When I was about 5, my father, a WWII USCG Chief, taught me how to save my own life by tying a one handed bowline, in a man overboard drill. With that skill I won many Boy Scout knot tying contests in the 1960s. Later, I taught it to my Scouts and most contests were won by one of them. I'll have to teach more people. Good Luck, Rick
