    As Phenomenal as Ritchie was, he always gave his fellow Guitar Bro's a fair compliment. Even though he became the most imitated, and, influential guitarist of all time. He never gave bad blood to his competitors. Who he simple thought as, guitar brothers. The way we should all roll.

    There are always similar discussions going on. Blackmore is an unique player, mostly what he ve done live with Purple and later Rainbow Shows that he S a special one. Other may be great, but the Man in Black is a class of his own, his acting, character, playing..

    Ritchie has always been complimentary about Jeff's guitar playing, and I think he picked up one or two tricks from him, particularly when it came to use of feedback and the whammy bar. The same is also true of David Gilmour, Alex Lifeson and Steve Vai amongst others. Beck has been hugely influential on other guitar players.

      I'm sure ritchie picked up some tricks from jeff, but i dont think that its the whammy bar since jeff didnt really pick up a strat until the mid 70s? And even with the strat, jeff uses the tremolo very softly whereas blackmore had customized tremoloarms because the standard ones would constantly break due to him using the tremolo in such an extreme fashion

    • @delorangeade
      @delorangeade 2 года назад +2

      @@tobsixi6702 Jeff was using a strat on the Beat Club performance with Cozy Powell in 1972, although most of the footage seems to have disappeared from RUclips. At one point in the performance he leans back against his stack and uses the whammy bar to manipulate the feedback in the same way as Blackmore does in the live versions of Space Truckin' from around the same time. I can't honestly say who was the first to do this, but Blackmore did tone done his use of the bar in later years to something more subtle, although never in the way Jeff and the others I mentioned do it. ruclips.net/video/vb5GagBpA5s/видео.html

What Eddie did with the hammer on deal was brought to the light of day ever modern guitarist uses it to the point of stupidity. He was credited to bringing to main steam even tho few dabbled in it first who cares. Eddie is brilliant player. Now Hendrix he started it all no more said. Blackmore started neoclassical style that's why he get my vote for 3 in the world. His playing speaks volumes for its self. If you don't go be a Page fan boy that's the easy answer. You can say that no one will challenge you. Yes Page is brilliant but live I seen him at Madison Square Garden he was sloppy and looked out of it. Now here is where it gets strange: Jimmy Page is adamant that he never even MET Ritchie, let alone played with him (author Jerry Bloom spoke to Jimmy and confirms this)! I am a huge Ritchie fanatic (favorite guitarist of all time, have all his albums/ cd/dvds, etc), but I sense either a wind-up or something perhaps based on a kernel of truth (i.e. Trident-era Beck was in a Joe Meek session and Blackmore was merely present). There ARE photos of Ritchie and Jeff together (with drummer Cozy Powell, who played with both [which you have in the video]), but these are circa 1979-1980, not 1965ish. On another note- it seems there is zero doubt that Blackmore twice opened for Eric Clapton in the 1960's AND Clapton saw a Rainbow show in 1981 [all documented in interviews with others], yet, to my knowledge, Clapton has never once mentioned Ritchie and no films or photos show them together. I always found that strange.

      @thetruthhurts6652 Год назад +1

      I find that weird… They lived almost in the same town and hung out in the same clubs. They both knew Jim Sullivan very well and worked in the same studios. I think Clapton, Beck and Page had this private club and the media latched on to those three since the Yardbirds. Also, Blackmore always bad mouthing people rubbed a lot of elites the wrong way.

    • @VincePalamaraJFK

      @@thetruthhurts6652 Ritchie just wrote yesterday: "First met Jeff Beck around 64-65 and it was a session where we were both playing guitars and Jimmy Page was producing. I couldn’t believe how incredible he was, not only with his technique but his sound too. I became a fan of his ever since. He could reach up into the stars and make magic with his playing. His choice of notes were always absolutely perfect. This whole thing is a shock. We shall always remember Jeff as the best rock and roll player." I suspect the truth is on Ritchie’s side AND Page is correct that the two never formally met in the traditional sense. For example, I have been a part of in-person work projects involving people from other departments who I never formally met, yet (especially if one became famous) I could later claim that “we worked together.” ZERO doubt that Blackmore and Beck met- in addition to the 1979 photos of the two of them together (with Powell), Beck mentions him in a 1975 interview as knowing him back in the early 1960's.

    The reason Page didn't speak of Blackmore much was that Page wanted to spearhead the dark spin on the blues by melding in Moorish influences and so did Ritchie. Page almost got there but Blackmore took it further and more completely as evidenced by live performances of Catch the Rainbow in the Dio period. Nobody has ever made the blues darker and more dreary than Ritchie and it pissed Page off. Beck admired that in Blackmore and Clapton knew Ritchie was a fierce player but found him too intense to relate too.

    I'm pretty sure that somewhere in that conversation, when they said, "we need to do something about this GUY...", the n-word fell in there. It was that time and a commonality among British and American musicians of the time. They all were upset, to say the very least.... This guy just comes out of the clouds and sweeps aside like so much dust, right under the rug.

      @@neddobrijevic3183 really ? I think you are on a island 🏝. Let me respectfully ask you this ? So technically speaking you think he's overrated. I'm a professional musician lead vocals guitar and bass guitar. I opened up for national acts in arenas aquite a few times. I am dont dare think I was good as the bands we opened for. We did our best to blow there doors off. They Sabotage your sound wont let you use your own sound man light etc. Just making a point what your up against on the food chain when your up and coming. Not successful that why im talking to you now lol. You know these bands names leave at that. I respectfully disagree with you if speaking technically. He started neoclassical music snake charmer scale all musicians use today. In his prime the fastest lead guitarist in the world. He learned to leave space his credited to be the first shredder. All I can say is Jimmy Hendrix said to Eric Clapton when seeing Deep Purple backing up (remember what I told you about opening up) Cream in Mark 1 " Hendrix said who is this guy meaning (Ritchie Blackmore) Eric? He just blew your doors off." One of Hendrix favorite guitarist in the world is Ritchie Blackmore and Billy Gibbons of ZZ top. LOL! I swear that is what I always felt about Page? I can picture him living in the studio trying to Perfect every sound on every incredible Zeppelin album, as they ALL were, Wile his guitars get dusty... Unlike a Beck, Blackmore, Clapton etc. who I'd be willing to bet have never went a day in there lives with a guitar in their hands? Page is just different in that way & its always show in live performances sadly 😟 But I'd never change a thing as I still believe Page is the GOAT Overall in all the incredible body of work & influence that dwarfs the others IMO.
