    OMG....you just answered many questions I have struggled with over many years! I have even fought with a doctor that cut my testerone in half (HRT @ 80 years old) and I really struggled with every symptom you listed as a result....she would not believe me that it was accelerating my ageing.......finaly I talked with my compounding pharmacist and he spoke up for me and we got it reinstated !!! I now feel normal and confident that my strength is returning and I can take care of myself again!! The testing standards that doctors rely upon must not be relied upon as a standard for all......SYMPTOMS MATTER!!

    Hi, I was just recently started on HRT with vaginal estradiol. My uro-gyn had my hormones lab tested and while my estrogen and progesterone were at 0, my testosterone was at 120. I don't have facial acne or facial hair, but i'm very concerned. My Dr. sent a new script into the lab to have a hormone cream of only estrogen and progest. 3 yrs ago, I was a type 2 diabetic - but reversed that with diet/exercise. I am 68 y.o. Ty for your great video on this topic. If you see this, and have any advice for me - i'd truly welcome it.

    Dear Steve - my gynecologist, who is very reluctant to prescribe testosterone (I’m on estradiol and progesterone already), told me she’d prescribe the lowest dose, which is 0.5 mg per gram, and I’m to apply half a cc daily to inner thigh. (This would be a compounded product.) She didn’t mention doing a blood test for my baseline testosterone, just said she’d want to check my cholesterol levels after 3-6 months of the T treatment. (My current cholesterol levels are actually good.) I was wondering, if you could tell me whether the testosterone dose she’d prescribe is typical/reasonable dose for women? I’m trying to assess whether she’s knowledgeable enough about testosterone treatment for women, and thought that you as a compounding pharmacist could tell me what dose is commonly prescribed for women. • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 года назад +3

      DHEA’s most common side effect is acne. I started taking 50MG, which is a moderate dose for men, and it made my forehead break out. So I take a lower dose - 25MG.

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 года назад +6

      I might also add that oral DHEA capsules MIGHT help with low estradiol and testosterone, based on the fact that DHEA can be converted to those. Does just the fisical appearance of sode effects matter? Hiw do you actually know hiw much supplementation would be too much to shift for example the brain reward system and make it less efficient) testosteron is also a reward system or am I wrong? (and is there a proven explanation that can make it evident what the environmental factors are for just lower levels in female testosterone? Could lower testosterone just be the signs that a population is just in a chill state, and not so much in a fiscally readynes... Because evolutionary higher blood pressure more blood sugars, more anabolic state(also ESPECIALLY in women associated with cancer even in fisiological amounts) more muscle tone, growth of tissues (like vocal cords, organs, ect... Associated with beeing less attractive in women by the way... Men are more attracted to juvenile traits... Neotony, right? Females that probably hormonally retain more juvenile traits, tend to reprodice more... Less body hair, ect..) So why actually triggering genes with hormones that make women less attractive and are associated with health riscs... Why would you trigger something that the body is not triggering by itself? Women with higher testosterone live less... I just don't get it...

    Thank you Doctor for your video.
    We know that a man/woman need both testosterone AND estrogen, but why do we hear sometimes that men should have 0 estrogen ? We hear so much in society that testosterone is powerful, that it almost feels like estrogen is despised and is associated with being a crybaby versus testosterone with being courageous, agressive, assertive, emotionless (all which are powerful traits in our society). It seems a woman with higher testosterone than normal is ok, but a man with higher estrogen is depicted as not a ''real man'' which I find stupid.
    What about Estrogen Levels in Men ?

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching and for that great question! The topic of estrogen in men is quite controversial. Testosterone in men is naturally converted into an estrogen (estradiol) to varying degrees. Some providers want men to take a drug (it's called an "aromatase inhibitor") that prevents testosterone from being converted into estradiol and keeps estradiol levels low. Although these drugs do have their place and some situations may require them, the providers I work with generally try not to prescribe aromatase inhibitors. That's because the medical research shows that estradiol has some real benefits in men. You're right in saying, ". . . a man/woman need both testosterone and estrogen." But not everyone agrees with that statement.

      I started taking testerone ,and then i started taking aromatase inhibitor to bottom down my estrogen,i regreted it,but soon i realised i made a mistake,my libido went down drastically,cant maintain erections,and when i stopped AI ,my libido went back to normal,but when i started reseaching about hormones,i started experimenting with myself ,i started microdosing oral estradial and progrsterone along with testerone,my libido went above normal(at the right dose),i can maintain prolong hard erection,and i have been doing for the past couple of years,the down side is i developed a pea size gyno,which is not really visible and it doesnt bother me,and its same for the last two years,but my libido is always through the roof,better moods and i feel so good,unlike i was feeling sh**y when i was taking A.I.
      I have met many men who had killed their estrogen because of bodybuilding and their sex drive was non existant and had weaker erections(A.i. was the culprit)
      So the ratio of testerone estrogen and progesterone matters a lot both in men and women
      So the take away

    I was prescribed testosterone for low libido
    In a gel.
    And I’m on hrt estridial patch and micronize progesterone.
    And I feel so much better. Although I have been spotting at five months on HRT treatment and now at seven months I have a full on bleeding like a regular period going a second day.
    I’m on 0.05 estradiol
    100 mg of micronize progesterone
    A pea size fell Testosterone gel.
    I need to see my Doctor.
    But my question to you is:
    What do you think is causing my spotting and now I’m having a period at 60 yrs. Old?

      I would suggest looking for a hormone optimization specialist who can help you figure out the root problem underneath that high testosterone. A hormone specialist will assess many different blood levels and symptoms and figure out what's really going on. Then they'll help to optimize all your hormones to relieve those masculinization symptoms and reduce your health risks at the same time. simplehormones.com/referral

      As the video points out, testosterone levels are a bit complex. A woman injecting testosterone for fitness brings in even more complexity. You’d definitely need a hormone optimization provider’s guidance.

    how are you lowering T levels in women?

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 года назад +2

      That depends on the reason T levels are high. So in PCOS, there are 2 major root issues that lead to high androgen levels: insulin resistance and sub-optimal thyroid. Tackling both of those issues can reduce high testosterone in those women, along with reversing anovulation due to high testosterone. In women taking testosterone who end up with too high T levels, the (somewhat obvious but not always straightforward) solution is to reduce the dose of testosterone they take. This may especially be tricky in patients with a subcutaneous pellet that needs to be removed. If high T levels are caused by adrenal tumors - well that’s a major problem that definitely needs to be addressed.

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 года назад +1

      As I mentioned in the video (did you watch it?) the optimal level of testosterone depends on a lot of factors. There’s no single number to shoot for. It depends on the lab you go to, your SHBG level, and your symptoms. The most important thing is getting a provider who knows what they’re doing with testosterone.

    • @SimpleHormones
      @SimpleHormones  2 года назад

      Hysterectomy is sometimes necessary, but think of it as an absolute last resort. There are several possible reasons for high testosterone, including some serious ones. The most likely ones include insulin resistance, which causes PCOS. Sounds like you’d benefit from seeing a hormone provider with experience.

    after watching a bazillion of these videos, i have come to a conclusion that i am fvcked. Im trying to figure out if i have low or high T but it seems like the symptoms for both are so similar. All i know is that i have acne on my chin, especially on the right side, i bloat a lot, my hair falls more than normal, and i stopped taking birthcontrol pills about 4 months ago (i was on it for 13 years). i am 30 yrs old, 5’7 tall and 110lbs. I’ve tried ketodiet, fasting, vegetarian, low carb, high carb, no gluten/ dairy. Nothing worked, i still bloat and have so much acne. i hate that i can’t afford getting a bloodwork :(

      Low motivation is a key symptom of low testosterone, so if you have zero motivation/drive, (despite being interested in accomplishing certain things you just never seem to be able to whip up enough enthusiasm or "will" to do it), that's a huge red flag. Unlike with depression, which makes you lose interest in doing things you used to enjoy, low T doesn't take away the interest, it just takes away the motivation or "get up and go". You've got the interest and energy, you just lack the focus and motivation/drive to actually get to it.
