    as always nice video...I had a x100f until someone thought it was worth to grab and run...I thought then to buy the new X100V...but at the end since a new X100F was half price of the X100V, I took the old one. At the end of the day for my photos is more than enough, and honestly I don't see (I have tried it) so exceptional upgrading on the new one, just to justify that price. Sometimes we are so focused just to upgrade our gear that we forget the real essence of photography. I don't deny that sometimes I would like to buy this or that, but then I look at my bookshelf where there are two old cameras of the 40's, that my grandpa used during WWII, and he took nice photos, cameras that today are "ridiculous" in term of specs. So maybe we give too much power to the tools...

    • @mackdj43
      @mackdj43 4 года назад +2

      that's a great point that I think we should be reminded everytime we see a new camera and yeah, sometimes the price makes you question everything, that's why I'm thinking of getting the 'F' for the same reason.
      Just a quick question, have you done any shots at night/low light with the lens wide open? 'cause I get that it's soft when you do macro stuff but I haven't seen other examples.

    • @FaizalWestcott
      @FaizalWestcott  4 года назад

      Peter Price Going from black to silver was my biggest dilemma because I think the black body is more practical for staying discrete. But the new silver finish on this camera was too nice to pass up and so I better get my money’s worth lol. I also convinced myself into thinking that the Silver model makes this look more like a “photographer’s camera” and so maybe it’s less suspicious looking in a way than if it were all black?

    • @syrcular
      @syrcular 4 года назад

      Faizal Westcott Yeah I had the same exact hesitation but a few of my photographer friends have told me that silver tends to look less “sketchy” so people tend to dismiss the silver cameras especially since they look like film cameras too.

    • @mackdj43
      @mackdj43 4 года назад

      I think the strong point for the ricoh it's the snap mode. Honestly, for that and their color science (positive film & monochrome) I'd go for the ricoh, unless you always use an EVF.
      So, it depends if you rely on the AF and if you need weather sealing; either way, in my opinion I think they're slightly overpriced lol

It's a nice camera and I have taken some pictures that I really like with it. The X100V's upgrades have made the camera much more appealing (I am a huge tilty-flippy screen users) especially the better lens. I'm just doing a lot more film photography that I don't really see a big need to upgrade at the moment. I might change my mind as I watch a few more of your videos though.

  • @lorenschwiderski

    You may consider shooting on the street without the backpack. You become just another tourist on the street and it is just so much more comfortable. Actually, it doesn't matter if they notice the camera and photographer, as a street photographer -- just smile - maybe show them the image and tell them they look great! That is unless it is of a girl with a boyfriend that looks like Big Bubba! I am too old to run, so would plead innocence or insanity :)) When I do show people the image, and they do not seem pleased, I will tell them it will not go on the Internet. Maybe for your videos you need more gear, thus backpack.
    I am not sure I can go back to the days of a single lens, but if I did, this is one fine little camera. Fujiflm and Olympus know retro! I noticed that the screen does fit in well, being relatively thin and recessed to flat - smooth look. The silver look is great. Did you know that in the old days the all black were the top-line? In the end both look sharp. -Loren

    I’m thinking of getting a fuji this year to start my passion for photography, but i’m torn between x100 f or v. The price point definitely is a big part i consider the most. But I also think of my skill level, is x100 f or v worth for a newbie in photography?

    • @Hansinho10
      @Hansinho10 4 года назад +1

      That's hard to say. On the one hand I would say no, because with the X100-series you are limited to just one lens. But as a beginner you need to explore first and foremost, what kind of photography you are interested in. So let's say you buy the X100 F or V and then you recognize that you like to take pictures of flying birds or people who do sports. That's a type of photography where you definitely need a tele zoom lens. If I were in your spot, I would buy a camera where you can change the lenses. If you like Fuji you can buy a X-T200 or X-T30 for a lower price as the X100F or V and then invest the rest of the money in a kit lens. Although this lens has not the best quality, you can experiment with it, to find out, what kind of photography is for you. Then You can buy better lenses. The X100-series is more an emotional buy for people, who like a beautiful second camera. On the other hand it depends also on your money. If the price of the X100F or V is not a problem for you, then buy it and enjoy it. But to learn all aspects of photography, a camera with interchangeable lenses is a better starting point.

    • @ovietb
      @ovietb 4 года назад

      Agreed, the x100 series will restrict your experimentation and photography exploration.
      The x100 is more for people who have been shooting for many years, and love the 35mm focal length.
      T20 with a zoom solid starting point, after a year, see where you shoot most. For me 75-80% was with a 35mm, 20% was at 85 for portraits(professional event work). Once I stopped professional work, 35mm is all I shot, x100 series was a no brainier.

      A iKONIC I have been in your shoes since the X100V came out. I have done so much research the past month, and I’ve actually decided to get the X-Pro 2. It’s also a rangefinder camera but you can swap out the lenses. I feel like this is the way to go for me. Because I also shoot a lot of landscapes. This camera is also pretty compact if you throw on a pancake lens. Anyways, there’s my input.

      LocoDice 乡 It’s not terrible at low light, but you’ll see a significant drop in image quality. The Auto Focus speed isn’t as fast as it is on the V, but it’s all subjective to your needs and how you shoot

    Important question for you. I started photography way back when there was nothing but film and I had a Canon A-1 which was I believe the very first camera with digital metering. My other camera did not have any built in light meter so I had to have a hand held light meter. Therefore my question to you is how do you determine your F-Stop and Shutter speed?

    If the front and rear grips were just a little bit more pronounced, you could have also have put in a larger battery as well? The price of the F model is dropping, maybe if it goes under the 700 quid mark, I might give it a go? The 1300 quid for the V is just too expensive for me☹️

      If you can wait 2 years, the 'V' will only be £500-600 then.

    Great video. I have been looking into this for a while now. I believe that upgrade is not worth the money. Yes, the design seems to be more user-friendly, the lens is sharper. A sharper lens is only for pixel peepers and is not required for most people. The x100f is better bang for buck since it is older and the price should be heavily reduced.

      I still shoot the ‚T‘ also since it came out. Recently got a used X-Pro1 with two lenses for half nothing. Always wanted an XP. It is great, I like it a lot. But I re-discovered why I got the X100T in the first place, compact, great shooting experience, bring everywhere and no stuff like camera bag, thinking which lens next etc....so liberating. All of a sudden I prefer the X100T again 😉. Life is strange 😂. As a hobbyist that likes to document everyday stuff, I think it is a perfect camera, all you need really.
      Don‘t think I need to upgrade just yet. I am not a fast shooter and I think the 16MP suits the APSC very well.
      Cheers from Switzerland

      @@josekaijiecastaneda6014 yeah the T is still great, I just started to take photography more serious again and thought I need an XPro. I do like the feel of the Xpro, it does make you think you have a more professional camera in your hands, got the 18/2 and 35/1.4 lenses. Both great. But lately I prefer to take the X100T with me again, just a lot easier to bring along.

      I don't know about Faizal's experience but I've owned the camera for about a month, shot with it frequently, and I've had no problems with overheating. The back gets warm pretty quickly, but I've never had the camera actually put up a warning message. I also shot some 4K video, but only short two-minute clips. So far so good.

      @@pokebrother2330 I've never shot with the gr iii. From what I hear it's a great compact camera. One of the reasons I went for the Fuji was the viewfinder - it's just how I like to shoot. The lack of a viewfinder on the Ricoh isn't a dealbreaker for me, but it definitely influenced my choice of which camera to pick up.
