@@Nowhandles It does hurt. As a Texas singer/songwriter myself, Charlie and I have crossed paths, shared music bills the last 25 years or so. Had some laughs together, along with his musical family. Was heartbreaking, Charlie announcing back in 2016, that he'd have to retire from singing and performing. But, over time he refused to accept that. Went and saw him perform last spring, as he wanted to get back out there and at least try. He hadn't been in the best health, but it didn't seem like a dire situation. Sadly, we were wrong. So tough to lose these great artists, writers, performers that we have lately. Especially those who seemed to have more songs and music to give us.
@RebelDukeTX Condolences again friend. 😢 However, Charlie has brought you & I together. That's pretty cool, I'd like to listen to your catalog, if Charlie was on the same bill as yourself..it'd be an Honor to hear you. Thanks in advance.
12 years listening to Charlie. It was sad when he had to stop when his voice gave out, but this is permanent, final. RIP Charlie, Texas will not be the same without you.
I'm no Texan, I'm no American but I can feel the ethos carried by the song. I just simply love it and listen to it again and again. The more I listen, it become a masterpiece by itself.
Same here, Annie. I never tire of the simple, yet special accoustic sound of both Charlie and his brother, Bruce. Growing weary of the restraints of Nashville, Charlie left to join a smaller, more independent label. Creatively speaking it was a good move, judging by the quality of "My Hometown" and other masterpieces. By the way, you should give a listen to Bruce's obviously autobiographical "My Brother and Me," also available on RUclips.
RIP Charlie Robison, you will be missed by all of us who loved your tunes. I promise to play your songs at every show I do. Hope to do you justice good sir.
I am 61 now. I grew up in a little Texas town. Everyone knew everyone else. You played football, baseball, together. We hunted, fished, and survived a lot of foolish, dangerous decisions together. We drank our first beers together. That word together is a bonding word. Experiences shared create those bonds. Friendships from those times have endured to right now. Sure, everyone goes here and there and beyond. I did 28yrs in the military and ran around the globe. To this day, I can call all of those guys and we pick right back up where we left off talking last time. I am a 7th generation Texan and proud to be one. We have real values and standards and know what a friend is all about and each of us would lay down their life for the other, that I know.
Born and raised in a small town in the panhandle of North Florida and I've traveled all over this great country talk to many people and they always ask me if I'm from Texas when they hear my accent😂 go figure
The number hours I've logged driving around listening to Charlie Robison over the past 20+ years are many... While the song's My Hometown & El Cerrito Place are the tunes he's best known for, it's his other music that always impacted me the most. RIP Charlie... RIP Charlie. You were one of the first Texas artists that I saw while in Austin. You've made your mark and will not be forgotten. Love, a Proud Native Texan 🙏💗
This is my first time hearing this song. I am a native Texan but no longer live there. This video shows many things I love and remember about the great state of Texas. This man was gifted and handsome! RIP.
so true, spent my entire childhood wanting to get as far away from my tiny little home town as I could. Took a job in Los Angeles right out of college, but 22 years later I retired to that same little small Texas town.
Man it Took me 26 years to get out of that damn town... I miss it now days.. growing up with them ole back roads and cotton fields! Now I have a wife and two kids 2890 miles away!! I'll definitely take my family to visit my Hometown 💪🏻
What a huge loss we had in loosing Charlie .. He will never be forgotten... This music matchs this video perfectly... It is a true work of American Art.. RIP Charlie.. Thank you for Your Contributions..
RIP to a bonafide, certified, country music legend. With confidence I say, there will never be another Charlie Robison. Enjoyed by millions, these songs are timeless and capture moments in American and Texas history for eternity. I’ll see ya in Heaven, if I ever get out that way.
Charlie’s music was the music I learned to dance to with the girl next door growing up. Thanks for the memories Charlie, you will be missed but not forgotten.

Heard this song for the first time many covered by a guy in key west and said it was by Charlie Robison. Sought out Charlie’s music on Spotify and was a fan ever since. Peace of the Lord be with you Charlie.
This song just drips of TX, and southern attitude…..or at least TX attitude. Love Charlie and his songs, wish your voice wasn’t taken from you, your songs are the soundtrack of my life almost!
Your mark on Texas will live on in the hearts of those who share your love for our beautiful state and its culture. Your music will continue to be part of our nights spent with family, sitting around the campfire, or 2-steppin on the patio. I hope you are now giving your New Hometown one hell of a comeback show!! We’ll see ya when we get out that way. RIP, Charlie.
Rip ol"Charlie Robinson. This..actually brought a tear to my eye and im a man who can take a stabing and laugh. I grew up listening to him here in Houston his home town (NW Houston , Cypress 290) in the 90s and early 2000s( barlight, my Home town plus many more), along side texan native Pat Green ("wave on wave" for reference). I used to go to a opry up north of Tomball (249) in Magnolia texas that he and Clint Black used to go to and sing at called the Magnolia Opey (now closed down and I miss the place even the moldy smelling carpet), funny enough when I was a kid going to that opry my grandfather used to play there and him and Clint Black would practice together, something even though I went there didn't know about until many years later. Now Charlie is dead, Pat is retired, Clint is retired and my grandfather is retired, its hell getting old. Hopefully Charlie can find the next barlight above.
I think it's cool that Charlie Robison was born and raised in my hometown. He included a bunch of shots from Bandera in the video. It makes me proud to be a Bandera Bulldog

Oklahoma as well! I know Oklahoma and Texas give each other a hard time but we are pretty much the same. Just normal folk that will stand up for themselves and their family no matter what. That’s one reason Texas red dirt music was so big in Oklahoma as well, all these guys can still sell out concerts here in Sooner country
I'm a South Carolina boy and damn proud of it, but no matter where you are from, Charlie's music was a gift from God and epitomizes Texas music. Thank you Charlie...RIP!
