Disney lost more than a step, they’ve lost a marathon or 2.
They are lagging way behind now.
They act like that because they can: for all the screaming about how expensive they’ve gotten and the once-free perks that have now been hidden behind paywalls (both valid complaints), Kyle’s video shows that even on a cloudy, rainy day, their parks are jammed. They’re not made to feel accountable, so nothing changes.
I love Disney and have loved them for a long time; I don’t see me or my family completely cutting the parks out of our lives (just don’t go with the same frequency). But having said that, they can use a kick in the ass, and I think Universal is going to bring that in a big way next year. Super Nintendo World gets a ton of the hype, but the Dark Universe stuff that was revealed this week made my jaw drop. Beyond excited to see that in person.
Have you ever heard of Disney re-opening the Jedi Training stage? My son was just at the age where he could participate when Covid hit and I'd love to see him in there at some point.
I was talking about this with my friend the other day. I don’t see them bringing back the training academy. I think Disney is in a shrinking mode for park offerings outside of rides. It’s something that is missed, bc I have had a bunch of viewers ask if it was coming back. I think they could do so much more with the areas in Galaxys Edge as well, but Disney seems content with what they are offering.

I don’t think he’s saying random lines: Vader just has to warm up the ol’ pipes before greeting future acolytes, a la Ron Burgundy. Would be great if they slipped a Vader-voiced, “The Human Torch was denied a bank loan,” in there (but would that go against the Universal contract w/ Marvel? Hmmm.).

The good ole days! Genie plus was the tipping point that turned us into "Universal people".
This is true. Those days are missed greatly.
I do remember when Universal used to have free Express passes as well before you had to pay or stay at one of their higher end hotels.

Even though it seems weird, you learn to appreciate the cloudy rainy days as it keeps the crowds and temps down considerably.
I’d take cloudy over rainy, but both are great if they keep crowds down.
