Man, I just started playing this game and it is so addictive. I didn't know the joker order mattered and was stuck trying to get my first win with the red deck. It made such a massive difference once I realized it - and it also makes the game feel deeper and more interesting. It makes you want to try all the possible mechanics and crazy combos and effects
The game explains jokers score left to right. The little card guy during the tutorial explains it and some of the boss binds flip your jokers so you have to order them as you watch the
Playing for over 100 hours I knew most of this stuff by now but I never realized that holding onto consumables blocks them from appearing! thats huge, thanks for that. And keep up the good work, I hope you make it big!
Not sure if this is on the other tip video, but you can adjust your hand sort type and use that info to make an educated guess at what a face down card could be!
Yeah, this is an awesome tip I was going to mention as well! Suit order is Spade, Heart, Club, Diamond (I believe that's correct). So, I would use that when certain cards are hidden and trying to make an educated guess on how to play a hand. You can simply toggle between Rank and Suit to see how things are being shuffled and make a better decision when being forced to play a hand using face down cards.
This was so helpful! My husband and I started playing yesterday and we're already hooked. Thanks for the tip.on the contrast cards and playing hands instead of discarding!
Got this from a friend who is trying to get me hooked on this game, as its on Sale on Steam. Thanks for the great tips and tricks. I hope your channel booms!
If there wasnt youtubers id be fully convinced this game is an anti gambling PSA. Gotten to the final round way too many times, multiple builds, always get screwed by RNG. I genuinely thought winning a round was a lie to express how real gambling works (keep betting with the promise of a victory that never comes.)
Thanks for the tips I'm still trying it out casually and the order of hands and the consumption block really opened my eyes to some tricks to use. Thanks for Beaning so informative. Happy holidays
Reading the deck saved me in my first win yesterday. Bought it and played 6.5 hrs for the first session ever and had a good synergy for spare pants and the two pair joke with a lot of duplicates in my deck. i had to be very picky about discarding the right rank to maximize the probability of drawing a two pair. Got down to the wire in parts but it shone through at the end!
@@TriggeredMonkey230 hours isnt even that many if he plays an hour of it every day its not even a year of playing it so thats not even bad for how long its been out idk why ur hating
IRT joker ordering, you can even move blueprint DURING the calculation so say you have blueprint > + chip > + multi, you can wait for the blueprint to activate on +chip then during animation move it over one space to the right to also activate on +multi for the same hand! This requires the game to be on 0.5x speed for practicality though.
This was very helpful, not to mention cleanly and concisely delivered, I’ll make sure to keep these in mind when I next get to play. Definitely earned a sub from me : )
The anti duplicate trick with planet and tarot cards is a new one for me, great advice. Hands as discards is an expansion of ditching cards in hands that score less than 5 cards, also useful information.
Incredible tips. I couldn't figure out the joker ordering thing, or blocking for the store. Discarding by playing hands has definitely turned into a way I play to get extra fake discards or to try to push the cards up towards higher levels or face cards by exhausting the lower cards. Looking forward to more videos!
I recently found out that if you have the "Four Fingers" joker (flushes and straights can be made with 4 cards) you can get a royal flush (or a straight flush) even if the cards either aren't quite consecutive and you only have four of the same suit. Hard to explain but basically say you have Ace, Queen, Jack, Ten, and a Nine, all spades except for one of them. As long as the Ace is a spade, it will count as a royal flush! Even though your four card straight isn't all spade, it takes in that Ace of spades to consideration so technically your hand has both a straight and a flush. I know my comment is pretty convoluted but I hope that makes sense.
I just grabbed this game about 2 months ago, I have it on switch and mobile. I beat the first 5 decks on both. AND THIS VIDEO WAS STILL INFORMATIVE! *Sub and notification for channel* 🥞
15 hours and still haven't beat the first blind (got to ante 8/8 a few times, but always fall short)... already knew a few of these things, but 100% I need to pay more attention to the order of jokers AND the hand before I tell it to play the hand. Great concise video, thanks.
I watched this video a couple days ago. Until then, I did not notice that there were +Mult and xMult as separate things. After acknowledging this simple mechanic, I've won my first game, then the next 3 games back to back to back. Insane!
A note on blocking with consumables: If you have a Showman in your current joker roster, blocking is thrown out the window. While Showman can get you duplicates of Jokers you have to appear in the shop, it will do the same with Tarots, Planets and Spectrals. In fact, you can open a pack and it will have duplicates sometimes if you have Showman.
Damn I’ve been hooked to this game for the past couple months and I knew nearly everything except multiplying cards score like the jokers from left to right. Hopefully this helps my next run!
I just want to join a large population of the comments and thank you for the tips. I got my first win because of your tip about the order of the Jokers. Thank you!
Thanks! Knew about the order of operations for Jokers but never even thought about re-arranging my hands or re-arranging mid-round for Blueprint and such. Also, wish I knew about the high-contrast setting earlier.
I just bought the game last night. I played 8 hours straight and feel like I have a pretty good handle on it already. But, within one minute of this video, I learned something with the Joker ordering. In retrospect, I should have picked up on this immediately lmao. It's almost comical how I didn't. But thank you for the tips!
I bought this on a whim on my steam deck when I was going to bed and played it for a hour and half in bed got up and grabbed something to eat and now I'm at my computer playing it at 4:30 in the morning man I've never been happier to be wrong about a game before.
I watch Real Civil Engineer, and he's just started playing this. He refers to playing a hand of "discards" as a "Cheeky discard." We've taken that term up in our house :D
the first tip with the order of jokers blew my mind🤯 not because of the math, but because I didn't realize there are + and x mults😅 I thought all of them are + mults and reached the conclusion that the order doesn't matter
I visited Disney World in 2001 I believe. I was 10, and my brother was 8. We loved alien encounters. We even got the big action figure. Pretty funny to hear it scared kids.
I never know if i should play the blinds or just skip to the boss, can u make a chapter about that in a future video maybe? Thanks! Great work super helpfull!
Good tips, I figured out joker ordering, but later than I'd like... well not ordering, but I didn't realize there were xMulti ones, I saw 1.5 multi and was like, "why would I want that" not realizing it was x1.5 Multi which is a big difference. I didn't realize glass cards were xMulti though less strong that xMulti jokers but better than I thought, I'll need to start plying with those.
Key note with the blocking! There is a joker (I think Ringman? Can’t remember the name) that removes the whole concept. Good for when you want to keep something in your slots for a joker but also want to find more of them.
One I’ll add is skip a few blinds in a run. I never used to check these or use them at all until I started trying staked runs. They can be very clutch but be careful if you have jokers that scale based on the cards you play or if your economy is low.
I've played Balatro a while and never really thought about blocking, I'll have to keep that in mind.👍 One minor thing that I'm not sure I agree with, why in the world would I want to block Flush planets? Flushes are MUCH easier to score than Straight Flushes, I use Flushes all the time and hardly ever use Straight Flushes unless I just happen to have built a deck around them. Not that I don't use Straight Flushes as well, just case I happen to be able to get one, but there's no way I'm passing up a Flush planet most of the time, it's way too useful.
Warning: Forbidden Knowledge Ahead. The Misprint card (the one with the fluctuating value) will briefly flash the card on the top of your deck in red text. For example, if the next card is a five of clubs, it will flash 5C. Aces are number 14, Kings 13, Hearts H, Spades S, you get the idea. Importantly, you can bring up the collection menu and look at the misprint in there to get the same information, meaning you will always be able to know the next card you’ll receive. This can be used to inform which cards you discard, and is particularly useful with the checkered deck (A deck that only contains spades and hearts), where, in the event you draw 4 of each suit, it can be used to always pick the right suit to discard.
I knew you could reorder jokers to have them trigger in different orders but I didn't realize there was +mult and xmult so I had no idea what the point was. I thought everything was +mult...
Oof…didn’t understand the last parts too well. The stuff about remaining deck flushes, blue whatsits, winning hands? And why Neptune’s? I’ve only made a straight flush once, so it seems pointless to level it up. Ugh, I’m really sleepy and my brain is rebelling against all the strategy being thrown at it.
