I'm a massive dork and during the second time I watched Titane I counted the number of speaking lines Rousselle had the entire film. 21. That's it. She is so captivating with her looks and appearance that it hides her "lack of experience". It's my #1 film of the year.

If you guys liked Vincent Lindon in this, I'd highly recommend watching The Measure of a Man. He won Best Actor at Cannes for it, and it's completely deserved.

One other pretty neat thing; her (real) dad is played by Bertrand Bonnello, director of Nocturama and a bunch of other incredible modern french films

Ducornau has this thing where she reuses character names. Garance Marillier has starred in all of her films so far - including her debut short from 2011, Junior, which is on RUclips - and she always plays a character named Justine. Agathe Rousselle's character name in Titane is named Alexia (the name of Justine's sister in Raw) and for the second half of the film she goes by Adrien (the name of Justine's gay roommate/boyfriend from Raw). I believe she's commented on it saying she just doesn't like to let go of projects once they're done, and so one way she has of holding on to them is to reuse the same names and motifs over and over. It's nothing too deep, but it's interesting nontheless.

Interesting. Reminds me a bit of Michael Haneke in the way he reuses names, though for him it's more the idea that the names are arbitrary

I enjoyed this movie even in the scenes that'll make you uncomfortable in this movie (which to quote William Bibbiani is what think this genre is supposed to do), and it is captivating how much both Rousselle and Landon convey emotionally without using words. I personally enjoyed Ducournau's first film Raw more because of the themes it touches on and how the characters are more relatable, but I do understand how this film won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

I didn’t find it boring. Things happened at least and it got a reaction at least from me (like thank god I’m not from France lol) It’s both interesting and silly to watch though. I feel like the director had scenes in her head that she liked and made a movie around it. She didn’t even try to connect her story. It’s the type of movie that gets complicated movie reviews that one takes seriously. It was ok
