Great review. How do you rate the use of this setup when you might be out vlogging vs say a videomicro on the camera? I was wondering if securing the lave underneath clothing might be a good option in times where wind / background noise etc might be super intrusive....or... would you really only use this is scenarios such as interviews/weddings etc and stick with a mounted directional mic for vlog type scenarios? Cool video as always!

Another awesome video - very helpful! The initial Rode wireless is an amazing product and they've improved it? Gotta get me one. I ordered the Lav mic from Rode and it took five months to get it. Just a heads-up that they're backed up like crazy on the Lavs.

I have the original Rode Wireless Go and this is going to be 100% an upgrade I am going to spend the money on!!! This will be PERFECT for once my fiancée and I start our RUclips Travel channel. This way we have our own mic and our audio is combined via the dual channel receiver. Plus this will be fantastic for when we get married and for future wedding videography jobs we do. One on the groom and one on the bride...perfect for every wedding videographer!!! This definitely a must have in any camera bag along with Rode Lav Mics

@@DavidManningvlog Exactly!! Have both of us be able to have our audio on 2 different channels in stereo. Plus since the receiver stores up to 7 hours of audio, be able to fix things if there is anything that interferes while out filming. It's perfect and also perfect to get us both exchanging our vows when we get married eventually, yet still be able to clearly pick up the officiant.

  • @TwoGuysandaRide

Being able to record your audio directly into the transmitter is a big game changer with the Rode Wireless Mics. We use the First Generation and if we or our subject turns their back to the receiver then the audio cuts out. The first generation requires you to have line of sight directly from the transmitter to receiver and if something gets in the way then you will loose some audio or get unusable static. Im glad you mentioned the recording feature built into the transmitters! I may have to upgrade now!

I have a question regarding on editing and exporting the hero 9 5k 30fps file video. I recently made a video and edited on FCPX and it was on the 5k resolution time line 5120x2160 as it was given option by FCPX. When I exported it on master file and the final product looked smaller in "view" screen wise where normally the video would take up more of screen space on preview.

Hi David, great video! Can I ask, how does this compare to the Movo WMX-20 DUO? I like the fact that the Movo comes with 2 lav mics (I would definitely want to buy 2 lav mics to use with the Rode as you say, which obviously increases the overall price) and that they have the locking mechanism. Or do you think the lack of locking mechanism on the Go II is less of an issue when compared to most wireless transmitters because it's so small and light? Also, the whole Movo kit is only $200. Any thoughts would be really appreciated :)

The channels on the camcorder will be replaced and used to sync preventing drift after hour recording. Having the transmitters store uncompressed audio on each device I would use that sync them and scrap the receiver audio to the camcorder.

Being able to record two separate sources into one camera is nice no matter if it is two lavalier microphones, or one boom and one lavalier, or maybe even two boom microphones for musical instruments.
My use case specifically is the ability to use the overhead boom microphone for my two kids on their channel while I use a lavalier either behind the camera, or sometimes I'm walking around behind the camera. At least than my replies are much crisper than what they would have been if I only had one boom and less headache than the second camera with second boom I use now (mostly because my primary microphone has a safety channel.

@@DavidManningvlog I’ve checked with someone else and they have the same issue. Basically try recording internally and use the levels on the receiver. When you bring it into your editor the levels are lower? Try it i hope i made sense

I opted for a duel set of transmitters that was far cheaper and can transmit audio as far as an entire football field. You can also change channels on them.

you need to compare it to the Comica BoomX-D dual system! is' cheaper and includes the Lav mics. I have it for 8 months and like it a lot. would like to here a comparison in audio quality. Rode = $460 vs Comica = $260 is quite compelling
