There is no excuse for them not bringing this system back at all.
Laziness most likely. Creating so many unique items and styles for each character in the roster actually sounds like a tedious grind.
On top of that you have deadlines to meet for development and release. I'm no developer, but it does sound like a lot of work. Still.....that's no excuse.
They've set a precedent with T6 customizations, they gotta keep upping the ante with each new game otherwise it will create dissapointment.

They don’t need to up it at all. We all would be satisfied with T6 being brought over to T7 and after that just update it with small new outfits. It doesn’t have to be anything big or over the top
Which is why they should stop bloating up the roster.
Character bloating is no excuse for Namco's lack of effort of customization mode in Tekken 7. Tekken 6 had 40 characters and Tag 2 had over 50 characters, yet their customization mode was amazing.
Not Tag 2's.
T6 customisation was the best in the series by far. 10 years later and to this day no other Tekken game comes close. Shame, because the games have improved in pretty much every other aspect.
They removed win poses thus killed personality of the chars....

Well, tekken 6 on ps3, not on older platforms
It was kinda fun as well to grind money on T6 because items were expensive but rewarding in appearance, and many different items to buy, so money really had a purpose

So easy to get money though, just one trip of online co-op and you're rich. Did this multiple times a day with different people and characters. Back when Playstation Home was a thing a few people would out in the Tekken 6 area (no other fighting game had this in PS Home), it was pretty awesome.
Plus you can sell items, which on its own kinda makes it worth it to really just grind and grind some more, there’s never a moment where you’re just like “well great, now I have a piece of equipment that I’ll never use when customizing my characters ever” because if you have a problem with it or you simply don’t want to use it, go ahead and sell it so you can get something cooler, but it’ll still always be an option in case you change your mind

Tekken 7 should have a mixure of 6 & Tag customizations, but instead we get the crap that it is now. It's like the went backwards from T6 on.
I wouldn't mind if Tekken 7 had far more strict customization if THE ITEMS WERE UNIQUE TO ALL CHARACTERS. Having even a handful items exclusive to characters whom they are modelled for instead of hundreds of items that don't fit the characters at all would be a trade-off i'd be willing to make, especially with the ridiculous customization you can do with 7 where for instance you can be dressed as a gay hooker slapping people with wands. Weird how when it comes to wanting to make your characters look cool leaves you with only a few items that barely go together, yet if you want to dress stupidly......TONS of options. I hope this isn't intentional, but it is very likely that it is.
I miss feng's customization where he had the monk head(which is still here now) but in t6 when you would hit certain moves like b1 on counter hit d1+2,2,1 his head would shine white and make a sound like he was some god monk and it was amazing

something i liked in tag 2 was the decal options, why? it allowed us to express our creativity, you know what i mean? and in tag 2 at least they make the color palette where you can change the hue and saturation if tekken 7 had these options it would be so much better. tekken 7 color palette is broken and boring 🗿

Yeah tekken 6 in ps3 or xbox but in psp is so shit, im buying this tekken 6 tomorrow for my ps3 hopefully i get the things i was hoping for

Tekken 6 was so amazing in customization, I was so disappointed with TTT2/T7 customization.
Decal customization was so cool in tag2. Tag 2 had pretty good customization
Decals are what made Tekken Tag 2's customization great, as well as having a vibrant color scheme. You could change its hue and saturation.

For T7 i was told by a forum mod for unreal engine, that the tekken team switching over to unreal plus having a much smaller budget is probably part of the reason they went with the simplified customation.
(Well simplified the game overall actually in terms of content)
I just hope that for tekken 8 bandai gives a team a much better budget and we can get an improvement upon what tekken 6 offered.

@@kingpotato7183it's even worse now in some ways, you can't even mix & match the default outfits
and that's not even including the front-back-side-base hair options. Add that in and there's even more you can do. Tag 2 at least had that but if I remember correctly, not as many options? but then they completely removed it in tekken 7 only options for certain hair styles.
If only the psp had as deep costumization as the consoles did but they had the hair base stuff too but still impresive for an old game.
Aura colors and types were first introduced in T6 and hair styles sadly in TTT2 and T7 don't have that kind of specific systems anymore.

In Tag 2 and T7 the only thing I wanted..the ONLY THING I WANTED...was to change the glove color on Devil Jin with items

Namco got lazy af with customization. I agree Tmm with u on a lot of things u say about the game. U r a boss bro.
I love how Jin’s armored gloves mixes with long sleeved jackets. The armor along the arm is hidden and leaves the studded gloves like in his CG cutscene biker outfit and that was really dope.
I loved that too. Because of this, I was able to recreate his complete biker outfit from the arcade intro, in fact, I think he had the biker version of his gloves available in customization which of course made it easier to do so.
@@Anw4rr10r YES! That's exactly what inspired me to customize Jin like that, because of the intro.
Personally, I'm giving them a pass on T7 because it's a new engine and porting over assets doesn't seem easy. The next Tekken game I expect better especially with how well T7 sold.
Underrated comment.
T7 may fall short in a couple of feature departments, compared to previous titles.
Can't overlook that it's their first go at Unreal 4, a relatively new engine in the market.
If anything, we're blessed the game functions and plays as well as it does.
The future.
If I'm not mistaken, the most they have to rebuild (when porting items) is the code, as the model already exist. Not to mention they would have to update said model, so that it would have better resolution.
I can still see how people find it inexcusable that items didn't appear in the newer game, as many older games came out with a lot of items (not including DLC).
But I find the problem is not laziness, or whatever the other accusations are, but rather developers mass-producing games (most likely due to deadlines made by the publisher). By looking at older games, many of them were actually pretty good, sure most of them haven't aged well, but they were still given a decent amount of time to be made.
Publishers need to give their game devs time to create good content, and stop relying on patches/DLC's.

@@1Diddums Ah yes the gameplay, sfv had great gameplay but guess what ? *IT HAD NO FUCKING CONTENT FOR SINGLE PLAYERS*
The only down sides were that even though it was all split up into different body categories, each had a very limited selection of items. And some characters didn't have certain categories that others did.
For instance, some characters didn't have an "inner" category for shirts and others had only like one or two items for say....belts or waist.
Also some had a gloves options while others didn't.
Not to mention you couldn't create your own colors and shades like in TTT2 and T7. Those are the only cons I find with it, other than that T6 still holds the crown in the customizations department.
T7 has horrible color customization, none of the colors are correct.
I loved my Lee customization, made him look similar to Hwoarang's soldier costume in Tekken 4, now in Tekken 7 only the suits fit him properly.
Tekken 7's gameplay is fantastic, we were super excited for the port from Arcade to PC/console and they literally just dropped all their standards, I can remember how excited you were about the treasure mode, nice potential, loved the bosses, but practically no decent customs, money became irrelevant after a day, no fucks given. Tekken 7 to me is the worst port from Arcade to home platforms in history, everything bar the actual game itself is so bad, they couldn't even add more magic to the bowling.

TBF to Harada people did ask for the game modes, but if you are going to make it DLC make it relevant in some way, jazz it up, make the game mode give more unqiue gear and customs that can translate to online. Nobody wants bowling pin customs, HARADA!

This is how you know T7 needs to step it up, but offline content being a joke in T7 is an ongoing theme.

Season 3 DLC should focus on overhauling the customization and maybe add one/two new characters.
Meanwhile in tekken 7 ever male character has pretty much the same huge upper body so all the "great looking" tshirts kind of fit them. Amazing.

In Tekken 6 I remember making Lars look like Cloud Strife since he had similar hair & shades lol.
Yoshimitsu was the coolest in this game. Being a skeleton with arrows sticking out of him completely charred black was a crazy look.
Next do a video on Scenario Campaign, I miss it every day. Nothing felt better than having a sick customization that also had an awesome stat for scenario campaign.
I remember there being glasses that allowed Kazuya to use his eye laser using u1+2
He won't be saying that "less is more" once Kazuya gets removed in T8/T9 😂

I don't understand why it couldn't just be "ported"/transferred over when they were developing T7. The only thing I can think of is that someone else developed this aspect of T6 and "owned" it. So they couldn't re-use it? Or maybe it's cuz of the number of characters they had planned for T7?
Wow this is beyond amazing! Wish the developers at Namco weren't so stingy on that aspect. I remember eagerly going into the customization mode for the first time and getting annoyed at the lack of variety and originality of the items. Here's hoping it'll improve. But...
Loved how u could replicate Heihachi's tiger Mishima Zaibatsu costume from Tekken 4. Fantastic

Good stuff. I just bought tekken 6 right after TTT2 and Tekken 7 back in February, and one of the reasons why, was the games deep customization.

I need a season pack 3 where it mainly focuses on costumization and items also animation on win pose and intro. Maybe a story patch maybe? where they add another episodes and a full ending for the characters.

Tekken 6 .was the best to me I love how you can have a charater model on the stage as the main menu..the single player is sooo much fun
One of the biggest reasons I kept playing Tekken 6. It was really fun making characters look like characters from other games. I also miss some costumes, like Kazuya's purple military costume.
With that customization I would do heihachi outfit from Tekken 3 with that wide pants :D
Also, any idea what good are the items that gives you bounds during chains? The "A" and "S" items can give your character 1 or 2 bounds during chains, but I don't know what for? Someone please explain that to me.

There are soooo many unique items to buy in the shop, and money *always* had a purpose, unlike in Tekken 7 where money gets useless too quick...
I sincerely hope Tekken 8 takes notes from T6 in terms of customization.

@@reynaldigutierrez999 In TTT2 you have 1 upper body slot, so you can't have a tank top or a t-shirt and put a jacket or coat over it. You can do that in T6 because you have 2 layers for upper body, so you have much more control over what you want to wear.
That alone makes T6's customization the best in the series, because no other Tekken game had it.
Plus there are much more unique pieces per character in T6 customization.
If this was carried over to Tag 2, I feel like Tag 2 would have the best customization
Same here I been saying this for the longest. Tekken 6's unique character clothing customizations options with ttt2's decal system would've been the best customization system for any fighting game in general not just tekken.
@@scotthayeswwe yeah i've been working on a project for the rpcs3, it's not going great but im sure a beta release would be fine, it removes the decal limitations and adds separate clothing it's a bit unstable but i'd like too see more stuff about it.

Is it difficult to make more custom clothing items? Because I see plenty of mods make it possible. What’s the difference between adding new stuff by mod than dlc?
I usually get customization items that increases the item drop rate or fight money it helps me get fight money and treasure chest easily and I farm this on heihachi's stage
They've improved in some aspects however cut out some features I love the customization in Tekken 7 but I do miss being able to edit hands and feet as well the ability to make your own hair styles

Tekken 6 you could obviously tell they poured so much effort into this game. the customization was amazing. every character had costumes that was made ONLY for them. another small note is that every single character had dialogue in the campaign for every single mission. so much time and effort put into t6.
now look at tekken 8 and its ingame shop costumes that doesnt even has parts but is full body only....
Also in jin if you put face tattoo you could do with up 1,2 laser in the sky it wasnt something strong but it was cool and could counter d jin when he was in the air
Not sure I want more characters in Season 3, or new mecanisms like Season 2 because my memory start to explose !

Devil jin had crazy unique items.
And to think this is only like 10% of what you could actually get for items, hairstyles, auras etc yet they dont release dlc for this but instead for bikinis
So they could plug in Kazuya's T6 gangster outfit but not the other items. Why.

In 6 Tekken Games (Tekken 5, Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection Online, Tekken 6, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Tekken Revolution, Tekken 7), Customizations has appeared, I must to change the her both clothes is all colored, her hat, her headband, her hairpin is all colored, her Shoes ia all colores, her glasses, her hair is all colored, her items, her Aura or Ki like in Arcade Battle / Ghost Battle, I'll take a photo of both Xiaoyu's Customizations so i don't forget.
Cmon harada.. We slick went backwards in some aspects of T7..and customizations are the main gripe!

the decal option is something i want back, i know tekken 7 is made with a new engine so its hard for them to add the old customizations, i think it could explain why the colors are broken?

The things that were a pain about T6 customize was acquiring Rage, auras removing customs, and too expensive. Other than that, the best overall.

Aside the customization Tekken 6 had great character models(except Jin and his huge hands) just a little look at Lili Leo alisa and law. in Tekken 7 lili looks like a different person. marshal law looks more like forest law
