    This video came at a right time. I just started ground flax seed and beet root to see if it lowered my blood pressure. Along with eating better and exercising. Will report back in 30’days.

    Thanks Docs for the information and jokes.
    I have been taking ground flaxseeds for years as recommended by a Gastroenterologist to help my IBS. More recently I have been having a combination of ground flaxseeds, pumpkin and sunflower seeds.My LDL has been low for the past few years. I think my diet might have contributed to the low LDL.

    I buy whole flaxseed and grind it myself, some time with almond and pumpkinseeds. I only make enough for two or three days, and take a tablespoonful of this ground seeds with yogurt or on salads.

    I have 1-2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed almost everyday either in oatmeal or in a protein smoothie for heart health and to help lower my cholesterol.

    Thank you as always for the concise info.
    One suggestion, Dr. Zalzal's microphone was pointing over his shoulder away from his mouth. It made his speech a little muffled which might be a little harder to understand for people with degraded hearing.

    Four tablespoons a day for 12 years and it didnt lower my T. I grind my flaxseed before consuming in a blended vegetable drink.

    I don't care. I am a girl. Plus, flaxseed does not absorb well. You need flaxseed meal! It has lowered my systolic bp by almost 10 points.

      @@jonathanjohnson3846 The oil is more concentrated in the alpha-linolenic acid. Omega 3, and needs to be cold pressed organic. Organic Flax seeds may have more health benefits from the soluble fiber, vitamins, nutrients. If taking the flax seed, its better to buy the whole seed and grind it in small quantities. I buy the whole organic, store in the fridge, and use a coffee / spice grinder to grind enough for a couple days, and store in the fridge in a thick freezer bag. Once ground the meal starts to oxidize rapidly. Also if taking medications always check for drug interactions.

    I take flax seeds everey day; add them to my morning smoothy, and also sprinkle them over my meales (dinner)- an easy way to consume a couple of spoons a day. Paul, start taking them ;)

      Nope. We buy it already ground. But yes it needs to be ground.

    I use ground organic flaxseed as a part of my breakfast every day mainly to help get those fiber grams we need. When it comes to testosterone and prostate cancer, I'd refer you to University of Chicago's Dr. Edward Friedman who IMO is the best SME on the topic. His work in the field is extensive and he might be a good guest for you to have at some point.

    I eat it with my oatmeal every day and have for years. The only thing that seems to have lowered my libido are anti-seizure meds. A video on those would be most welcome.

    Thanks for the video. Right about a low fat diet can lower testosterone. I'm hearing more on YT about how we need more animal saturated fat for good testosterone levels. Also hearing that saturated fat does not cause heart disease and that high LDL is nothing to be concerned about in relation to bad cholesterol.

      So yes low fat diet. We would fundamentally disagree that saturated fat is good for you and that we need more animal fat. Simply not true or supported by scientific research but rather propagated by influencers who support the keto or carnivore diet and animal agriculture lobby groups. Don't be fooled

    Why didn't you mention that flaxseed lowers your blood pressure in this video? You made another video where you said it did and I am taking flexseed oil pills because of that. Oh, and my blood pressure has lowered ... though I can only guess it is due to flaxseed.

    I add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed to my morning oatmeal. My husband is being treated for heart failure. His cardiologist told him to stop the flaxseed because it lowers blood pressure.

    Hi Docs I know it's not today's topic I could really do with your advice I had my tibia fibia weber c operation 23rd March since having that done the day after I started having the most painful debilitating excruciating pain in my thigh I wondering if it's nerve related I feel it come on in tingling feeling then it explodes into the most pain I've ever experienced the numbers that iwas given are not answering in orthopaedic and if leaving a message they are not getting back to me I just don't know what to do 😢 thankyou in advance Janet Jones

      Sorry to hear this. It is hard t say but could be nerve pain. Could be from the tourniquet that they likely used during the operation. Less likely a complication related to a spinal anesthetic or nerve block. It will likely resolve with time but if concerned walk in clinic, ER or your GP. Best of luck

    I've gotten the actual flaxseed and ground them myself. Is there any advantage of doing this? The ground flaxseed can be added to food you prepare and the other is just a pill that you take.
    A lot of places with bulk food have the flaxseed you can grind. It's easily used in cooking or baking or even mixed in drinks.
    Are pills as effective? Or does it matter?
    There's some great benefits from ingesting flaxseed!

      I was told we are to eat ground flax seed because our bodies can not digest the whole flax seed. Thus it just passes through our intestines undigested and we don’t get all the benefits of it.

      We have some videos coming out about this. Short answer is lose weight if heavy , HIIT or resistance training, get good sleep , reduce stress where possible, and limit alcohol. Consider TRT if measured levels are low

    You want a reason to avoid or at least limit intake of flax seed = Hydrocyanic acid!
    Since the good doctors didn't mention this, I wonder if it's because they didn't know about it? 🤔😉

      There is no reliable evidence that the amount of cyanide in flax seed can get to a toxic level in humans even with exaggerated consumption. Studies have tested this

      But in short, the FDA in Europe seems to disagree with your assessment and warns about consuming more than 25grams a day of flaxseed. And that's equal to 2,5 tablespoon. Just thought your audience/viewers might like to know! 😉

    Hello gentlemen, I eat all the seeds you chaps have recommended . I am 81 it is a miracle i feel good I whistle constantly I no longer have sex, woman find my obsession with seeds disturbing, there are more reasons of course like the recent inabilty to have an erection.     Can you have a neurosurgeon discuss adults with encephalomalacia and gliosis sometime? I know there is no cure & can’t be reversed, but I heard there is a surgery that can be done if they find the underlying cause or even something to the softening tissue. I’m assuming to help symptoms or prolong life? Idk. And my neurologist is just focused on my encephalomalacia and sending me to a Neuropsychologist (I was like I see a psychiatrist. She said they are not regular psychologists & that they treat people with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, Parkinson’s and so forth). But I have other brain issues that I’ve had surgery for. It’s a long story.

    My man-boobs are a pretty good sign of low-t. But my cardiologist has recommended against supplemental testosterone because of possible cardiac side effects. So I’ll just have to get used to the guys whistling at me on the street (obviously kidding about the last sentence, but the rest is true)

    The way I see it, the extra fat in guys’ beer bellies kills their testosterone more so than anything else they can eat 😂

      Carrying extra weight certainly is something that leads to lower T

      @@TalkingWithDocs On a related subject - most men suffering from mild Gynecomastia (aka man boob) should also look into if obesity is contributing to the condition, instead of taking the easy routes of blaming soy or plastic food containers. Men who are afraid of elevated estrogen levels should see excess fat as their #1 enemy.
