Respect to Brian for the emotional tribute to a friend and the greatest guitarist of all time. This day 12 months after Jeff's passing remember him and treasure his music and all he shared with us
Jeff Beck was almost exactly 10 years my senior. Of the age of musicians who shaped my growing up. And obviously a huge influence on other giants of the Rock World. And yet, such a down to earth man, who maintained that to the end of his life.
And this is why we make the effort to listen to your music and to see you play live. Do you realise that we think the same of you? We look to you and others for our inspiration and because of your generosity, we find it. Thank you Brian for all the years you have shared with us. X

That are the nicest and most thoughtful words for a fellow musician I‘ve ever heard. Jeff will continue to be an invaluable source of inspiration for all of us and he will never die.
Jeff never made a mistake playing guitar, any sound he made with his guitar was correct somehow, just astounding, a touch and feel like no other, the greats were in awe and he was a close friend and contemporary, a sad time in the annals of music ~ RIP Jeff Beck
Maybe he *did* . I suppose every guitar player reaches for a particular note and accidentally bangs their head against a kitchen cupboard door in the process, once in a while. But we wouldn't notice, because Jeff was always inventive and open-minded enough to come up with something that would *make* it correct, and not be derailed by missing his own intended target. Over the last 24 hrs., I've said to people that there were certainly players who were faster, nastier-sounding, louder, and had more "hits". But Mr. Beck was always creative, innovative, open to the counter-intuitive and unexpected. There are players whom one thinks "If I practice this solo enough, I'll be able to nail it", as if rehearsing the tried and true and expected makes it possible. I often found myself thinking that Beck's solos were simply beyond my ability to conceive. And although it is certainly presumptuous of me, there was always a bit of a wink and nudge-nudge in his playing that made you feel like he was grinning at the listener, in particular, as if we knew each other.
@@markhammer643 When I started playing guitar around '89 had to go get all the shredder albums, Satch, Vai, Malsteen, Friedman, yada, came across a couple albums, Wired and JB w/Jan Hammer live, his playing was way over my head, couldn't grasp exactly what he was doing and how, listening now decades later, I understand much better what he is doing, still can't touch it, picked up some ideas for phrasing and finger style but his playing is so beyond anything and any other player.

This drummer's heart is broken. I have discovered that, since I cut my rock 'n' roll teeth on "Truth" among other discs, I had apparently expected Jeff Beck to live forever. And I can appreciate how, even within RnR's heart, Beck had to play it the way he felt it, and always forged his own path. We know souls like Jeff Beck's do not rest in peace. It is he who is on his way to his next gig and we who are poorer and sadder for his departure from brightening our world with his mastery of moving fingers in proper fashion across the neck and strings of a guitar. Play on, musician's musician, it was never so blunt an instrument as an axe in his hands, and may God's love be with him for eternity.
Very moving tribute Brian Just listened to "Where Were You" again after you mentioned it and it made me think of "Coming Back to You" another beautiful song (with words) Where were you when I was burned and broken? While the days slipped by from my window watching And where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless? 'Cause the things you say and the things you do surround me While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words Dying to believe in what you heard I was staring straight into the shining sun Lost in thought and lost in time While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted Outside, the rain fell dark and slow While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime I took a heavenly ride through our silence I knew the moment had arrived For killing the past and coming back to life I took a heavenly ride through our silence I knew the waiting had begun And headed straight into the shining sun As a youngster growing up in Detroit all you English guys were such an influence on me and my friends not to discount our local talent or roots. The music was such a big part of our lives and still is. The humility exhibited by such great talent like yourself is admirable and truly inspiring, knowing the tremendous talent, hard work, and dedication it takes to be recognized as a musician, sell records and fill concert halls. The greatest prize as Mark Knopfler says is "Love over Gold" and Jeff Beck certainly won that one. I also just watched the video where you, Jeff, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page met the Queen in 1995. I left a comment there that "3 yardbirds + 2 queens = a full house". Bit of a pun but meant as the highest compliment. Jeff Beck will always be a legend to those who love music and especially the electric guitar.
Brian, your heartfelt thoughts and emotion brought me to tears. To have seen and listened to Jeff Beck’s and your own music, to have lived in the same era along with so much genius and talent through the years gives me a sense of thankfulness for sharing this frame of time through eternity with you all. Jeff still exists.
"Where Were You", his masterpiece from the album "Guitar Shop" is one of the greatest pieces of guitar music ever composed. His touch, tone, and his melodic sensitivity in this song is absolutely unmatched. His technique and execution is simply jaw-dropping. Jeff was truly a one-of-a-kind talent. Thanks Brian May for choosing this song as your favorite.
Can you believe Beck, Clapton and Page were in The Yardbirds and we lived at the same time as them?.. and most if not all the time Jeff Beck outshined these legends. Unbelievable, Jeff Beck was one of the best guitars to ever exist and all I have left is to be thankful that we lived alongside these giants and we have the legacy of these amazing artists as our treasure trove and inheritance of genius and creativity for posterity. We are truly if not in one of the best, in the best timeline for musical wealth and beauty and we should keep their flame alive by playing their art and reviving their music through each and every single replay and interpretation. RIP genius. We'll always look up to you Jeff Beck. Thank you Dr. Brian May for the beautiful and touching words, you're also one of the greatest and a true inspiration. A true masterclass in humility and respect from you. You couldn't have put it in better words to remember this amazing artist who Jeff Beck was and still is.

Thank you Brian for your eloquent comments on the passing away of Jeff Beck!!! I almost feel as gutted as you do about his death, it's a terrible loss!!! He was one of Britain's greatest electric guitarists of all time, perhaps one of the greatest that the world ever had!!! We will truly miss him; our only consolation is knowing that he is now going to higher realms!!! God bless him!!! Rest in peace!!! AMEN!!! 🙂🌞🌻💛🙏
Brian what a lovely tribute to Jeff Beck, it's been hard for all of us guitarists worldwide to deal with the loss of the Master himself. What is tragic is he was razor sharp until the end and was always improving. Simply astonishing. This will be a hard one to get over, best wishes to you.
His melodic sense was unrivalled, his pyrotechnics awe-inspiring, it's as if he came from the future to give us a glimpse of the possible. God speed JB.
Thank you Brian for a beautiful homage to one of the most astonishing musicians of all time. He brought so much beauty into the world. He seemed to speak through the guitar; the first time I heard play live it was clear that he was operating on a completely different wavelength, and the guitar was just an extension of his body......it was a religious experience for me. He was a true original.
I love your comments. I love Jeff Beck's music, he is already sadly missed. I'm a 60 year old guitarist/mandolinist who's influences have been Hendrix of course, but also nearly every British/Irish/Scottish guitarist I've ever heard. I need to say that I'm in as much awe of Brian May as I am of Jeff Beck. I've been listening to Jeff's music for several days now, I've loved his music nearly my whole life. It's strange he's gone, but through his music he's with us for the rest of our lives.
Thank you Sir Brian May for sharing your most intimate thoughts over the loss of Jeff Beck. Your memories and colorful insights into Jeff, the musician, guitarist, and man, helped me understand what a brilliant treasure he was to us all. Well said. Rest in Heavenly Peace Jeff Beck🌹🎸
After watching this video, I went back and Listened to "Shapes of Things" by the Yardbirds. The very beginning of the solo in that song has some similarities to "Over Under Sideways Down" which Jeff plays and is on the "Roger the Engineer" album, released a few months after "Shapes of Things." But amazingly - parts of the solo has similarities to the solo work on "Taxman" and also the instrumentation on "Tomorrow Never Knows." But Beck recorded this before The Beatles Revolver was released. Shows how much of an innovator he was.
Brian thanks for your tribute to Jeff and sorry for your loss of a friend. I was inspired as a young man by Jeff Beck and other of his contemporaries trying to play guitar. It is sad news for sure.
Your heartfelt words are a consolation even in this sad moment. Thank you, Brian, for sharing with us your admiration for him. AS for "hug them while you still can", there's still time to "hug" the remaining lights. So, my deep thanks to you for your gifts to us. Huiswants es.
All the same feelings as you, Brian. Yes Jeff had an amazingly long run as the ultimate guitar players guitarist and inspired so many of us. For me, as a kid when I picked up Blow by Blow I was just mesmerized by his talent. I played that album over and over and over. He didn't really play a style of music,, he played Jeff Beck music. Completely unique and his own. Elements of jazz, rock, progressive rock, blues,... just everything all mixed up in his virtuosity. I loved it. the same Interpretation a second time.. Jeff was SOOO Inspired from music
that he found - ALWAYS NEW WAYS TO PLAY - Every few seconds - for 60 years.
This made him UNTOUCHABLE. -
And I'm shure : In hundred years from now - Music profs will TRY to analyze
his Playin and will have NO IDEA about what Jeff Beck did with his guitar !

RIP JEFF , CAN'T BELIEVE YOU HAVE GONE 💙
Respect to Brian for the emotional tribute to a friend and the greatest guitarist of all time. This day 12 months after Jeff's passing remember him and treasure his music and all he shared with us
What a beautiful tribute, and so heartfelt.
Hello super fan, Thanks for the love and support, Where are you watching from ?
Jeff Beck was almost exactly 10 years my senior. Of the age of musicians who shaped my growing up. And obviously a huge influence on other giants of the Rock World. And yet, such a down to earth man, who maintained that to the end of his life.
And this is why we make the effort to listen to your music and to see you play live. Do you realise that we think the same of you? We look to you and others for our inspiration and because of your generosity, we find it. Thank you Brian for all the years you have shared with us. X
Such a loss. He didn't play like anyone else that I ever heard. Brian May is about the best example of having an influence on innovative music and art. RIP
What a great and heartfelt tribute from one friend to another. Thank you, Brian.
❤
From such a massively talented and singular player, this says it all. RIP Mr Beck.🎸
Humble words from a great guitar player to another. RIP Jeff.

Beautiful message for your friend 🎸Thank you Brian🎸 RIP Jeff 🌹🕊️🌹
This is so sincere and real.
No doubt there never was and never will be another like him. He is the ultimate guitarist . ❤
That are the nicest and most thoughtful words for a fellow musician I‘ve ever heard.
Jeff will continue to be an invaluable source of inspiration for all of us and he will never die.
He was a legend who will be truly missed. RIP❤. Thank you for sharing you memories Brian.
Sir Brian May is such a class act. A warm, heartfelt tribute to one of his musical peers. The man is gone but his music will live forever.
RIP Jeff ❤️
From your heart Brian. What a loss.
Jeff never made a mistake playing guitar, any sound he made with his guitar was correct somehow, just astounding, a touch and feel like no other, the greats were in awe and he was a close friend and contemporary, a sad time in the annals of music
~ RIP Jeff Beck

Thank you Sir Brian for your heartfelt eloquent words on Jeff Beck.
Hello super fan, Thanks for the love and support, Where are you watching from ?
Hi Brian as an ex Trident tape op I loved your sentiment..I was their in 81 as a kid but the walls echoed with great artists.RIP to Jeff.
That was as moving a tribute that any man could desire.
R.I.P. Mr. Beck.
You will be missed.
Very moving tribute Brian
Just listened to "Where Were You" again after you mentioned it and it made me think of "Coming Back to You" another beautiful song (with words)
Where were you when I was burned and broken?
While the days slipped by from my window watching
And where were you when I was hurt and I was helpless?
'Cause the things you say and the things you do surround me
While you were hanging yourself on someone else's words
Dying to believe in what you heard
I was staring straight into the shining sun
Lost in thought and lost in time
While the seeds of life and the seeds of change were planted
Outside, the rain fell dark and slow
While I pondered on this dangerous but irresistible pastime
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the moment had arrived
For killing the past and coming back to life
I took a heavenly ride through our silence
I knew the waiting had begun
And headed straight into the shining sun
As a youngster growing up in Detroit all you English guys were such an influence on me and my friends not to discount our local talent or roots.
Thank you Brian.
Absolutely Juan.
Very true. It's sublime.
check out live at Ronnie Scott's too everyone. Wowza!
Wow, such a heartfelt tribute! Jeff Beck was unique. As a guitar player I also felt a sense of awe listening to his music. RIP Jeff. Thanks for the inspiration 💓
Thankyou Brian, a great tribute about Jeff Beck a fantastic guitarist indeed, cheers from New Zealand.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Sir Brian, and my condolences go out to Jeff’s family and friends, he will be sadly missed by the music community, fans and all who appreciated and respected his virtuosity, skill and sheer breadth of his talent as a musician. There are very few artists who can reach a person on a visceral level, he was one. Thanks for your heartfelt tribute.
Beautiful.
Thank you Brian May🙏
I think that anyone who's ever picked up a guitar feels this loss a little more than the others, because he was so unique to us, particularly. A dreadful loss but a beautiful legacy. Remember his music and he's not really gone...
Lovely words Brian. Where Were You? Listening brought tears to my eyes. Love never dies, nor does energy, thus neither do we-RIP Jeff
What a beautiful tribute to your friend, Jeff Beck! He graced this world with his talent. Soar high, JB!
Hello super fan, Thanks for the love and support, Where are you watching from ?
Sweet, heartfelt tribute to Jeff Beck. Thank you Brian May. Love Brian May and Queen!
You speak for many of us from your generation. Jeff was not only a guitar legend but an inspirational example of how to be youthful and cool 70+ years old with or without a guitar. A special shining and ever-present light has sadly gone out for many of us. RIP Jeff.
What a wonderful human being Brian is.I have such respect for him.We have all been devastated by the shocking passing of Jeff. It's such an incredible loss to the world.
My deepest condolences to you as you share the loss of a absolute hero in the eyes of many. He will be missed 😢
Thank You Brian, 🙏🙏🙏 RIP Jeff
Oh Brian.. you look so sad.. and this is a beautiful dedication to your friend. May he rest in peace and may you and all of his family, friends and followers find a way through the sadness soon x
Thank you Brian for your eloquent comments on the passing away of Jeff Beck!!! I almost feel as gutted as you do about his death, it's a terrible loss!!! He was one of Britain's greatest electric guitarists of all time, perhaps one of the greatest that the world ever had!!! He was a true legend of a rock musician, amazingly brilliant, talented and creative!!! An inspiration to so many people, not least to young budding rock guitarists!!! We will truly miss him; our only consolation is knowing that he is now going to higher realms!!! God bless him!!! Rest in peace!!! AMEN!!! 🙂🌞🌻💛🙏
Much love to you Brian. Jeff's passing is impossible to fathom for any of us.
Great tribute from a legend to a legend..Thanks Sir Brian..RIP Jeff
The very beginning of the solo in that song has some similarities to "Over Under Sideways Down" which Jeff plays and is on the "Roger the Engineer" album, released a few months after "Shapes of Things."
But amazingly - parts of the solo has similarities to the solo work on "Taxman" and also the instrumentation on "Tomorrow Never Knows."
But Beck recorded this before The Beatles Revolver was released.
Heart Full of Soul was in every garage band repertoire in our day and Shapes. Showing my age but happy Jeff was in our lives for such a long time and seemed to enjoy life to an age that we should all hope to attain. Had a few teary eyed days but now know he is on a much higher plane and at peace. Thank you for the heartfelt words Brian.
Brian - thank you for your heart felt comments about my favorite guitarist and thank you for reminding us of Jeff’s incredible composition, Where were you.
Rest in Peace in the arms of the Lord. May all the golden rays of shine on his beautiful soul he touch everyone lives. Condolences to his family and friends. Amen
Beautiful words Brian....
His rendition (Jeff Beck's) of A Day in the Life (Beatles) is so special first time hearing was blown away - what he could do with just one note was amazing - what a loss to the world - but what a gift he was even more so
Steve, "His rendition (Jeff Beck's) of A Day in the Life (Beatles) is so special first time hearing was blown away." I'm curious when and where you first heard it. I distinctly remember the first time hearing him play that over 25 years ago. It was in Concord, Ca. The place went wild -standing ovation.
@@hoover8699 Hey Keith I was streaming (Live in Japan) driving in my truck - probobly about 4 years ago - That's an awesome Album - show's Jeff with a black les paul on the cover - I had a chance to see him here in Austin , TX - but did not make the show will forever now regret that - peace brother

From one unique guitar player to another. Thanks Brian!!!!

I know Jeff will be missed. Especially for his family, friends, and his fans. Such a great loss of a wonderful person. RIP Jeff. 🙏
💯
Jeff's music will always bring us joy! I was lucky to see him here in Paris a few years ago - without a doubt the best concert I have ever seen. Thanks, Jeff.
He was still well in his prime, a powerhouse.
He was, such a good point. I can’t remember who said it (maybe Page?) but there’s a quote that someone said he’s the only guitar player who has gotten even better over time.
What a beautiful tribute. So touching... thank you Brian.
Brian, you've said it better than anyone. The loss of Jeff Beck slammed me to the floor, his influence on my guitar playing is huge.
I also love you Brian. You are so humble. Thank you for this wonderful clip about Jeff. Another goodie gone too soon😢
Hello super fan, Thanks for the love and support, Where are you watching from ?
What a lovely tribute, Brian... and coming from you, saying that you are in awe, makes me love you even more. You are a very good guitarist yourself, yet you are so humble. I met you several times, when Freddie was around, and talked with you guyz (interviewing you for the album The Works, the first time) over the years. Interviews, gigs...
I was in tears while you were talking of Jeff Beck, not only because of what you said, but also because you were almost in tears yourself...YOU are a great Person!
Rest in power, Jeff...stay in the light.

Never forgotten...(the world is mourning over your *departure* 😓😓)

Thank you so much, Brian, for those wonderful heartfelt words. I know what you mean. All we ever talked about was his love of cars and he said he hated talking about his music, he just played. Yes, but oh how he played.
Condolences Brian, and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and feelings about Jeff. The news of his passing was sudden and shocking for many of us, but it must be much harder for those who knew and made music with him to accept it.
Thanks Brian, so much. Beautiful mix of the personal and the guitar fan. Been listening to Jeff for 50 years and playing the guitar for 40. It is like a parent dying.
Sincere condolences Sir Brian, and such a tragic loss to the music industry. Thank you for taking the time to share your incredible memories of this truly remarkable guitarist we've all grown to know and love listening too! He leaves a rich legacy of music, and so many incredible memories.
Recently, I watching him here on youtube when he had been in concert and touring with Johnny Depp and Anika Nilles, and what a line up they made together with his band, yet another example of great and incredible musicianship in rock music. He will be greatly missed, and always greatly admired for his influential inspiration to many a musician, and for many yet to enter the world of music.
SO well said
Jeff was as Rock n Roll as it gets. The real deal. RIP, Mr B. I've just listened to "Where Were You", and I have to say it was the right song and the right time, thank you.
Many thanks Sir, for sharing your touching words and memories!
What lovely words, he was an amazing talent. I like to think that he completed his journey, he absolutely "won" at life. Well done Jeff and thank you for being you and leaving us the gift of music.
What a Wonderful statement.. Jeff Beck was definitely One of One.. Rest In Peace..
I loved it. He never stopped tinkering as well. stayed on the cutting edge of guitar right up until today. Will miss him. Thankfully we have his music.
Beautiful colorful heartfelt tribute to Jeff Beck from the incredibly talented guitarist and sensitive intelligent beautiful man that Brian May is. So thankful we still have Brian on our planet. I realize it’s about Jeff right now but I love and respect Brian May so much. He’s an irreplaceable treasure as well. So sorry for the loss of your uniquely talented friend Jeff Beck.
Absolutely beautiful tribute. Thank you. May he rest forever in peace. 🙏
The Guitar Shop album is amazing. It has some beautiful moments with a bit of Frank Zappa madness thrown in. Jeff Back always exited me when he played. I am a guitar player myself and created my own style and sound and that was the biggest influence I had from Jeff. A well felt tribute, thank you Brian.
Thank you, Sir Brian for sharing with us on such a sad day. I will look up that song and listen.❤😢
Your from the same mould Brian , a legend too.
You said it just fine Brian..
I've been in awe since I was 16 listening to Jeff. He's greatly loved and honored, we will miss him!
One legend is speaking about another legend
An astonishing, inspirational musician, who will be sadly missed, but ever appreciated; I'm sure your humble, heartfelt appreciation will bring comfort to many who knew him.
Jeff Beck
Rest In Peace.
