A lot of people I know and respect and trust love this Keyhole garden thing. My only question is when you we the compost in the center, does it really bring the nutrients all the way to the edge of the garden or do the nutrients stay near the center. Wouldn't the dirt filter out the compost nutrients and only allow the water to travel to the garden edges?
I've heard of keyhole gardens before from researching permaculture, but I have never seen them put a little compost area in there. That is a great idea! I may have to build one of these. I have an herb spiral right in front of my house and I just used cardboard on the bottom and the bermuda has made it's way through it :(
I enjoyed this video, thank you! I also love the concept of using what you have to make this garden but the lawns in our community have all been treated with pesticides and weed killer ~can you recommend a substitute for the lawn clippings? Thanks 😀
Thanks for watching, we are glad you enjoyed it! You can use really any organic matter in place of yard trimmings (leaves, straw, etc.) that can be broken down to add to the nutrient content of your soil.
OklahomaGardening that sounds good, thank you. This seems to be a fairly new concept here in Florida (at least where I live) so I am glad that I will be passing on this knowledge to others.
Lawn clippings just has the higher nitrogen ratio or "green" part of the compost pile, so anything that fits that category is fine, including more of of your kitchen veggie scraps.
Fantastic Keyhole garden. 1:34 such an amazing simple bed.
Great video, thank you
+Petals on the Paving Slabs Thanks for stopping by!

I think the idea is that it will attract earthworms that will come in and out and spread the nutrients.
This wasn’t brought to African it originated in Africa due to their challenges with the soil, ingenuity.

I'm wondering if the exposed compost pile attracts pests.
Did the Bermuda grass make its way to the top in this garden to did it smother it??
Great to hear that you are standing up for your rights not to be vacinated
Interesting, I thought the Keyhole Garden came from Africa.
it did. It originated in lesotho.
Yup, contrary to what was stated in the beginning of the video, it has its origin in Africa. #misinformation
