’t them but they’re hard to beat for 50 bucks.
These are really hard to beat for the money. Thanks for watching.
I did appreciate the review on Suncloud sunglasses. I'll probably pick up a pair now. I love my Baijios.
Thanks for being here!

Great video. Just about to order.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the support.
QUESTION: Is there any thought around best lense color for saltwater versus freshwater?

Thanks for watching. They are actually excellent quality glasses for the money!
It bugs me that the sunrise lens cannot be bought as an extra lens for many models. I have the rinconcito style and you cannot get that.
Thanks for watching though!

Please encourage them to make a fit over!

Costa does do prescription lenses......but only direct or through certain optometrists.
I wear glasses. I need sunglasses to fit over my frames. Do Suncloud make such sunglasses?
No, they don't, but these guys do: www.madriveroutfitters.com/m-19-cocoons-eyewear.aspx
Do you have any thoughts on the best place to get prescription polarized sunglasses for fishing?
Check with Costa or your optometrist! We can't sell them because we aren't licensed optometrists.

@@MikeTietel Nice work!
@@Madriveroutfitters If people are having a cow about paying $250 for sunglasses, they should have a look at what prescription sunglasses cost... ;-)

Thanks for watching. We gotta make a living eh?
I wish costa grande Catalina worked with my prescription
Sorry to hear that they don't. Those are some cool frames!
I’ve got costas smiths and oakleys. None are better than other. All about style and brand.
Thanks for watching.

@@Madriveroutfitters ohh trust me, I loved the Costas but I lost them during a float trip on the Olympic Peninsula.. fishing was good though 😀😎
Good prescription sunglasses under $200 would be nice.
If you find any good ones at that price point, let us all know...
Certainly would! Thanks for watching.
Much like a $1k fly rod vs a $250 fly rod. I’ll try these out next time I need a back up to my bajio’s.
Thanks for being here.
