It makes it more depressing that the ELECTRIC DODGE actually looks more like a charger than any of the V8s
That's because the 2006 Charger was actually called the Intrepid but at the last minute the marketing team changed the name to Charger because of all the changes they had made. The rest, as they say, is history.
Engine swap. Hellephant.
@@nightwolf9723 - Not sure why that story ever gained traction, there's no truth in that whatsoever. Dodge had already decided with it's 99' Charger concept that their next large 4-door production car would be named Charger. It's unfortunate that Daimler made the call to switch the upcoming Charger off the newly revised RWD LH architecture- as it was simply better in every way than what we ended up with. Thev engineers stress to this day that the car based on the 99 concept would've been over 850 lbs. lighter than the bloated LX. Yes at the time the HEMI V8's hadn't yet started development, but Dodge was originally going to go with aluminum OHC V8's derived from the new 4.7 V8 at the time. HP for the 4.7 RT concept was 325 but on natural gas- would've been higher on gasoline. Dodge was never carrying the Intrepid name forward after 2004, as they felt the name had gained a bad image after the slew of issues that they had with those cars.
This is nonsense
Don’t like EV’s
The way you present these vehicles is so consistent and thorough.

I think this looks really cool. It's the first EV that I could actually see myself driving, and I think the AWD and a hatch are both big pluses. My first car was a 1989 Mustang hatchback and I miss that versatility. I still need to keep something with a manual in the garage though, so until they address that I would still prioritize a gas car.
Your not driving this 😂

As far as electric vehicles go, this and the Rolls-Royce Spectre are proving you don't need to have an obvious looking EV design to build an EV. Excellent review as always!
And the BMW i7 too.
And the BMW i7 too.
That’s my biggest complaint about EVs. No need to make them look like they’re out of Tron
Yeah, most EVs look like they were only sculpted by the wind with very little artistic input by a human - cough - looking at you Mercedes! - cough -, but with some clever ingenuity, you can have artistic style AND aerodynamics with little compromise.
Only thing this is proving is that the world is coming to an end.. what an insult to muscle cars 👎🏾
I will be keeping my 19' Challenger Scat Pack Shaker with 20k miles and calling it a day. Better yet a long number of years.... Muscle cars are far and few in between. As of the modern day era in my eyes i only see Challengers and Chargers. This 2024 Charger SRT would be on a level of "Sporty Electric Car", Never shall it be called a "Muscle Car" PERIOD. Thanks for the review Raiti!
Amen!
Manual??
I concur. 😑
This would prob blow the doors off yours but I’m with you none the less …. Nothing like that ICE ripping through that exhaust
I’ll miss the sound but give me the performance and range any day.
Looks even better in red. Wonder what Dodge can cook up for a EV Durango to compete with Tesla Ford and Chevy EV SUVs
if they can make 1000hp with a nasty take off, they can leave it with the manufacturers
Tesla is in the process of being blown off the map!
Hopefully they got enough loan cars
The French will soon be shutting Dodge down within a few years, so this thing will probably never make production.
thanks J.R. for covering the wheel/tire size. 👍🤙 all the other reviewers there at SEMA are just glancing over that detail.
Awesome review joe! Thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos for us
You are the best Josh! Thanks for being so supportive!

I do like the style it has, however I think scalloped side panels would be a good idea for more of a classic tie in design
Would look nice, but works against aerodynamics for the ev
That red is *chef's kiss* ‐ definitely going to be keeping my eye on this one and see how they take care of those of us who won't have Banshee-level money. Hands down my favorite ev design, though I'd like to see a more standard rear seat (personal preference).
I love how the Charger is back as a 2 door, I haven't seen a 2-dr Charger on the market since the early 60s.
You are so very right Brian!
2 door chargers ran from 1966 to 1978. During that time there were 4 generations , 66-67,68-70,71-74 and 75 - 78.
I'm thinking we are being deceived about a 2 door Charger. Looking at the side profile with the very large rear side windows, that concept car may very well be a 4 door slightly modified to be disguised as a 2 door. Sure hope I am wrong.
Give an merge
Very slick video, I look forward to more!
I know this vehicle is catching (undue) hell, but I absolutely enjoy any and everything about vehicles -- especially new concepts, retro-rewinds (just saw the Black Ghost video from this channel... lookin' good, despite the zonks!), and this apparent EV switch. A pioneering switch that should have taken place decades ago... that we are living through today. Glad to see it all. 🔥
Something to think about though. Batteries are not "green". You have to mine tons of crap from the earth to get enough lithium for one battery. We can't do it here due to all the federal restrictions. And where the mining is done in China and Africa, child labor is used and exploited, and there is no "OSHA" in those places, so you can imagine the working conditions. There probably isn't nearly as much lithium on or in earth as there is petroleum, and ironically, the electricity to charge the batteries is produced by power plants fueled by coal and natural gas. There are some nuclear power plants also. Finally, our nation's power grids, the experts say, can't sustain nationwide charging stations in use. Wind and solar power won't cut it. The automakers are making a big mistake going so fast into EV manufacture.
@@MisterMikeTexas There's no way the industry will move beyond the ancient gas-driven, internal combustion technology unless a paradigm shift occurs in consumer attitudes. We can pick away for another 50 years with gas engines but that's not going to contribute to increased technology on the EV side of the equation that will ultimately lead to lower cost and a smaller carbon footprint.
This ain't it. Killing off what kept the Dodge name afloat. This could've been a side project with a redesign of the Charger, Challenger, Durango. I don't believe this is gonna go well. I could be wrong but true Mopar fans that I know are pissed
You got that right man
You might be, but the market is ravenous for EVs and many don't want a Tupperware looking car. People who otherwise wouldn't have looked twice at a charger will be all over this because it's a monster powerful EV that looks cool.
Keep in mind that EV orders are literally off the charts. At current rate, the F150 lightning has a 27 YEAR backlog. (Yeah it'll drop as production ramps but still, massive backlog) The Sierra EV sold its entire first year run in less than one day. The Silverado EV isn't far behind. The market is finally ready for EVs and many of us want fun, performance oriented EVs that don't look like a tesla or a prius. The Charger is it.
@@SweetLou0523 think it’ll be hard to get one?
@@SavageXBenjis You definitely have to set your preorder in day one if you expect to get one within a reasonable timeframe.
You do understand the global infrastructure has been going electric for decades right? Everything is going green, renewable and electric. Its a great idea and produces a better, cleaner product for the money. Times change, dodges soul won’t. Its as American as the transistor.
In a few years range and aerodynamics will no longer be an issue and all auto makers can go back to making beautiful cars like this! I’m looking at you EQS.
I see it different. I think the whole ev experiment is going to fail. Power grid. Scarce resources. Short of a battery or power revolution I just can't see how the whole market can be made ev. I own two bolts btw.
@@shanewilfon6860 yeah man this Push for EVS is a bit much look at California.
@@shanewilfon6860 I agree with you, its going to fail. For every EV that gets built, someone has to build a charger to charge it. Not everyone lives in a house. Dense populations that live in apartments that will slow to adopt chargers due to cost and inconvenience. Hybrids are the future (and plugins). Nobody needs 400 miles of range 95% of the time. Waste of battery material from one high-range EV that could have been used for more plugins. Quite honestly, Plugin Hybrids are the future and every manufacture who has the resources should be focusing on that. Think about it, some places still have lead pipes for water lol and here we think chargers will be implemented?
EQS might be efficient but in terms of aesthetics it’s a monstrosity.
People just assume the technology will automatically be there, and I’m not convinced it will. Range and aero are likely to always be issues until energy storage density improves quite a bit.
I agree. The front end screams 70 charger challenger.
Always looking forward to your videos, keep up the good work

I am glad that you are digging this one.
man, dream big and be optimistic. you gon get one the year they release it In-shaa Allah.
10 years nice, right in time to replace the 20k+ battery.
@@jesseobrien2641 you do realize that batteries last longer than that right? And now that EVs are being made at scale instead of small runs, that means batteries are much more widely available and will cost much less to refurbish/replace.
For example: My 2011 prius battery is perfectly fine even at 120k miles. The oem battery is nicad, and was $3500-5500. There is now aftermarket LiFEp04 batteries which are significantly better, and only cost $2000. Time and development drives down prices.
@@jesseobrien2641 batteries vary depending on the company,,, it’s no depend than getting a crate engine and swapping,,, and plus the top of the line battery’s are like 20k+ and those are from telsa majority of the time,,, most replacement batteries cost between 4k to 18k for low range to mid range
As always, Joe, you and Lori do a superb job! Stunningly clean, sleek design, lighting front and rear is phenomenal. Now if they could just put the Hellephant engine in it... I'm not buying into EV's yet, the electrical grid is incapable of supporting millions of cars plugged in to recharge and the specifications of energy storage technology - batteries - has a long way to go before it makes for a practical application.

The details they put in are insane!!!🔥🔥🔥
I like how they brought back the similar concept of the Dodge Demon and the Plymouth Duster in the 1970's for the side windows and doors.
I really want them to make a four door version. But I like the looks… they still gotta work on the “exhaust” though.
I like that they are making efforts to change the sound also that color is hard on that car I like it I'm going to miss the V8s though guess we all got to get with the times I guess
That is very true.
Electric cars shouldn't imitate how ICE cars sound. That is just next level stupidity. If you want a car that sounds like a v8 or any other ICE vehicle, you should get an ICE vehicle. Thats just wasted energy going to power external speakers, instead of powering the drivetrain. It also sounds terrible.

@Paul It's about the feel of a V8. EVs can't recreate that no matter how much you try. The EV nuts will buy some of them. But true gear heads won't
@Paul For some but not all. Ford just announced the Mustang will have a 5.0 V8. C8 Corvette, even bigger displacement. Most 1/2, 3/4, 1 ton pick ups, and large SUVs that are sold are V8s. They have 6cyl options for petrol but they don't sell well especially for work fleets. It's the demand that drives the market, not the supply. And most people don't want electric vehicles. So some companies have no choice but to bite the bullet on CAFE in order to to get vehicles to market people actually want/need
