Griogair Labhruidh performing the aisling (dream vision) song from the epic folk tale, Deirdre of the Sorrows accompanied by master fiddler, Gabe McVarish.
Deirdre in the house. Thank you for the ode to my namesake. Love her love her story. Have lived as The Lady Deirdre, The lady of Sorrows my whole life. I and many other traditional Deirdre’s carry our name with awe and inspiration in our crazy scary world. I believe we are the warriors for Truth! Thank you for this blessing of telling our story with Grace, love, poetry, and remembrance.
Griogair, you are an inspiration to people like me - American musicians in love with traditional Celtic music, who also have Celtic heritage, but (sadly) zero remaining connection to Celtic places or languages in our families. People like you give me hope that these cultural treasures, music, and languages will, after all, survive.
So beautiful. To borrow from Griogair, "it awoke something within me" and I've become quite a fan. I'd love to see a suite of traditional Gaelic songs, lyrics, stories, even children's books. Huge opportunities to spread the word.
I could listen to his voice all day long l love the fluent gaelic the voice of the ancestors so much of the language is lost and will never get it back not many people speak this accent language anymore which is so sad for the heritage is rich and accent very little has been preserved like this bring back the gaels in school we might have a fighting chance to teach our native language
Yep. you can only sing at the same time if you play bellows-driven pipes. They also need a lot less air pressure than the big pipes. If you want to know more about the history of the pipes, Prof Hugh Cheape has done some good research on that.
I LOVE to hear fluent spoken Gaelic. Superb song as well.
I've never heard anyone speaking Gaelic this fluent what an amazing dude 😳

I love his Irish and the overall presentation. So important these traditions remain. Maith sibh!
He's speaking Scottish Gaelic, not Irish.
@@rossmclaren9886 you’re right Ross! Gosh, I’m embarrassed and thx for communicating that to me.
Прекрасне виконання. Просто пронизує до кісток. Дякую

Love the language and songs
Beautiful indeed! Is there an album where this is on?
That looks like a set of Northumbrian pipes rather than the Traditional Scottish highland pipes.
