These skits are getting better. These are hella funny while calling out flaws in the logic of the movies
This is the first time I'm noticing that each clone pilot has a different helmet paint job!
The next question should have been this (what if the fighter explodes but the pilot doesn’t die, that open faced helmet definitely won’t help in that case).
It's kinda funny seeing who I believe is Jag behind Oddball. ROTS is Notorious for reusing clone models (41st Troopers on Utupau, 3 Commander Bacaras, and 212th Troopers on Coruscant hanger)
I’m thinking it’s because those helmets have a face plate which you can attach to make them fully sealed (which is when the hoses become useful) but the pilots just choose to keep them off for more comfort and visibility

That open helmet design is probably why I never cared for the pilot helmet. The moment you're shot out or eject in space you're as good as dead. Funny bit.

And the Tie fighter pilot armour is just a huge upgrade over all of it. A shame the Empire gave them such shitty fighters to fly, but it isn't like ARC 170s would be any better flying at the speed of smell and being so big that even a medium turbolaser could shoot it down no problem, and V wings were more suited to Geonosians than they were humans. The only good fighters the Republic had were Headhunters, but if I'm honest, clone Z95s aren't as good because of their ridiculous profile and engines.

But what if the windshield is destroyed?
I mean, how often do we see well... anyone that isn't a main character survive a cockpit hit in star wars? let alone any hit at all.
And if their windshield is destroyed? well, they probably got bigger issues to worry about.
And in the event their ship is destroyed but they somehow would've survived? these ships fly around at incredibly high speeds, any clone that gets dismounted from his ship midflight is going to be sent into the terrifying abyss of space. In that scenario I'd rather not have the suit to keep me going. And that is already assuming they don't get absolutely annihilated by the fragments of their own ship being sent in every direction at incredibly high speeds.
