Hi Mike - Nice to see the sunshine and the blue sky behind the clouds. Yeah, it looks a lot like Colorado, LOL! Snow, then sun, then more snow . . . I hope the next snowfall brings more moisture out there. Take care!
Good evening, suz; Thanks for dialing in and the comments. Super Dave Frasier has announced more snow overnight for here but not as much as other areas west and south will get. I'll take any and all. It will be interesting to see how well this camera works when I get to use it in a lot of real sunlight later in the year. Anyway, have a great evening. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
3:36 that was me waving, we got delayed leaving Chicago because a plumbing pipe burst in one of the superliner cars flooding it so they had to rebuild the consist setting us back 2hrs.
Good afternoon, NC_YT_123: I did see your wave! Thanks! I figured it was a viewer but didn't put a name with the wave. Oh well. AMTRAK didn't get explicit with the delay at Chicago, but I thought there may have been issues with the rolling stock. The rail break west of Holdrege was unusual but with the frigid temps back that direction not unheard of. Hope that the rest of your trip is uneventful. Please take care and stay safe! Enjoy the ride!
Hey Mike! That answers the question about how they are going to take care of the snow around the new bench. They're not! LOL Stay safe and warm! Cold here in WI.
Good evening, rockiecmfan9662; Thank for dialing in and the comments. Well, at least nobody had to sit in snow on that bench. LOL! The bench on the east face was still covered in snow and the surround had not been scooped. Thought about breaking out the snowshoes and trampling around in that snow. LOL! Take care, stay warm, and safe!
Hey Hey Mr. Mike, Glad to be on board today for the #5 stop and crew change in Ft. Morgan. Looks like nicer weather there than yesterday, but as you said, likely more snow tonight. Yes we were cold last night, but a little warmer today. I think it was 42F when I went out. They're calling for 27F tonight with clear skies. Maybe snow for San Antonio on Thursday 😲 Currently it's clear and 38F @ 2032 Hrs CST. Have a good night - Be safe 👍 Okay Papa Geoff, Signal Indication - Here we go on a clear - Clear, Here we go, OUT 🚦🚦
Good evening, Papa Geoff; Thanks for dropping by and the comments. That sun did feel good on my shoulders. Tomorrow will be colder again with snow overnight to the tune of about an inch. I looked at a temperature map this morning and was happy to be in the area of temps on the up side of zero. Oh well. It is winter. Hope that everyone weathered the coolness last night and does again tonight down there. Take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good afternoon Mike. One of those days! Looks a little Foggy out your way. Definitely a little warmer for you with the late arrival. Have a great day and stay safe out.
Good afternoon, David; Thank you for stopping by and the comments. There was a lot of haze but little fog. some from the thaw of the snow on the streets. It was nice to stand in the warmth of the sun. Sounds like more snow here tonight. I'll take it! Should be another inch or so. Hope that you have a great afternoon and evening over there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good afternoon Mike! Good heavens! They really are running way behind! Sunny and 14 degrees here in the Heartland currently this Monday afternoon! We completely missed all snow and winter weather in my city! So more snow coming for you out there. Have a great Monday out your way Sir! I am enjoying the sunshine here! Mark in Iowa.
Good afternoon, Mark; Thank you for stopping by and the comments. Yep. Frozen rolling stock, piping et al. Broken rails. The chill has messed it all up. With the sun shining here, it is really nice outside right now. The weather guessers ate spouting more snow tonight. Bring it on! This powdery stuff is going away fast. The sublimation has taken its toll on the coating. Hope that you have a great afternoon and evening back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Hi Mike some nasty weather out there-especially freezing rain/sleet Thanks for viewing #5 especially in the elements-view all good with the delay-have a good safe day, Jeb ☃️
Good afternoon, Jeb; I thank you for stopping by along with the comments. It was kinda balmy here. We are supposed to get more snow tonight and into tomorrow. Bring it on! Shouldn't be more than an inch or so. It is about time we start catching up to the mountains. I really hope that we don't, but more coverage will be nice. Anyway, have a great afternoon and evening. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good afternoon, Sarah; Thank you for dropping by and the comments. It has been chilly here but what sun we have really felt good this morning. More snow tonight. Speaking of that, Are you ready for the drastic drop in the temps down there? Ouch! Time to find the extra hoodies. Hope that you have a great afternoon and evening. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
@@Mikeinmorgan Our trailer isn't exactly weatherproof. We are still trying to get the roof patched. It rained last night and no leaks so maybe we finally did it. I can see daylight a few places here and there, especially around our door. One heater isn't quite keeping up. Another blows the fuses here and in the house. I haven't minded the cooler temps. It beats me being hot every day. It's harder today, it's too cold to be able to open the back of the trailer up. I have trouble not having sunlight.
Good afternoon, Gerald; Thank you for tuning in and the comments. It's always something on the platform. I hope that you get to feeling better soon. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good afternoon, George; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. The last and final video I posted on the old channel was December 31st. I have not touched that site since but will start removing videos starting with the oldest over the upcoming months. This channel is the only one I am adding new content to. Anyway, have a great afternoon and evening. Please take care and stay safe!
Good day Mike. Delay leads to delay. At least you got to chat with a few of the crew. Temperature here the same as you, and similar snow cover, just a smattering. Thanks and stay warm and well.
Good afternoon, Dan; I thank you for dialing in along with the comments. The chat is always a good thing. WE are supposed to get more powder snow tonight and into tomorrow. Bring it on! We will take all we can get. Anyway, have a great afternoon and evening back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good afternoon, Ken; Thank you for dropping by and the comments. I don't get to do that very often. It was nice to have the chat. Have a great evening. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good evening, Paul; Thank you for dialing in and the comments. It indeed was different. That long stretch west from Hastings and Holdrege was a lot slower than usual. Tey finally made an area where the slow orders were negated and hit it a lick to get here before they ran up against the clock. Have a great evening over there. Please take care and stay safe!
Good Afternoon, Mike. Days are getting longer, aren't they. Broken rails & broken pipes will really hang a weight on the schedule. You're expecting more snow. Right now we're at 64° and overcast. Going down to below 22° and the nights will be that way for the rest of the week. Take care of yourself with that weather. Stay safe & stay warm. Gidspeed.
Good afternoon, Jim; Thanks for dialing in along with the comments. Yep. The afternoons are staying light a little longer. Should see the mornings start that soon. WE are slated for more snow overnight to the tune of an inch or so. I sat "Bring it on!" Sounds kinda BURRRY back there. I see we just made it to 30 F for the high. Not so high tomorrow. As long as the coffee stays hot, I'll be fine. It did cool rather rapidly this morning. Anyway, take care, stay warm, and safe back there!
Well I'm sure the issue with the broken rails had to have been resolved. I'm sure that you know everything's going well. It was really sloppy snowing but that was on yesterday the 6th back here where I am. But you know the snow is moving and will probably get more snow later this week I think.
Good evening, James; Thank you for stopping by along with the comments. It seemed rather balmy when the Zephyr arrived. The sun was warm and now we are back under the clouds of another band of snow coming thru. Must be wintertime in eastern Colorado. LOL! Have a great evening up there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Hi Mike, hope all is well with you.Always seems like a let down after Christmas.Anyway I know it's none of my business but things have seemed somewhat off having not heard Ric, miss that voice. Was she late because of weather.Read where the SWCwas canceled. Have a blesses day.Hope you see this comment; if not, dont know what to do.This has become such a part of my life.Thank you Mike, you'e the best. 👍👋😉💥😎
Good afternoon, Carolyn; I thank you for stopping by and the comments. Ric is still around. Just not pushing the sticks as much. It is rather a bummer this time of year as the colorful lights and displays are taken down for next year. That has started here, and I do miss several of the lighting displays. I think our city electricians have started removing the lighting from the street light poles and what not around the main streets. Yep. The weather has caused cancellations of then SWC #3 & #4 as well as several other LD trains. Almost got the Zephyr yesterday in Chicago. They could not foresee broken rails in the middle of Nebraska. hat too was caused by the frigid air mass. That has happened here just steps from the depot last year. Anyway, have a great evening down there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe! 😎 👋👌👍👍🌨🌨⛄❄❄❄
PTC login is a major source of delays, I assume because of flaky communications. A second channel as backup might be nice, or move the train a couple of inches to get the antenna out of a null.
The crews still have to complete the login no matter what as well as check the boards for notices as was done on this train. They don't move aircraft without those checks. There is no null here as the antennas are right at the depot and 1 mile either side.
Good day, Robo; Thank you for stopping by and the comments from Australia. I appreciate it. I am coffeed out for today. May have to have a siesta to take the edge off. Have a great one there. Please take care, stay cool, and safe!
Good afternoon Mike from 28 very light snowy mid Tenn. 30 will be our high today and tomorrow it seems. Wow, lots of platform drama with cold, snow, broken rail, change crew, etc. Mike did you just roll over this AM and grab more covers or just get up early anyway?
Good afternoon, Ben; I thank you for dialing in and the comments. We just hit 29 F. with more sunshine. Snow to happen tonight again. Bring it on. O was awake at my usual tome of 0330 and checking where the train was. It wasn't moving and waiting for the BNSF crew to repair the rail(s). Then came coffee time. Maybe a siesta coming up. I had given thought of yanking the covers back up but once I am awake, that's it. Time to get moving. Some people. LOL!! Anyway, have a great afternoon and evening back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!
Good afternoon, greatnorthern930; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. Nope. Didn't sleep in. I have no idea what that is. LOL!! Crew changes don't happen here that much unless they get caught between Lincoln and here. This morning, they did and then had to put up with reduced speed across the McCook Sub. Oh well. I am sure some shuteye will be in the offing for that crew. It was nice for the chat time though. Anyway, have a great evening. Please take care and stay safe!
Hi Mike, was the train late today? You are in daylight today. How long have you been doing these videos? We got 6 inches of snow in Springfield, Illinois. How much did you get?
Good evening, Mike; I thank you for dropping by and the comments. It was 5 hours and some late. It was strange to be in daylight. LOL! Felt good though. There was about 5 inches of power snow on the ground with very little moisture, but I'll take all of that we can get. Supposed to have more overnight. Have a great evening back there. Please take care, stay warm, and safe!

Nope. Ottumwa to Lincoln. Lincoln to Denver. Denver to Grand Junction. Then SLC and two in Nevada with the final down to Emeryville.
