A police officer went above and beyond the call of duty when he rescued a 2-year-old boy who was left in a car after his mother allegedly crashed into a fire hydrant and fled. LAPD officer John Neal Cooke told Inside Edition: "The mom did a monstrous thing in abandoning her child." Police say the boy's mother, Elizabeth Robles, crashed into the hydrant, sending a geyser of water into the sky. Cops arrested the mom who they found two hours later, authorities say she had been drinking. #InsideEdition
The officer took that baby like it was second nature to him.
Ik it was so sweet
$5 says he's a dad or at least an uncle.
And also baby reached out to him as if he was saying help me I am small and helpless
It's
He sure did. That baby knew exactly who to reach out to!
Wait, so you’re telling me that not only did she abandon her child after crashing, but she was ALSO drunk beforehand with a baby in the car?! What the hell.
Potato Goddess i know have dumb people can be
Somehow... it would've been even worse had she been sober when deciding to bolt and abandon her child in that situation.
@@echinaceapurpurea1234 or the child could have been killed because of the accident, but he wasn't...thank God!!! The angels up in Heaven were on major dispatch that night.....thankfully neither the mom nor the child were severely injured or even killed....hopefully, the mom won't make this mistake again
Well...she probably crashed BECAUSE she was drunk beforehand and she most likely abandoned her child BECAUSE she was drunk beforehand WITH her baby in the car. Not sure why you're surprised, and I believe your general lack of logic should prevent you from being able to refer to yourself as a godess even if its only in regards to potatoes. So, I'm thinking Potato Dumpling would be a more befitting name for you. Or maybe Baked Potato? I don't know, think about it because Potato Godess is unacceptable and I'm not in the mood to start a petition for your name change...but I will.
@Evelyn Lamptey not right away, obviously! I do believe that the mom needs to undergo some intensive substance abuse counseling (maybe even inpatient rehab) and attend some parenting classes, among other things BEFORE the child is returned to his mom! Provided that this is the first time that this happened, I would recommend that she be granted supervised visitation, and undergo random testing for drugs or alcohol in her system. Again, IF this was the first time this happened, I strongly believe that she deserves a second chance to prove herself and do the work necessary to achieve being reunified with her son. However, if this happened more than once, especially with her son in the vehicle, then no, I would absolutely NOT recommend that her son be returned to her.....and I would recommend that the courts either terminate her parental rights, or hopefully, a family member would come forward and be willing to file papers for the courts to grant guardianship of the child so that the child's mom can have additional time to get her life together and sober, if more time is needed!
The mom does not deserve this child. What a terrible human being.
Shes not
NoniAngel She’s not SHE JUST DIED
Perleen Sidhu Who cares, she is a horrible person.
Her actions were inexcusable, no doubt. But that does not make her a horrible person. Hopefully, she recognized the severity of her behavior and chose to get help for herself. And as for the child, only God knows if the mom was reunified with the child....everyone deserves a second chance
Tiffany Morgan She left her child behind, it could have died. She should never have a child ever again
There's nothing like a child reaching out for you, no matter what the situation. It completely warms you and it is amazing to have such a little person trust you like that. ♥
such a great comment. It's so true that regardless of the situation it's the most amazing thing❤
That's facts, it can save your entire mood
It's heartwarming!
I was like 14/15 when it happened to me for the first time. Absolutely heart warming for me. But my mother told me recently that one day when I was nine and we were on a vacation another family passed by us and their little child went strictly to me and hugged me and I hugged them back. We never met and my family and the other parents were puzzled but my mother used it as an example that people feel I am people person or special, I don't know. Most times I dislike it when she treats me or say stuff like that cause I don't like to be put on a pedestal, makes me feel distant from others, lonley and feel frightend of others putting me down (like bullying).
@@larafranke1802How you twisted your mothers complement into a negative thought instead of as it is (a nice complement) is beyond puzzling.
Not only the abandonment but the fact that she chose to drive drunk while a baby in the car, thank God the baby is safe.
Yes, I totally agree and also please don't forget to capitalize the Lord's great name.
Actually the baby is not safe. He may be temporarily removed from her custody and placed in foster care but for long term safety his mother needs to get clean and sober, establish an alcohol free life and discover in psychotherapy what made her choose alcohol over her child.
Coco Taveras why would she capitalize something like god?
I was thinking the same thing about her, but she didn't even check to see if the baby was hurt, thank God the baby was okay, she wasn't that drunk, she made it home with no car
@@blowingleaves-rb9fw 1 that's a DUI,2 child endangerment 3 she destroyed public property, and 4 child abandonment, it's going to be a while to get her child back, but family might be able to take care of the baby until she gets straight, it's still some jail time

As a mom again, I'd rather not watch this. I only took in how small the guy was & how he wanted to hide in that cops chest. 😞 poor kid.

Sometimes I think you should need a license to have a child.
But then think of the poor people who don't have money to raise their families.Maybe the money that the rich take with them to prison for bail should be removed from their hands and given to the poor and the inmigrants trying to earn their citizenship!
I think that a lot actually
Very true !
What would a license do? It doesn’t stop abuse or neglect from happening. People have licenses to do all sorts of things, and still maliciously violate their license rules.

Hope the little mite is okay and hasn't been frightened too much. Wish him a safer and happier life with someone who really loves and cherishes him. Little soul deserves a lovely Christmas. Some people aren't ready to be, or aren't meant to be mothers. Sometimes they become one and don't or don't think they have a way out.
Doesn't give her an excuse to drive drunk with a child in the back, or flee a crime scene leaving her baby behind. Judging from the situation, the mother has never developed skills for rational thinking or good decision making skills.

@@Kim-vs4vb Some parents don't really deserve to be a parent ;-;
Well, they say she was drunk at the time, that tends to interfere with someone's reasoning and rational thinking. I'd say leaving her kid behind wasn't even the worst part but the drunk-driving that led to the crash is.

He asks to be held by a male officer while he was already in the arms of a female officer.
That's the amazing part for me. Women in their biology have all the advantages that make them more soothing to children. They nicer looking, smell nicer, have a calm attitude, calmer voice etc.
But I guess the kid has had enough with women in general looking who his mother is.
@@HigHrvatski That’s exactly what I was thinking when I saw him reach out for the male officer even though a female Officer was holding him, cause usually kids gravitate to women. As young as he is I think his mom has hurt him enough to make him scared of women so he reached for the first male he saw (I assume). The way the male Officer held him & just his demeanor while taking the child from the female Officer makes me believe he has children himself or is around a lot of children so he’s comfortable taking care of them. It was so sweet! I’ve worked with a few guys that don’t have kids so they wouldn’t know what to do (other than to bring the child to me, lol!)

You obviously didn't see him pointing the gun
Make me cry
- - You’re an idiot
- - i saw no gun in this video
As a matter of fact I'm going to hit replay just to see THAT ,scene again now!!..
Priceless that officer must have kids bc that baby just looks so content in his arms!
When he reached out for the officer I nearly cried... The little guy was so scared and just wanted comfort
the cop is a good man
Thanks for telling us the obvious.... 😒😒😒
Thetrolleroftheunderworld I love Ssundee and derp Ssundee is funny
Thetrolleroftheunderworld but bad at pulling over
Thetrolleroftheunderworld ^()^ ×'-× CUTEEE=
Thanks for pointing out that he was stating the obvious...:/
Drinking and driving with a child, then leaves the scene of an accident with her child behind.
She need prison time!!!!!!!
Lucy Sandoval Not to mention lose total custody of that precious baby boy that she put in danger because of her selfishness.
No death..
Yes I feel for the baby
Death sentence seems fitting
Mindless people...... wakeup already....
Praying for that sweet baby. I have a toddler and it breaks my heart that anyone could do that to a child.
Seeing a man comforting a child... my ovaries cant take it.
macky macky it means she's in love with the cop.
Buckarsefly Not necessarily "in love" but more of a layman's term for an evolutionary construct that makes women want to mate with some one who can provide for them and their offspring.
That is disgusting.
My Name Is Pete I tip my fedora to you my good sir
David Harrison no it’s not... it’s called life. It’s how you were made.
This made me cry. How can you do that to any child, let alone your own!!
She did not "do" anything to the child
She was being a drunk and an idiot, and the child was caught in the vicinity of her stupidity
Not defending her tho, I'm simply offering a point of view worded in a way which explains this sad bit of reality (and many more)
Itai Sprachman
Abandoning her child is something. She definitely did something.
@@Konpekikaminari she did "do" something. She drank alcohol, drove drunk with her baby in the car, crashed the car, and then proceeded to leave her baby in the crashed car. Your "point of view" makes no sense.
@@nicolecheyenne7937 I'll be honest, I'm not even sure what I was trying to say with that comment back then
Probably shouldn't have made a comment at 2 a.m
It made me cry too.
My parents always told me that some people aren’t meant to be parents, and this woman is a clear example😔
The way the baby reached for him🤗🥺
I don't know what's worse, driving while drunk while your kid is in the car, or fleeing the scene leaving your kid in the car. I think Child Protection need to find him a real mom.
Unfortunately CPS has one expectation when they take a case like this and that is to reunite the child with it's parents if at all possible. I worked with CASA here in Texas for awhile and the difference between us and CPS was that our job was to do what was right for the child and that didn't always result in the child going back to their parents. As in this case, the Mom never gave a thought to her child and simply left him with no more thought than if it had been a bag of groceries. Someone like this woman will put on a show to make CPS see that she's remorseful and will take good care of him, but too many times that's nothing more than an act because she knows if she loses the child her assistance checks from the state will stop and that's all she cares about. Too many times CPS falls for this, the child goes back to the parents and then days or weeks go by and suddenly the child's in the Hospital because "he fell" and broke his arm. . . .or "he was taken out of my car while I was getting gas" and ends up being found later because the Mom, Dad or boyfriend killed him.
He'll probably just float from one abusive home to another like most kids in the system do
@@edwells3818 you're full of it. Cps doesn't care about kids or parents or reuniting families. They care about money. The mothers that you're referring to would have an easier life abandoning the child than trying to get extra food....thats an illogical assumption. Having kids doesn't give you priority for things like housing assistance so having kids would make zero difference for that. CPS lies to steal children so they get the government grant money to keep their case open. Meanwhile abuse is rampant in fostet homes and they just leave them their despite warning signs and reports
@@aurora8749, sounds like you have a history of some sort with CPS or you've been involved in some way with the organization. I'm telling you what I know to be true based on what I saw first hand. Now if you had a different interaction with CPS and your venomous view of them is what you came away with that's unfortunate but it doesn't change what I know, Thanks for your view though.
@@edwells3818 My lady friend worked 38 years for the state and 12 of it was in CPS and there was no money or child stealing involved. After a 1978 case of an abused child being given back to it's mom only to be murdered two weeks later, they rewrote the book on who should get their child back or not. If it was simple human errors such as leaving a door unlocked and the kid got out that was one thing but a history of abuse was a totally different matter. Yes some children do still fall thru the cracks and end up beaten or dead which is unfortunate.
This kid reached right for the male cop. He doesn't trust women anymore.
poor thing. that makes so much sense.
Damn he grew up to be an incel 😳 /jk
:( its so sad
I thought that too. He really was traumatised.
@@Vyansya
I just looked up that word.
If incel is someone who can't find a romantic partner. Then aren't all feminist incels?
The little baby held out his hands.. aww
This man is what evry human being should aspire to be..
Omg... that is horrible, hope someone adopted the child and the woman was thrown in jail?
Yep they foundher! Don’t worry :)
@@Aubcat and killed her
@@Muthruchi what

mithra manu lol hope so
that cop is good looking with a big heart and no ring hello...
Annointed One Exactly what I was thinking
ifyouknew thenyouknew said by an ugly coward.
ifyouknew thenyouknew oh rlly?
Find him, and claim him as your own
❤️💙
It's sad and telling that even though he was already being held and comforted by an officer he reached for the male officer before relaxing. That mom already taught him at 2 years not to trust her.
That is a very astute observation om your part, Samantha. You'd make a good cop.
I’m sorry but this don’t add up can you explain in a way that I can understand
@@sassyqueen9739 how mothers treat their children affects how their daughters behave and how their sons see women. Same way a fathers behaviour teaches his sons how to behave and his daughters how to view men. I've seen it in myself and my siblings. I see it in my stepkids. It's really easy math.
So true
Or because he was the one to hand him his bottle
This just made me cry. What a sweet thing to see that baby put out his hands wanting the police officer. That mother should not get her baby back. IMO maybe the police officer can adopt him.
This is disgusting, it’s horrible to know that people would leave their child in a crashed car
I hope this little guy the best ❤️
They should take him away from her if she left him and she was drunk driving
Agree!! She should be charged for neglect!
Agree!! She should be charged for neglect!
+wilbet333 and endangerment!
+Kennedy Richardson I agree. Poor baby. At least the officers found him and took good care of him. What if they didn't realize he was in there and the car got impounded with him in it?
+Kennedy Richardson I saw the story on Inside Edition today and the toddler is being cared for by other family members and she has a child endangerment charge on her.
That poor baby. That woman doesn’t deserve that precious little boy. So sad.
The officer is really sweet, he must be a good father. I feel pity for the mother who couldn't comfort her son when he needed her the most.
I hope she didn't just get the kid back. She was driving drunk with the baby inside - that was endangerment.
nobody Uknow That’s bad enough, but to just abandon him after the fact?
That’s child endangerment as well.
What kind of mother does that?
She doesn’t deserve that baby.
nobody Uknow that is what I was thinking
nobody Uknow same
That despicable mother should lose total custody of that little boy. Kudos to the officer for comforting him at his darkest hour. Poor little guy.
Get that officer a raise
I am so proud of that officer.God Bless him.
God bless him from me too
Awweeee little kids don’t usually hug strangers this is so heart warming
So great to see kindness from the officer
This woman should NEVER be allowed near this child again. We need tougher laws in this country to protect children.
Yes ikr
Yeah
Indeed, that's why I would never go so harsh on a child. The actions we make towards them cannot go back to you, they've already happened.
The woman doesn't deserve to have her child back after what she's done. I have full respect for this officer. God bless him 🙏🏻
I agree she shouldn't period.
He should be his guardian from this point on. The ''mom'' can rot in jail.
My heart goes out to babies who have terrible parents. When I saw his little hands reach out to the officer, I wanted to cry!! Please keep him safe God🙏🏽
Ameen
Nothing like little arms reaching out to you to melt your heart. Sad to say, but maybe this crash is the best thing that could have happened to this baby in order to get him out of an obviously horrible situation with an even worse parent. I pray that this sweet angel is being taken care of the way he deserves. May this animal get the maximum punishment for treating her child like he’s disposable.
