I have no source to back this up, but I suspect there is RNG seeding going on where the initial seed determines a starting point in RNG, and then every time something random happens it does a random roll then goes on to the next data point in the RNG. Therefor the exact same actions always have the exact same results in the same seed. I guess that a lot of the seemingly random actions such as opening spectral packs and not picking anything from them is to manipulate this.
Yeah, everything's determined by the seed in a sequential queue. Timing isn't important. When you open booster packs, it just pulls from that queue 1-1, __every time__. I opened that skipped Spectral pack to move the queue along farther, so I could copy my stone cards with Cryptid. (I noted that my strange divergence into Stone cards didn't really matter, but it still increased my deck size for my Blue Joker) When you draw cards, it draws the same ones, in the same order. (that's how The House basically didn't do anything difficult against routing) Since I knew this going in, routing the game casually was actually pretty fun. With libTAS you can just drop a savestate and immediately take back anything that doesn't work. (such as requiring The Sun for a faster Flush on The Pillar) You can savescum without using libTAS on Windows the same way-it's pretty dependable. There are tools that let you flat out see these queues such as mathisfun0.github.io/The-Soul/, but I didn't want to fuss around with them for this run.
It would totally be possible, just laborious with how this one was made. Some preliminary work was done to make a builtin Balatro bot/API that'd surely be easier to work with( github.com/besteon/balatrobot ), but, to my knowledge, it hasn't been updated to work with 1.0.1f. Its speed wasn't exactly top-notch either.
It's not on all blinds (E.G. 2:12 goes straight to the boss) but rest assured I tried to click on the blind as early as it was actionable. It's like there's a frame rule or something in place to prevent accidental blind selection. I wouldn't know and I'm not motivated to try and figure it out but if there was a successor to my TAS I imagine that's priority №1, assuming it is something that can be addressed.
It's certainly seen more success than any of my other content but for it to be truly notable in the Balatro community it'd need like a million more views lol To be honest it doesn't extremely deserve that much acknowledgement-a much more comprehensive/better TAS (imagine custom seeds? i just didn't want to bother with the endless potential personally) could almost certainly be created. Would've been cool to get thunk's reaction but it is what it is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fresh start of the game. Zero prior save file. (in fact libTAS doesn't write anything to storage) Get to Ante 8 and beat the boss blind. The Balatro speedrunning community requires further information to be shown afterwards for verification, but considering this category doesn't exist there, I didn't bother. I think the achievements counting up should be a valid enough indication. (you can always play the libTAS file yourself) TASes in general use some unique timing-the timer ends on the final input, not when the completion of the greater objective is solidified. That's why this video is titled 2:48 and not 2:54. (when the deck is fully reshuffled, per speedrun.com rules)
the point is to see what the lowest possible time could be. The same reason why people go for world records in anything. It doesn't matter if the activity itself is new or different, the point is the score. I don't get why this is so hard to understand, to be honest.
If you could use aim assist to play faster than anybody else in the world (who are also using it) i assure you that would be impressive and interesting to watch, you definitely can't though
@@carlangasa4622 if they do it to be faster than humanly possible then yeah it could be. if they just use it to boringly win like you would then sure, who cares, but that's not the same thing. just because they start with more tools to win doesn't mean it isn't interesting if they push things to the limit. but you can't tell the difference so L i guess lol

this is what it feels like watching balatro streamers as a beginner
Honorable mention to the "First hand is drawn face down" into random Flush at 1.37
Yeah that was a little annoying to orchestrate. Took a video and reversed it to see where things ended up when routing it.
The selection of cards as they're drawn and immediate play is satisfying af
click click clack clack
flip-flip-flip-flip-flip ddrrrringg dddrrrrring
And the run is already over
This is really cool, it's funny how much it slows down when a card is played.
really cool....956?
i am so glad TAS is compatible with this
I think I may be wrong but any single player game could be TAS compatible
@@CATGAMERFANCYTHE its a joke man
I literally held two WRs and I had to pause a few times to catch up on what happened so far.
Now do it skipless
Orbital being indeterminate is interesting. Thanks for posting.
Really appreciate you letting us see all the satisfying unlocks after the run ended
The sun into flush was so satisfying 1:59
3:25, fitting achievement
Good choice of Balatro to add to your RUclips deck, and nice pull on the negative Kitter
I love how utterly nonsensical these plays are at first glance. This kinda thing deserves a commentary.

The turbo rerolls made me lol
Would love to see more like this. Subscribed

I feel like I'm getting whiplash
would there ever be a way to do an all unlocks TAS? or would it be impossible to seed it?

So fast, it’s hard to tell what’s going on with it being a blur
whats up with the big pause at 1:35?
edit: just noticed that its on all blind selections

I don’t think you ever explain what toutorial% is anywhere.
I'm assuming it's ante 1-8 on a completely new save file?
There is a set seed that the tutorial uses. (All first runs use the TUTORIAL seed to determine rng)
New player here. Did this catch on in the community yet?

what are the rules of tutorial%?
Its just the seed "TUTORIAL" which is the first seed you play
