you can feel pretty good about the fact johnny knows morrisseys words are stunningly brilliant and morrissey knows johnny's melodies are otherworldly.
The vocal melodies of The Smiths were all Morrissey's. Johnny Marr wrote the guitar parts, around which Andy Rourke wrote the bass lines (Johnny's post-Smiths bass lines are not a patch on Andy's).

I'd like to show a bit of love for the second guitarist. When Johnny sings, he only plays riffs intermittently or strums chords occasionally, yet those jangling guitar sounds just keep coming - courtesy of the second guy. Johnny is a maestro, but the other guy is the closest thing to it without the fame - I don't even know his name! (could look it up - I know)
That would be the guitar genius that is Doviak mate. Long time collaborator with mr Marr. He played with him in the healers too.
Look up their versions of There is a Light. Same. He’s very good…understated.
Doviak has been working with Marr since a very very long time and is a producer.
Very knowledgeable and wonderful musician.
Johnnys guitar is louder. You can hear the difference.
Say what you like about Morrissey , his lyrics are unique and were groundbreaking at the time.
At the time? His lyrics continue to inspire and no one compares.
He´s a jerk. Sorry, you said I could say what I´d like...
That’s true. He’s become a total right wing nut job. Some strange opinions and surprising political views.
I've never heard him say anything which couldn't be justified. Also it's obvious the press have done a hatchet job on him.
@@nickdryad Moz the last of the famous truth tellers.
The vocals are greeting great! Love to see this! Rock on Mr. Marr
本当に良い音。来日して欲しいな
Gacias Jhonny .buena cancion para recordar cuando los escuchaba en mis tiempos escolares.Bravooooo¡¡¡¡
Excellent! Thanks
Toujours aussi bon après plus de 30 ans!
Just saw him with the Killers in Atlanta. I had a BLAST!
Can't wait for Newcastle later in the month.
He was brilliant! Sung a few of the classic Smiths songs and a decent amount of solo stuff. Was quality. Enjoy
GOODDDDDDDDD
❤
BEtter when Marr plays the licks!
Absolutely. Morrissey is the singer
Minted 👍🏻❤️🔉🔉🔉🔉🔉
Это классно
My like's number 666 😮
the sing songy melody line unmistakably Morrisey's.
I've got a lot of time for Mr Marr. Seen him live several times and got a couple of his solo albums but it's odd. He only ever seems to come truly alive on the stage when he's singing Morrissey's lyrics. Go figure!
Well him and Morrissey co-wrote a lot of their lyrics
@@sam-fp1hy No they didn’t, Johnny only ever offered lyrical input one time and morrissey left the room, came back and sang it the way he had initially planned
@@bigblackdrummachine8250 You're right, I thought Johnny helped write lyrics because he would talk about writing Smiths songs in interviews but I realize now he just meant the riffs lol.
The fact I can see myself at the front is embarrassing
You look great David. Keep rocking!
Is that you there I thought I noticed you lol great night tho. ☺️
@@garytaylor6961 was honestly the best night of my life and got Johnnys guitar pick at the end
I’ve seen the Smiths I’ve seen Moz. I don’t know why I haven’t seen Marr🤷♀️. I need to get the finger out!! Pronto!
dude u played the intro wrong!!!!!!
he played some of it too fast
he changed it@@TheGalwayFarmer
F-*** just reform The Smiths.
Sorry, not Moz.
I know Johnny wrote the Melody and rhythm to those songs but those are Moz’s words.
Someone else doing them hit doesn’t hit right.
On the other side of that, anyone can play Johnny’s guitar parts (now that he’s written them) and I say this as a guitarist.
All you have to do is look at Morrissey’s released songs post Smiths and you can hear for yourself that it’s always been Moz.
Everyday is Like Sunday, Suedehead, The More You Ignore Me, You’re the One for Me Fatty, Irish Blood English Heart, First of the Gang…
Just so many great songs post The Smiths.
It is and always will be Moz and Johnny Marr is in a cover band. Sorry.
> "anyone can play Johnny’s guitar parts (now that he’s written them)" and anyone can sing Morrissey's lyrics (now that he's sung them). As for Morrissey's post-Smiths work, can you name one song that has as memorable guitar work as the best from The Smiths?
@@blahdelablah Yes, Irish Blood, English Heart. I am not saying Johnny is talentless, the opposite actually. He wrote (past tense) som amazing melodies. However,. he hasn't written any amazing melodies since has he? Yet Morrissey has written some great songs since the Smiths. `
@@danielktdoranie Irish Blood, English Heart is a decent song, but in terms of its guitar work it's not particularly imaginative.
@@blahdelablah that's your opinion, as guitarist I find the intro very good.
@@danielktdoranie I'm a guitarist too. It's a decent guitar part, but are you really suggesting it's anywhere near Marr's most iconic guitar lines? Music is subjective, but you seem to be ignoring that Marr's guitar playing was a big influence on a whole genre (indie rock) whereas what did Irish Blood, Engish Heart do in comparison? It's a decent song but not a groundbreaking one.
Wow, this is pretty much the worst of both worlds. You don't get to hear Johnny Marr play lead guitar and you don't get to hear Morrissey sing.
But you still get to be in the presence of a legend. Could be worse!
😂
