  • Hello everyone, today I have made a video of me removing and refitting a front suspension strut on my Peugeot 407 SW. I have worked hard to make this video as I wanted to make a video covering every single step in this repair procedure, hence the length of the video is nearly 1 hour. I do believe that even someone who has never done it can watch my video and they will know how to do it as everything is well explained and fairly easy to remember. I really hope someone will find this video use full. Also please like a video if you appreciate my work making it.
    Also as promised this is a list of tools i used for this job:
    * Axle Stand
    * Car Jack
    * 13 mm, 16 mm, 18 mm, 19 mm, 24 mm and 35 mm sockets and Ratchet
    * 13 mm, 18mm, 19mm , 24 mm Spanners
    * T30 and T20 TORX Keys
    * All Joint Separator tool
    * Wiper arm puller tool
    * Flat screw driver
    * Small hammer
    * Brick 😅

    Excellently well filmed and very informative video for the average DIY mechanic to do the job. However as a professional mechanic myself, I was amazed by a couple of things I noticed as I watched your video. First thing I was surprised at was when you undid your Hub nut it seemed to be very loose as you used a relatively short bar. This Hub nut is ,or should be Torqued up to 255 lbft or 346nm, and is extremely tight and hard to remove. I normally use a heavy duty Air Impact gun, even this struggles, and I usually have to use a very long bar about 1 metre long with a 1inch sq drive on it, as often the half inch sq drive unless its hardened sheer off under the pressure. Also when you undid the 24mm nut at bottom of shock absorber again this looked very loose and seemed way to easy to undo again, as this is or should be torqued up to 148lbft or 200nm. So I was amazed it came undone with the little ratchet. Also another tip really , when you were undoing the wipers you used the little extractor tool, which was fine, however if you had squirted some WD40 or similar loosening agent on first they would have come off much easier, and another tip is when replacing them, its a good idea to smear a little bit of Copperslip grease or similar around the splines to ease future removal. Anyway I am owner of several Peugeout 407sw cars and know them inside out, and love your videos they are very well done.

      Thank you mate i really apreciate your comment. I am quite strong so usually its either something brakes or gets undone lol but ya i have come across some nuts i had to use a massive bar to undo.

    Nice videos as always! Very useful. I wanted to ask you if you could maybe do a video on parking sensors error. Physical, electronical, or maybe software approach would be greatly appreciated.

      On the car I am making a videos on at the moment I have front and rear parking sensors and it's faulty so it would be nice to fix it and make a video out of it.

      @@Mad4FrenchCars Same with me. But the fault on my car manifested during a simple error reset at the mechanic. He just did a reset to see if any errors will show up again, and the parking sensors stopped working. They didn't know how to fix it. So I'm thinking it could be something software related, if possible.

    Looks like a piece of piss ... It isn't.
    Just done this job on a suspension system that's done 145k miles and let me tell you I was ready to torch the car....it took HOURS just to remove the drop link, it was essentially welded to the strut tower.
    Heed my warning... Let someone else do this 😅

      Hi mate sorry to hear about a drop link. They can be a pain to remove I have same problems many times before, it's like anything else if it's rusted then it can give problem. I spray everything with wd40 before job if I see its rusted sometimes makes a big difference.
